In this case with "copy VM to your FC os SCSI domain", which way do you
mean?
Selecting VM, disks sub-tab, select disk and then "move"?

Hi Gervais,

Have you imported hosted_storage into your environment. I have hit
this issue when i did not have hosted_storage domain and hosted_engine
vm imported into my setup.

Another workaround can import to NFS storage domain as thin-provision and
then copy the VM to your FC or SCSI domain and delete the VM from the NFS
domain.

In the end, I completed the task (OVA imported).
The root of the problem is that I tried to use the import with thin provision.
But there is a known issue https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1382404

[ovirt-users] dedicated gluster storage network

Hi,

I changed the previous all in one network to a dedicated gluster storage
at the network level. But when doing netstat (or gluster peer status), I
can see that listening connection still use the previous vlan and
gluster bricks are probed on this vlan.

I detached them with ovirt or manually to probe them an other time, but
they are still probed on the initial ovirtmgmt vlan.

What is this gluster network supposed to do in reality?

Subject: [ovirt-users] Ovirt support

Hi all,

Do you know anyone providing official support for ovirt?
I have played with ovirt and I am thinking to back it up with some support for
enterprise use in case I am stuck.

Thanx,
Alex

[ovirt-users] Hosted-Engine Fails to Start

2016-12-14 Thread Nate T. Llaneza
Hey Guys,

I am running into a little problem. I shutdown today to run updates and when I
went to power back up the cannot get the hosted engine to come back online. I
am running CentOS 7 for my hypervisors. I did notice that CentOS has released
the 7.3 updates. I want to say I have narrowed it down to this error in
/var/log/libvirt/qemu/Hosted-Engine.log:

GLib-WARNING **: gmem.c:482: custom memory allocation vtable not supported

It seems like this was suppose to be fixed?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1360137

I am attaching the Hosted Engine log file.

Just for fun I did try updating the qemu-kvm version to 2.6 from the
ovirt-master-snapshot-static... It did not seem to help. Thanks for looking
into this!

Nathan

I improved that, I just haven't updated the wiki, as soon as you install the
symbol maps, and you can recreate the issue, then the UI.log should have the
unobfuscated stack trace, so you don't have to do all that stuff manually
anymore.

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-14 Thread Derek Atkins
Hi Aleksey,

One more question for debugging purposes: How long does the import go
before it dies? Do you have enough time to run:

  ps aux | grep virt-v2v

On the import host while it's running? This might help us determine
where it's trying to store the data. It should be storing it in the
target storage, but it's possible that it's using temp space and then
running out.

hosted engine is using SanLock to protect the engine VM disks, which allows
only this VM storage
based fencing. There's work[1] being done to allow this to more VMs, but it
still reuiqres more work.
So for now you should be using host fencing only.

I am pretty certain that this is not called fencing. Fencing is for
 hosts.
And it's meant for _stopping_ them, not starting.

No idea, but it might be possible using affinity rules and/or HA.
Changing the subject, to try to attract more relevant responses,
 and adding Tomer.

That's why the ovirtmanager machine wants to mount the iso domain
imagenes-iso which is on NFS, but has no ip address or route to that
nfs export.

[ovirt-users] ovirt, spice and igel

2016-12-14 Thread Craig Warner
I’m new to overt and this has been a rapid learning curve, and come to point
where I need assistance.

The objective of this project is to provide via a igel thin client a seamless
multimedia experience for the end user.

The environment is based upon both host and virtual instance using Centos 7.2
and ovirt 4.0.

The igel thin client is designed to use the RHEV spice environment, so this is
the first point of pain for this project. I can only the igel client to
interact with the associating the firefox then finding the virt-viewer binary
with the igel operating system. Not very seamless to provide multimedia
experience for the end user.

igel terminal is running the latest update.

I’ve also engaged igel technical support but centos 7.2, and ovirt 4.0 seems to
be breaking new ground.

Next point of pain is performance of multimedia on the thin client, less then
satisfactory experience. Once again any helpful suggestions would be
appreciated.

If I’ve left anything out in the description of what trying to achieve, let me
know, and shall fill in the gaps.

Once again any assistance would be appreciated.

Craig

Well, Redhat is using it and calls it Rhev and it has support contracts
for it :-)
Other than that I don't know of any company supplying support for it.

If the intention is to fence a VM because an external HA cluster controls
it, this is possible using fence_rhevm[1], which is part of the
fence-agents package.
Note that it currently has a bug[2] which means it's currently not working
with 4.0 (but it's an easy fix).

It's not a bug. This is by design. When user has 'create_vm' permission and
he is using
UserPortal or filtered REST API, then he will get UserVmManager permission
on newly created VM
and with this permission you can delete that VM, but not any other vm, only
the one you've created.

Could you be more specific about error?

not that I did troubleshoot it, nor not much of an error,
kvm guest would not boot up spitting something like "no boot
disk/device found".

downgrade and guest would boot again no probs.

Re: [ovirt-users] How can I import VMWare OVA file to oVirt 4.0?

2016-12-14 Thread Shahar Havivi
Hi,
I was able to import your VMs with storage domain that had 350GB free.
Your ova have a disk with 1GB actual size and 256 virtual size - when I try
to import to a storage with 50G I got the error that you had.

if you will look at /var/log/vdsm/import/... you will see the logs of each
import,
In the one that fail I found this line:
qemu-img: error while writing sector 423174528: No space left on device

virt-v2v try to convert via qemu-img the img from vmdk to qcow and
encountered free space issue in the storage domain.

Please consider asking the mailing list libgues...@redhat.com about this
issue or try to increase your storage domain if you want a quick fix.

The reason that I think you where able to import via the virt-v2v command
is the usage of 'virt-v2v -o null' which is not writing to the disk.

Shahar.

it is probably a bug. worth filing a bug (ovirt-engine, virt)
there’s likely no easy workaround…you can try to create your own role with only

You can destroy the domain. It will remove the domain and its disks from
the engine DB.
Right click on the relevant domain which is in 'maintenance' -> 'Destroy'

Fencing in the VM level is not available yet, but will be possible
once we have vm-leases:
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/vm-leases/

On top of this, we will support automatic failover of vms:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/pull/586/commits/77669161397ebf4cc15c66e0e6876bc033384cfc

This should be available in 4.1, currently blocked by libvirt bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1403691

Once a vm has a lease, you can revoke the lease from another host, causing
sanlock on the original host to terminate the vm using sanlock_request() api.

When this will be implemented, we can expose this via the REST API and the SDK.

[ovirt-users] Remove Storage Domain

2016-12-14 Thread Gary Pedretty
How do you remove a data storage domain, that is not the primary data domain?
The glusterfs it was based on is no longer available and the domain is stuck in
maintenance mode. It will not detach because it has disks on it. The disks
have all been deactivated and replaced in the VMs they were used on. Seems
like a catch-22 in that I cannot delete the disks from the VMs since the
storage domain is in maintenance, but I cannot activate the domain since the
glusterfs volume it was based on no longer exists. For now I am just ignoring
it in the Data Center. The VMs seem fine ignoring the deactivated disks, but
it all looks a bit messy.
