Re: [ovirt-users] Building ovirt-host-deploy gives `configure: error: otopi-devtools required but missing`

2017-05-18 Thread Leni Kadali Mutungi
By the way, how does WildFly fit into all of this? Because I
downloaded a zip file from their site as referenced here:
https://github.com/leni1/oVirt-docs-Debian/blob/master/oVirt-Development-Environment.md
and it seemed to me that zip contained a script that runs the WildFly
server instance within the terminal. How is it supposed to interact
with the oVirt engine and how do I make sure to run it such that there
are no errors arising from not having it. As of now I run it as a
standalone server according to the instructions in the README.txt file
that comes with the zip file:

Starting a Standalone Server

A WildFly standalone server runs a single instance.

/bin/standalone.sh (Unix / Linux)

[ovirt-users] upload image

2017-05-18 Thread qinglong.d...@horebdata.cn
Hi all,
I wanted to upload a qcow2 image using web UI. But I got an error:
"Unable to upload image to disk a38f29f4-594a-438b-a8e0-6a85ac56055d due to a
network error. Make sure ovirt-imageio-proxy service is installed and
configured, and ovirt-engine's certificate is registered as a valid CA in the
browser."
The ovirt-imageio-proxy service had been installed when I excuted
"engine-setup". What shoud I do about ovirt-imageio-proxy or CA? Hope someone
can help, thanks!

Re: [ovirt-users] Network interface not working

2017-05-18 Thread Lev Veyde
Hi Alexander,

So if I understand it correctly, you have the following configuration:
- 2 hosts, each having 2 NICs
- 2 virtual machines, each have a connection to each one of the NICs
available on the hosts

On one of the VMs you only see 1 NIC instead of the 2?

Are you sure that the VM is properly configured to have 2 NICs?

What Linux distro and version you're using on the hosts and inside the VMs ?

Can you please send us:
- the logs from the VM, e.g. /var/log/messages
- the output of lspci -v
- the output of ip link

Thanks in advance,

[ovirt-users] Upgrade from rhel 6.7 to 6.8 breaks virt-viewer console

2017-05-18 Thread cmc
Hi,

Having trouble launching consoles for VMs on rhel 6.8 (virt-viewer
2.0-14). I get:

"At least Remote Viewer version 99.0-1 is required to setup this connection"

It works fine in rhel 6.7 (using firefox or chrome). I downgraded the
version of virt-viewer to the 6.7 version (2.0-7) in 6.8 but then I
get a proxy error (no proxy is set in the browser).

Can someone tell me whether it is possible to get virt-viewer to
launch a console for a VM with oVirt 4.1 and rhel 6.8? This redhat
article (https://access.redhat.com/articles/2800531) says you need to
upgrade to rhel 7.0, but that is not an option. I've also read that it
was possible with a workaround with 4.0 but not 4.1.

Thanks for any help.

So this has changed in 4.1. You can now choose to seal a template during
its creation. This will take a VM, that may have not been sealed, create a
template out of it and then invoke virt-sysprep on the template's disks.

Joel, in the 'make template' dialog you'll see a checkbox (at the bottom)
for 'Seal Template' that will do the trick. There is also a 'seal'
parameter in the REST-API, of course [1].

Re: [ovirt-users] migration of a VM: fails

2017-05-18 Thread cmc
I have to shut the VM down to stop it trying to repeatedly trying to
migrate the problematic host (always the same one). If I take it out
of maintenance, it will move the VMs back to balance (as per policy),
so this is rather inconvenient. It took leaving it overnight and
letting oVirt try repeatedly every few minutes to get it to migrate
the VM (I can't wait that long, so I've had to shut that VM down for
now)

Hi, /dev/sda3 should work, the error here is possibly due to filesystem
signature.

Can you please set wipefs=yes? For example

[pv]
action=create
wipefs=yes
devices=/dev/sda3

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine Setup with the gluster bricks on the same disk as the OS

2017-05-18 Thread Mike DePaulo
Well, I tried both of the following:
1. Having only a boot partition and a PV for the OS that does not take
up the entire disk, and then specifying "sda" in Hosted Engine Setup.
2. Having not only a boot partition and a PV for the OS, but also an
empty (and not formatted) /dev/sda3 PV that I created with fdisk.
Then, specfying "sda3" in Hosted Engine Setup.

Both attempts resulted in errors like this:
failed: [centerpoint.ad.depaulo.org] (item=/dev/sda3) => {"failed":
true, "failed_when_result": true, "item": "/dev/sda3", "msg": "
Device /dev/sda3 not found (or ignored by filtering).\n", "rc": 5}

It seems like having gluster bricks on the same disk as the OS doesn't
work at all.

I am going to buy separate OS SSDs.

i've just started to use oVirt Node and i'm beginning to realize
that things are a _little_ bit different compared to a standard
linux host.

Well, yes/no. We whitelist which packages are able to be updated from
the oVirt repositories and disable the base centos repositories, but you
can easily change "enabled=0" to "enabled=1" in any of them, or add your
own repos just like you would with CentOS.

In general, I'd recommend not including updates for any packages which
are part of Node itself, but that decision is yours to make.

this brings me to another update related question:
right now oVirt Nodes in my test environment can connect to the
internet and there recently was an update available which i applied
through the engine gui, which seemed to finish successfully. i
remember wondering how i could check what actually changend, there
was eg. no kernel change IIRC. today i discovered that on both
updated hosts /tmp/imgbased.log exists and ends in an error:

Node is still an A/B image, so you'd need to reboot in order to see a
new kernel, if it's part of a new image.

subprocess.CalledProcessError: Command '['lvcreate', '--thin',
'--virtualsize', u'8506048512B', '--name',
'ovirt-node-ng-4.1.1.1-0.20170406.0', u'HostVG/pool00']' returned
non-zero exit status 5

i have to mention i manually partitioned my oVirt Node host when i
installed it from the installer ISO (because i want to use software
raid).
i used partitioning recommendations from
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1369874
 (doubling size
recommendations).

As long as you're thinly provisioned, this should update normally,,
though I have to say that I haven't tried software RAID.

did my oVirt Node update complete successfully?
how can i check this?
why was there an lvcreate error?

I'll try to reproduce this, but attempting the lvcreate by hand may give
some usable debugging information.

'imgbase layout' says:
ovirt-node-ng-4.1.1.1-0.20170406.0
  +- ovirt-node-ng-4.1.1.1-0.20170406.0+1

If 'imgabase layout' only shows these, then it's likely that it didn't
update. Node uses LVM directly, so "lvm lvs" may show a new device, but
from the command above, I'm guessing it wasn't able to create it. I'd
suspect that it wasn't able to create it because it's the same version,
and LVM sees a duplicate LV. Can you attach your engine log (or the yum
log from the host) so we can see what it pulled?

i'll try the update with another oVirt Node where i'll stay with
standard partitioning and see what happens. i have to understand the
update process more thoroughly anyway

[ovirt-users] Workaround for https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435207

2017-05-18 Thread gflwqs gflwqs
Hi list,
I think i have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435207.

However last comment is from 2017-05-17.

Since all vm:s on the host is getting unresponsive the only thing i can do
to fix it is to restart vdsmd.
That works for an hour or so but then all vm:s getting unresponsive again.

Does anybody know if there is a workaround for this bug?

Hi,
according to
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/guest-agent/install-the-guest-agent-in-debian/
Debian 7 or higher is needed for running the guest agent.
Adding the guest agent maintainer for further details.

Hello Joel,

as far as i know, virt-sysprep has to be executed inside the VM before
cloning it to template. This removes some infos from the VM like udev
rules & ssh keys.

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirtmgmt network out of sync

2017-05-18 Thread Michael Burman
Yes, thanks)

Engine complains about the bootproto , he is expecting dhcp, but you
configured it manually with static.
Was it dhcp before the upgrade?

There is an option to change it back to dhcp, restart network service and
this should be fixed. But i don't think that this is what you looking for
as you may loose connectivity for few seconds.
I don't think there is another option to sync the network while a running
VM using it, at least not that i'm aware of.

Maybe Dan or Yevgeny will have some insight.

Just to be clear, you upgraded both engine and vdsm?
I'm a bit confused from your ifcfg files, you said you created the
ifcfg-ovirtmgmt manually after the upgrade, but it was generated by an
older vdsm version 4.17.23.2-0.el7.centos, and the physical interface
generated with a newer vdsm version 4.19.10.1-1.el7.centos.

I don't think we need the whole /vdsm , only the relevant vdsm log from the
upgrade time, can you locate it?
and the supervdsm.log as well.

Thanks,

Please tell what is the tooltip saying. What is the reason for networks
 being out-of-sync?

It is possible that the out-of-sync is the reason for the network
 issue.
It's a real problem that your ifcfg-ovirtmgmt file was missing after
upgrade, could it be that it wasn't persisted and saved on the host before
 running the upgrade?

 - Can you please try to press the 'refresh caps' button?
 - Does the 'save Network Configuration' button grayed out or it's
 possible to press it?
 - Another option is to migrate the hosted-engine VM to another host in
the cluster and then sync the network on the host.(as you can't sync a
network being used by a running VM).

The problem is that the Makefile uses the current working directory to
setup the GOPATH. When you use 'sudo' the current working directory is
the home of the root user, hence the Makefile won't work. Please try to
run the build with a non-root user, just go into the the source
directory and type 'make build'.

You will also need to make sure that the user has docker permissions, if
you didn't do it yet. To do so just add it to the 'docker' group. For
example, in Fedora or RHEL:

  usermod -aG docker youruser

Note that once you do that you will need to re-login to make it effective.

let say hostB mounted glusterFS partition by using backup vol (e.g.

mount will not switch automatically to Host A .

In an ideal case i.e with out using backup-vol-file-server option if
host B goes down, you mount will not be accessible since host B went
down and df -TH or mount does not show the volume or it says "Transport
End point not connected".

Take the case where using backup-volfile-server option. If host B goes
down, your mount will still be accessible since there is
backup-volfile-server and df -TH or mount still shows that volume is
mounted using Host B, but all the internal requests will be served
through Host A.

Hi,

backup-volfile-servers is mainly used to avoid SPOF. For
example take a scenario where you have Host A and Host B and when
you try to mount a glusterfs volume using Host A with
backup-volfile-servers specified, if Host A is not accessible,
mount will happen with Host B which is specified in
backup-volfile-server. backup-volfile-servers are mainly used to
fetch the volfile from gluster and has nothing to do with data sync.

data syncing comes as part of replicate feature in glusterfs
where say for example, you have two Hosts Host A and Host B with
replica volume configured, if Host A goes down for sometime, all
the writes happens on Host B and when Host A comes up data gets
synced to HostA.

Hope this helps
