Simone, my ovirt cluster upgrade from 3.4... and i have too old logs.

I'm confused by the execution of the hosted-engine --get-shared-config
gateway ...
I get the output "gateway: 10.245.183.1, type: he_conf", but my
current hosted-engine.conf is overwritten by the other
hosted-engine.conf.

BUMP

I resolved error "KeyError: 'Configuration value not found:
file=/etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf, key=gateway'".

This error was caused... "/VDSGenericException: VDSErrorException:
received downloaded data size is wrong (requested 20480, received
10240)/", the solution is here https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3106231

But in my case there is still a problem with the inappropriate
parameters in hosted-engine.conf ... I think I should use "hosted-engine
--set-shared-config" to change the values on the shared storage. This is
right?

Guru help to solve this.

[ovirt-users] Defining custom network filter or editing existing

2018-02-12 Thread Tim Thompson

All,

I was wondering if someone can point me in the direction of the
documentation related to defining custom network filters (nwfilter) in
4.2. I found the docs on assigning a network filter to a vNIC profile,
but I cannot find any mention of how you can create your own. Normally
you'd use 'virst nwfilter-define', but that is locked out since vdsm
manages everything. I need to expand clean-traffic's scope to include
ipv6, since it doesn't handle ipv6 at all by default, it seems.

Thanks,

-Tim

I think mirrors are still syncing, but resources.ovirt.org is updated.
You can switch from mirrorlist to baseurl in your yum config file if you
don't want to wait for the mirror to finish the sync.

[ovirt-users] Fwd: Can't add/remove usb device to VM

2018-02-12 Thread Jon bae
A little update:
I found out that I have to activate *Hostdev Passthrough* (is this really
necessary for USB devices?). Now I see all the devices and I can add also
an USB device.
But I'm still not able to disconnect the USB from the old VM.

To: users

Hello,
I run oVirt 4.2.1, in 4.1 I added a USB device to a VM and now I wanted to
change this device to a different VM.
But I found out, that I'm not able to remove this device nor I'm able to
add any device to any VM. The device list is empty.

I found a bug report, what describe this error:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1531847

Is there a solution for that?

The USB device is a hardware dongle and it is very impotent for us to
change this.

Any workaround is welcome!

Hello,
could you confirm that for plain CentOS 7.4 hosts there was no changes
between rc3 and final 4.2.1?
I just updated an environment that was in RC3 and while the engine has been
updated, the host says no updates:

 [root@ov42 ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, product-id, search-disabled-repos
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * base: artfiles.org
 * extras: ba.mirror.garr.it
 * ovirt-4.2: ftp.nluug.nl
 * ovirt-4.2-epel: epel.besthosting.ua
 * updates: ba.mirror.garr.it
No packages marked for update
[root@ov42 ~]#

The mirrors seem the same that the engine has used some minutes before, so
they should be ok...

engine packages passed from ovirt-engine-4.2.1.4-1.el7.centos.noarch
to ovirt-engine-4.2.1.6-1.el7.centos.noarch

Base oVirt related packages on host are currently of this type, since
4.2.1rc3:

libvirt-daemon-3.2.0-14.el7_4.7.x86_64
ovirt-host-4.2.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64

Re: [ovirt-users] CentOS 7 Hyperconverged oVirt 4.2 with Self-Hosted-Engine with glusterfs with 2 Hypervisors and 1 glusterfs-Arbiter-only

2018-02-12 Thread Martin Sivak
Hi,

this should work according to my gluster colleagues.

The recommended way to install this would be by using one of the
"full" nodes and deploying hosted engine via cockpit there. The
gdeploy plugin in cockpit should allow you to configure the arbiter
node.

The documentation for deploying RHHI (hyper converged RH product) is
here:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_hyperconverged_infrastructure/1.1/html-single/deploying_red_hat_hyperconverged_infrastructure/index#deploy

Best regards

[ovirt-users] CentOS 7 Hyperconverged oVirt 4.2 with Self-Hosted-Engine with glusterfs with 2 Hypervisors and 1 glusterfs-Arbiter-only

2018-02-12 Thread Philipp Richter
Hi,

I'm trying to install oVirt 4.2 as 2-Node Hyperconverged System based on
glusterfs.
A third node should be used as glusterfs arbiter Node and to provide Quorum for
the Cluster.
The third node is a small PCEngines APU2 Host, so it is not usable as
Hypervisor.

My question is: Is this kind of setup possible?
What is the best way to install a cluster like this one?

Thanks,

Hi Idan,

thanks for your answer. But i'm still confused, because i thought
that the content of /sys/block/dm-X/queue/discard* in the VM OS
should depend on the setting of the "discard=(unmap|ignore)" setting
in the qemu-kvm command. Unexpectedly it's the same in both cases
(it's >0, saying discard is 'on'). I was then trying to inquire
about the TRIM/UNMAP capability of block devices in the VM with
"sdparm -p lbp /dev/sdx", but i always get "Logical block
provisioning (SBC) mode subpage failed".

The file /sys/block/dm-X/queue/discard_max_bytes in sysfs tells you
whether your underlying storage supports discard.
The flag discard=unmap of the VM in qemu means that qemu will not throw
away the UNMAP commands comming from the guest OS (by default it does
throw them away).

From what I know, the file in sysfs and the VM flag are not related.

Thank you, i will now finally accept it ;-)

Just for the records: This is where i got my info from:

Thanks for the info.
In the mean time after installing virtio-win on proxy host I retried with
the same version of virt-v2v provided with 4.1.9:
virt-v2v-1.36.3-6.el7_4.3.x86_64
and then selecting and injecting it in the import window and the VM
correctly starts with virtio drivers (version 61.74.104.14100) after a
reboot requested (first starts remains in black window for a couple of
minutes and then asks to restart)
It also has qxl drivers (6.1.0.1024)
But the VM remains as "Other OS" and obviously has no hv_ optimization.
I'm going to try the new version as you suggested.
It would be nice also to have virtio-scsi option and not only the virtio
option directly in import function

BTW: I see that in case a target VM with the same name of source exists,
I'm given an error and I can't change the VM name on destination
This seems to me a big limitation, because forces to rename the source VM
or rename a pre-existing VM at destination with the same name

I have no idea where did you get

"Cluster PROD is at version 4.2 which is not supported by this upgrade flow.
Please fix it before upgrading."

Please do not cut output and provide exact one.

IIUC you should do 'yum update ovirt\*setup\*' and then 'engine-setup'
and only after it would finish successfully you would do 'yum -y update'.
 Maybe that's your problem?

Did you set global maintenance mode at update time?
If not, ovirt-ha-agent could try to restart the engine VM for HA reasons in
the middle of the update with potentially dangerous results.

Hi,
you can add 'bootOrder:1' and the path to your iso image after 'path:' on
your cdrom device line in a local copy of vm.conf.
You have also to remove 'bootOrder:1' from the disk device.

So you can try starting the VM with
  hosted-engine --vm-start --vm-conf=/your/custom/vm.conf

Good luck
