[ovirt-users] Regarding fencing support in ovirt

2016-12-13 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I was trying to explore more about fencing option supported in ovirt.
But getting lost in documents.

My requirement is to fence at VM level rather than host level.
e.g let assume VM1.1, VM1.2,VM1.3 are running on host1 and VM2.1,VM2.2
VM2.3 running on host2. Suppose due to some error only VM1.1 goes down
[Note: VM1.2 and VM1.3 in running state] then VM2.1 must come up.

Can I get to know whether such functionality is supported by ovirt ?
If yes, would you please explain also how it work
or would you share refernece for me to refer and understand it ?
if yes, is it configurable by python sdk ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

Re: [ovirt-users] unexpected comma found at the end of DN string

2016-12-13 Thread Bill Bill
I was actually able to resolve this by renaming the corresponding files in the
/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/aaa directory and the extentions.d directory. Then, I
simply ran the ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup command and re-added the
AD back. The users were not affected since they were already in oVirt.

I have found that in the properties file, it stores the login information I
used to set the connection up. If I remove those, the error is generated. It
seems as though unless there’s a username/password stored in plain text in that
file, the AD connection will not work. Is this correct or are there some
variables that can be entered to use the info from the login fields?

Hi,

could you please execute following command to get full logs from login flow and
share those logs?

  ovirt-engine-extensions-tool --log-level=FINEST aaa login-user
--profile= --user-name=

Please replace and according to your setup.

Thanks

rolled back. Now, authentication doesn’t work anymore and the error is vague.

Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to delete VM disk

2016-12-13 Thread cmc
On the VM in the list of VMs, by right-clicking on it. It then gives
you a pop up window to edit the VM, starting in the 'General' section
(much as when you create a new one)

Thanks,

Cam

Hi,

Which version are you using ?
When you mention "Edit", on which entity is it performed.?

The disks are currently not part of the edit VM window.

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-13 Thread aleksey . maksimov
No. The problem is not solved. I still can not import OVA in oVirt.
And the problem is not a lack of disk space.

Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to delete VM disk

2016-12-13 Thread Elad Ben Aharon
In general, in order to delete a disk while it is attached to a running VM,
the disk has to be deactivated (hotunplugged) first so it won't be
accessible for read and write from the VM.
In the 'edit' VM prompt there is no option to deactivate the disk, it
should be done from the disks subtab under the virtual machine.

So it estimates that it will require 13GB. Do you have 13GB free on
/var/tmp?

You say "Errors are seen." What errors do you see? It *looks* like
this finished successfully.

[ovirt-users] Unprompted engine VdsDeploy -- updating a package on host?

2016-12-13 Thread Derek Atkins
Hi,

As I was going through my daily logwatch I noticed that a package got
updated on my ovirt host last night. But I know that I didn't do that
on my own. Looking at the logs I tracked it down to the hosted engine
running a VdsDeploy process which updated the package on the host. I
know from the timestamp that it wasn't me that initiated that action.

Is the engine supposed to update packages on hosts unprompted like that?

Re: [ovirt-users] Request for feedback on your db vacuum status

2016-12-13 Thread Darrell Budic
Whups, bad reply to, no problem copying the list.

It's a self hosted system, currently with two clusters and 9 active hosts.74
VMs, yes. It’s had a few more clusters over time, and a few more hosts,
including some removed and re-added when upgrading from centos 6 to 7. But only
9 at the moment. One cluster of 6 with most of the vms, using external Gluster
servers not managed by ovirt, and one cluster of 3 which are also gluster
servers as well as hypervisors. 7 vms currently on the smaller cluster.

Actually, I just tried to create a new disk via the 'Edit' menu once

Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to delete VM disk

2016-12-13 Thread cmc
Hi Elad,

I was trying to delete the disk via the 'edit' menu, but noticed just
now that there was a 'disks' tab when the machine was highlighted.
This has a 'activate/deactivate' function, and once deactivated, was
able to remove it without error.

It does offer the option of deleting the disk when right clicking on
the VM and choosing 'edit', however, there is no 'deactivate' option.
Not sure if this is by design (so that users should look elsewhere). I
can still try to run the delete from the 'Edit' page, and capture
browser console output. Otherwise, apologies for troubling you with
this.

Kind regards,

Cam

Seems so.

ping to the gateway is an important test, because if it fails it might
mean a split-brain.
When you are asked about a 'gateway address', it's actually used only for that.
It does not need to be your gateway, but it does need to be a very
reliable thing that should always reply.

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine suddenly reboots

2016-12-13 Thread Juan Pablo
thanks for pointing me on the right direction , I have this line a couple
of minutes before the vm restart
":states::128::ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.agent.hosted_engine.HostedEngine::(score)
Penalizing score by 1600 due to gateway status"
so looks like this is causing:
states::413::ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.agent.hosted_engine.HostedEngine::(consume)
Host virt01-int..xx (id 1) score is significantly better than local
score, shutting down VM on this host
is this a network related issue? hosted engine and hosts are on the same
vlan, does a gateway check should be triggering a hosted engine shutdown?

thanks!
JP

The Python SDK doesn't directly talk to VDSM, it talks to the engine,
which in turn talks to VDSM for certain things. There is documentation
of the SDK here:

  https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/tree/master/sdk

And a collection of examples here:

Re: [ovirt-users] Help to setup ovirt release 40

2016-12-13 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi Martin,

I am sorry, I am trying installing ovirt on my VM OS (cntos).
And here I had 2 VMs Centos 7 and 6. And I had played around some
configuration in both VM and hence it was failing.
I forgot what I had executed in that VM.

Anyway, after fresh installation. I am able to setup ovirt-engine.

Thanks for your help and sorry for wrong trial.
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] Hosted Engine suddenly reboots

2016-12-13 Thread Juan Pablo
Hi guys,
I have ovirt 4.0.5 with 3 hosts and 1 storage setup, using iscsi for data
and nfs for hosted engine storage.
storage network is on a private vlan.
sometimes I see ETL service stopped / ETL service started in the events
log, side by side with a hosted engine stop/start...
also, sometimes I get kicked out of the admin portal with no reason
I had another issue which was related to
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1349829 but looks like it's
harmless so maybe Im not seeing the problem.

can you please guide me on finding the issue here?

Right. engine-setup can do everything for you.

To start from scratch you can do something like this:

service postgresql stop
rm -rf /var/lib/pgsql/data

only Centos/RHEL 7 is supported for oVirt 4. Please take a look at [1] for
correct installation steps on EL7.

It's erms, which is there. But it's not the culprit.

Sorry if you have already tested it, but have you tried using 7.2 kernel
with QEMU 2.6, and then 7.3 kernel with QEMU 2.3? That would allow
finding the guilty component more easily.

Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to delete VM disk

There is no indication for image deletion in engine.log
The browser console log is located in your browser under
'settings'->'developer'.
Please try to delete a disk as you tried before, get the console log and
provide it.

Thanks

What is the flag to check?
Even if harmless, it seems that qemu-2.6 doesn't boot the self hosted
engine VM, because it remains somehow inside a sort of bios window, while
qemu-2.3 boots it without any problem and able to configure hosted engine...

(11:25:22) sbonazzo: kbsingh: hi, how are you? can you please push
qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 to mirrors?
(11:26:50) kbsingh: sbonazzo: the sign run is underway, its just being
really slow for some network reason somewhere
(11:26:56) kbsingh: sbonazzo: let me ping you once its done

2016-12-13 Thread Shahar Havivi
Thanks you,
Several questions:
1. did you try to import the disk target as preallocate?
2. did you try to import other ova files?
3. can you please send us version of virt-v2v, vdsm and engine and the os
that you are running with.
4. Is it possible for you to share the ova file?

Thank you,
 Shahar.

OK, sorry for not checking the file earlier.

Perhaps you are using for a new setup, an answer file generated by an upgrade?

If so, please use one generated in exactly the same environment it's
intended for.
Otherwise, please provide detailed flow and relevant logs.

Thanks!

OK. Please also share your experience/opinion about this. Thanks.

Thanks! The answer file I'm using is from 4.0... So, it's kinda strange he
quits on the Localhost database for DWH.
I'll check the otopi option.

Kind regards,

Didn't check it, but most likely it was generated by/for a <=3.6
engine-setup.
In 4.0, the engine now requires dwh, so requires its setup package, which
adds this question.

Simply run engine-setup manually and compare the generated answer file
with yours.

You might also want to try the rather-new otopi option to automatically
accept defaults - this way, you can provide an answer file with only the
things you supply non-default (or required) answers. See also:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1270719

'--accept-defaults' was only merged to 4.1 engine-setup, but the otopi
option (see comment 8) is in otopi-1.5, which is included in 4.0.

[ovirt-users] unexpected comma found at the end of DN string

2016-12-13 Thread Bill Bill
Hello,

Getting this and have no idea where to begin:

server_error: Unexpected comma or semicolon found at the end of the DN string.

Server is set up with AD for authentication. The problem started after
attempting to change SSL certificates with our own however, that failed so we
rolled back. Now, authentication doesn’t work anymore and the error is vague.
