Re: [ovirt-users] Failed to read hardware information

2016-10-12 Thread David Pinkerton
Nir,

Looks like its crashing on the dmidecode system call.

I've attached the output from gbd as well as a dmidecode text dump,
dmidecode binary dump and each keywords run individually.

>From the keywords it look like my dmi info is corrupted. I have download a
AMI dmi editor but this only allows access to limited fields. Do you know
another tools to rewrite the dmi info?

Thanks so much for your help.

Cheers,

[ovirt-users] remote-viewer from admin vs user portal

2016-10-12 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have the impression that there is a different behavior between admin and
user portal when opening a VM console with remote-viewer.
My client is an updated CentOS 7 machine and I'm using firefox on it to
connect to oVirt 4.0.4 portals.
If I connect to a VM (that is a Fedora 24 os) from web admin it runs
remote-viewer.
I switch to full screen mode and leave it some hours.
When I come back I see a black screen and I'm not able to re-get the
session.
I can click on top center to pop up the menu and exit the remote-viewer
full screen but also in window mode I'm not able to get again the desktop
environment inside the VM (I configured Mate desktop in fedora 24 VM): it
remains black window. The VM itsel is ok: I can close the remote-viewer
window and open again the console and I get the desktop environment.

Instead from User Portal on the same client I can open the console (again
remote-viewer), leave the session in full screen mode and come back many
hours later and as soon as I click or press a key I get the session ok
(sometimes actually I get the screen saver locked of the client desktop
environment itself, but as soon as I unlock it I can connec thent to the VM
desktop).

Any special reason for this?

In both cases the command seems the same:

admin portal:
 $ ps -ef|grep remote-viewer
g.cecchi 10356  9462  0 18:59 pts/100:00:00 grep --color=auto
remote-viewer
g.cecchi 16814 20129  0 01:30 ?00:00:54 /usr/bin/remote-viewer
/tmp/mozilla_g.cecchi0/console.vv

user portal (extended mode)
$ ps -ef|grep remote-viewer
g.cecchi 11544 20129  0 19:02 ?00:01:18 /usr/bin/remote-viewer
/tmp/mozilla_g.cecchi0/console.vv
g.cecchi 23534  9462  0 22:54 pts/100:00:00 grep --color=auto
remote-viewer

Not a big problem, but quite strange.

According vdsm.log and supervdsm.log, each time vdsm try to call
getHardwareInfo,
supervdsm show the start of the call and then it show no logs for 10 seconds,
and than we see the startup message.

So it seems that supervdsm is crashing each time it try to invoke dmidecode
code.

To dig deeper, I suggest you try to run the relevant code from the
shell. If this
code crash, we will see the details in the shell, and we can also run the python
shell in gdb to debug this.

Try this:

1. Open a python shell as root

$ sudo python

2. In the shell, type this

>>> from vdsm import dmidecodeUtil
>>> dmidecodeUtil.getHardwareInfoStructure()

If at this point the the python shell crash, please try:

1. Install python debug-info packages:

$ sudo debuginfo-install -y python

2. Start python in gdb

$ sudo gdb python

3. In the gdb shell, run python

(gdb) run

Python shell will show, type the code above again.

If this crash in gdb, please type this in the gdb shell:

(gdb) thread apply all bt full

This log did not help me either because during this specific time there was
no logs in the engine.

This means that it is not the engine attempting to connect.
@Simone can you please check whether this is hosted engine?

Looking more in to the logs I see that after hostdeploy there are no more
attempts to connect from the engine:

2016-10-03 23:28:47,891 INFO  [org.ovirt.engine.core.uutils.ssh.SSHDialog]

Later in the logs I can see bunch of redeploys but no sign of attempt to
connect.

Can you please share one of the host deploy logs?

According to the logs this is the last one:

Hi,

I got this issue a few times in past, and it was fixed after I upgraded Firefox
to a newer version. I don't know if this was exactly the reason of the issue,
but upgrading your browser may help, if that's the case.

Yes currently FF below 47 won't load the dashboard due to FF below that
version not implementing a particular i18n standard. I believe we implemented
a polyfill to fix that issue recently, I am just not sure which version of the
dashboard that was fixed. So if you can't upgrade your browser to a newer
version, you will have to wait until the polyfill version of the dashboard is
released.

[ovirt-users] Dashboard Never Loads

2016-10-12 Thread Clint Boggio
Greetings ovirt community;

I have an oVirt environment with a dedicated engine, and 4
compute nodes all running CentOS 7, and oVirt 4.0.1.1. On the
management interface, the "Dashboard" tab displays "Loading" and the
spinning applet is working hard, but nothing ever materializes on the
screen. I aplogize if this has apready been addressed, and i searched
deeply before I decided to ask the forum.

Is there a document on troubleshooting this problem ?

2016-10-12 Thread Piotr Kliczewski
As you listed engine logs end 14 minutes before vdsm logs start. It should
be enough if you sent older vdsm log which covers
engine logs time frame.

Thanks,
Piotr

Re: [ovirt-users] unsupported configuration: Unable to find security driver for model selinux

2016-10-12 Thread Tom Gamull
This should work but that is a little strange (I’m copying from the suggested
action)
-
If you believe that qemu-kvm should be allowed getattr access on the
a3f29de7-c6b9-410e-b635-9b3016da7ba2 lnk_file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# grep qemu-kvm /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
# semodule -i mypol.pp
———

It looks like the qemu-kvm is having access issues on lnk files.

Could you try the above action on node69-02 and see if that resolves the issue?
It may be a bug.

Hi Ondra,

It's not, but you need to use insecure connection then (you need to have

I ended up generating a cert on one of the AD machines, copying it to the
host, and then specified it in the setup process via
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup.
It seems to create a .jks file. It still gave me the same 'peer not
authenticated' so I checked the krb5.keytab and saw that there was no SPN
for http, so I rejoined the domain and specified http as a service name via
adcli, and then things worked.

I think I was under the impression that you needed to join the domain in
order to auth via AD. However, I've now seen one HOWTO that says that you
just need the cert from AD to be able to auth securely though I'm not
entirely clear whether that works for Apache. Is that correct - Kerberos,
binding etc is not needed for the oVirt web interface to auth securely?

Thanks,

Cam

Can you set it to permissive and run
sealart -a /var/log/audit/audit.log

you may need to install selinux tools

Probably there is something I don't understand...

I collect logs at 11:05
I copy both current engine.log and current vdsmd.log and update them to
google drive

Due to how ovirt-engine and vdsmd are logging and to how they are rotating
I have

1) the current engine.log initial and final lines at that time are

2016-09-27 03:16:08,460 INFO
 [org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.monitoring.VmsStatisticsFetcher]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler1) [1e566c35] Fetched 5 VMs from VDS
'0d6cfc43-99bb-468e-92d8-f615ef3362ae'

2016-10-12 10:51:36,336 INFO

process for 'ISO' file type with success, for storage domain id
'fd5754f1-bd00-4337-ad64-1abde35438ae'.

quite obviously no more logging during latest 14 minutes and so no more
lines inside the file...

2) the current vdsmd.log initial and final lines are instead

mailbox.SPMMonitor::DEBUG::2016-10-12
11:01:02,558::storage_mailbox::733::Storage.Misc.excCmd::(_checkForMail) /us
r/bin/taskset --cpu-list 0-31 dd

i
flag=direct,fullblock count=1 bs=1024000 (cwd None)
...
mailbox.SPMMonitor::DEBUG::2016-10-12

copied, 0.00455719 s, 225 MB/s\n';  = 0

tipically vdsmd.log rotation happens every 1 hour and in fact that
particular vdsmd is now named (at 14:43) vdsm.log.3.xz and in total
contains from the already shown line

mailbox.SPMMonitor::DEBUG::2016-10-12
11:01:02,558::storage_mailbox::733::Storage.Misc.excCmd::(_checkForMail)
/usr/bin/taskset --cpu-list 0-31 dd
if=/rhev/data-center/0001-0001-0001-0001-00ec/mastersd/dom_md/inbox
iflag=direct,fullblock count=1 bs=1024000 (cwd None)

up to

12:01:00,744::xmlrpc::91::vds.XMLRPCServer::(_process_requests) Request
handler for 127.0.0.1:47818 stopped

when it has been rotated

Please explain what is wrong with my approach giving you the information
needed Do you need more vdsmd.log files in the past?

What I meant is that you sent logs created at different times so I was
unable to match both ends (engine and vdsm.

It would be great if you could sent the logs from the same time.

Unfortunately not to this particular system. The other one is one of my
home systems and I can manage something perhaps.
But are you interested in any particular log? I can upload without problems.
The strange thing is that I have the same situation on two environments
that are configured the same way (single host with self hosted engine) and
both passed from initial configuration in 3.6.x to 4.0.x.
Possibly I made the same configuration errors on both, or the problem is
passing from 3. to 4.0.
But the original originator of the thread perhaps had this problem
(solved?) with diect installation in 4.0.
He said in one of his posts:

"
all nodes and engines are synced to the same timeserver.

as far as i can tell, the connection is from the node itself, to the vdsm
on the node, so no time difference can occur.

the certificate that get's presented be vdsm on port 54321 looks ok.

For what it is worth, I changed the certificate of the hosted-engine web
interface by reconfiguring apaches mod_ssl, not touching any certificate in
hosted-engine:/etc/pki/ovirt-*
"

Does 3.6 to 4.0 involve anything similar to his situation?

The next line in engine.log was after my collection, at 11:11...

I've run the following tests in that README you posted above, and all
worked fine:

ovirt-engine-extensions-tool aaa login-user --profile=mydomain.com
 --user-name=myuser
ovirt-engine-extensions-tool aaa search
--extension-name=mydomain.com-authz --entity=principal --entity-name=myuser
LDAPTLS_REQCERT=never ldapsearch -ZZ -H ldap://ad.mydomain.com
 -x -D "CN=myuser,CN=Users,DC=mydomain,DC=com"
-W -b "dc=mydomain,dc=com"

I thought I wouldn't need to import any certificate from AD - is that a
requirement?

It's not, but you need to use insecure connection then (you need to have
following line in /etc/ovirt-engine/aaa/domain.properties):

 pool.default.ssl.insecure = true

So double check that, and if it still won't work, the logs from
ovirt-engine-extensions-tool would help, you can generate them as follows:

 $ ovirt-engine-extensions-tool --log-level=FINEST
--log-file=/tmp/aaa.log aaa

Do I need to set up Apache separately to use LDAP auth? The service
principals exist in the krb5.keytab, but I don't if that is only if you
are using SSO.

Yes, that's only if you use SSO. If you use plain LDAP simple bind, you
don't need anything related to kerberos.

Thanks,

Cam
