Much appreciated.

I need the read bandwidth, write bandwidth, read latency, write latency,
read iops, wrote iops of all disks available in ovirt.

So which is the table I need to look ?

Thanks

If you searched in the archives you'll find the explanation: postgres comes
from softwarecollections.

You need to do this:

su - postgres
scl enable rh-postgresql95 bash
psql

[ovirt-users] Unable to add host to cluster after network

2018-04-17 Thread ~Stack~
Greetings,

After a few days of trial, error, and madness - I *think* I found the
source of my problem. Or at least I can now replicate it reliably. These
are the basics of my speed-run-to-test-failures setup.

Fresh minimal install of Scientific Linux 7.4 on a physical host for my
engine. Add the 4.2 repo and run engine-setup - just blast through the
defaults. Configure it with default DC and cluster.

Fresh minimal install of Scientific Linux 7.4 on node1 - configure only
the primary network card. Add the ovirt repo.

Add the host into cluster. Provisions just fine. Life is good.

Now here is where things split.

Scenario 1: build node2 same as node 1 configuring only the primary
network card and add it as a host. Provisions just fine. Life is good.

Scenario 2: Configure a second network. In my case a BMC/IPMI network.
Doesn't matter if it is required or not - both will cause failures
however the errors are slightly more evident with required. Make sure
the network is assigned to your node1 and is properly assigned an IP and
configured in the up state. Now build node2 same as before with only the
primary network configured and add it as a host.

Failure followed by infinite loop of setting it into Non-Operational!

The pop-up gives you some crap about "Host has no default route." but
that is 100% a red-herring.

Dig a little deeper and you get a message like this:
"node2 does not comply with the cluster Default networks, the following
networks are missing on host: 'ovirtmgmt'"

Ah. That's a bit more relevant, but why can't it configure it? Or at
least get to the point where it asks me "Hey, networking is a bit off -
do you want to configure that now?" That would be nice...

Fortunately the troubleshooting guide has something about that!
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/troubleshooting/troubleshooting/

Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything to help. Even after doing these
steps, the loop just keeps going...nothing changes.
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/developer-guide/vdsm/installing-vdsm-from-rpm/

Scratch it all and completely rebuild AGAIN for...
Scenario 3: Configure a second network (BMC) and assign it to node1 just
like before. Build out node2 same as node1 but this time add in the
EXACT SAME NETWORK CONFIGURATION THAT IS WORKING ON NODE1 - ALL of the
ifcfg-* files (but update the IP address to correct host, obviously).
Now add it as a host.

Doh! Same error. :-/

OK fine. Let's really get into it. First off, the networking page for
the host is blank. It never pulls back the network cards so you can't
actually make changes via the web page. Nor can you assign networks. So
the web interface doesn't help at all.

Let's look at the engine log instead.

Thanks! I realized yesterday that I've got a few hosts I was in the process
of decommissioning that I can temporarily use for this. So my new plan is
to build a 3-node cluster with junk hosts and cycle in the good ones.

Keep monitoring you storage backend interface and see what's going on there if
you don't see anything special on the host. It could be the network that leads
to slow IO as well, who knows.
If the initial VM creation is taking long you might want to create a pool from
your template with Pre-Started VMs, and that would at least save you from the
wait when you actually need the VM.

Hey Guys,

We Deploy a lot of Templates. We got our Training Environment build in Ovirt.

Our Problem – when we Deploy the Same Template. The VM´s getting slower every
Time we deply a new VM from that Template.

And I really don’t know why. RAM locking good – CPU and Network looking good.

But it take about 15 Minute to create a new Template based VM – normaly it
takes about 30 Seconds.

I checked nload and the Interface traffic – but its not really high.

Can someone explain why its getting so slow and how to troubleshoot?

I believe you can turn of this check by setting:

SSO_CALLBACK_PREFIX_CHECK=false
/etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/11-setup-sso.conf

but you should check if your ENGINE_FQDN matches what you are using in /etc/
ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/10-setup-protocols.conf.

Well, first of all - it is very tricky and risky. We have a good reason to
require 3 hosts in HC cluster - data redundancy and service reliability. If
you have luxury of turning everything down and upgrading using
backup/restore or something similar - please, go this way.

But in case you really really really need to upgrade your deployment in
your way, you can try following:

* Backup first :-)
* Upgrade your OS to the maximum version supported by 3.6 and any of the
next ovirt releases. You can also try to upgrade ovirt first.
* Remove one of the nodes from your cluster
* Manually install gluster servers on all 3 nodes and create a replicated
volumes for your future engine and vms
* Deploy HE on the free node, using existing gluster volumes
* Migrate VMs to that engine.
* One by one remove hosts from your old cluster and add them to your new
cluster
* When you will finish that, backup again :) and try to continue your
upgrade.

The whole idea of the process, described above, is to provide you with
gluster replica 3 volume from the very beginning. Technically you can use a
single brick distributed volume to install new engine and migrate VMs to
your new cluster, but problems with that single brick distributed volume
will affect all your VMs.

Another one option for you is to make replicated volume in a single host.
If you have enough space for keeping data thee times, you can:

* Backup (!)
* Remove one of the hosts from service, upgrade it
* And after that create replica 3 volumes for the engine and VMs, using 6
_local_ bricks
* Migrate VMs from one of your hosts
* Upgrade that second hosts, add it to your new cluster and manually
migrate two bricks (one brick per volume) from the first host to the second
host.
* Repeat for remaining host

Both approaches are VERY risky and highly THEORETICAL. I don't think anyone
ever did that, so think twice before doing that. Following any of those
scenario requires you to deeply understand, what are you doing and involves
a lot of work in console. Seriously, thnk one more time before following
them.

Re: [ovirt-users] Admin user locked

2018-04-17 Thread Eitan Raviv
The interval failures mean that after some failed access attempts (made
periodically) engine locks the credentials with which the attempts were
made.
>From the your log it looks like recurring access attempts to the Gluster
Volumes list have been made to host1.
It looks like at one point the admin profile became 'N/A' and then switched
back to admin.
Did you do any changes to the admin user?
Can you unlock the admin user, reset it, restart engine and see if these
problems recurr?

To unlock you can use (from a bash shell): "ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool user unlock
admin"

Hey Thank you,

If been monitoring vor about an Hour now. The Templates VM´s are really slow –
copy a new Template is slow. Non Template VM´s are fast

Storage IO is average on 75 M/s Read Disk and 25 Write Disk. ( SSD Raid )
Network is on 500 Mbits/s internal ( 10 Gbit Stroage connection )
And about 25Mbit/s external ( 400.000 k Internet )

I realy cant find that bottle neck

Keep monitoring you storage backend interface and see what's going on there if
you don't see anything special on the host. It could be the network that leads
to slow IO as well, who knows.
If the initial VM creation is taking long you might want to create a pool from
your template with Pre-Started VMs, and that would at least save you from the
wait when you actually need the VM.

Hi Michal, I've added libvirt logs for relevant VMs on the previous
Dropbox share.

I've already moved to Minimal Downtime and then to Post-copy with same
results. VM migrations continue to fail randomly.

[ovirt-users] Performance Issue

2018-04-17 Thread Thomas Fecke
Hey Guys,

We Deploy a lot of Templates. We got our Training Environment build in Ovirt.

Our Problem - when we Deploy the Same Template. The VM´s getting slower every
Time we deply a new VM from that Template.

And I really don't know why. RAM locking good - CPU and Network looking good.

But it take about 15 Minute to create a new Template based VM - normaly it
takes about 30 Seconds.

I checked nload and the Interface traffic - but its not really high.

Can someone explain why its getting so slow and how to troubleshoot?

[ovirt-users] Admin user locked

2018-04-17 Thread Hari Prasanth Loganathan
Hi Team,

What is the reason for the following lock error for admin user?

2018-04-16 21:12:38,278+05 INFO
[org.ovirt.engine.extension.aaa.jdbc.core.Authentication] (default task-17)
[] locking user: admin due to interval failures

I am able to unlock it. But I would like to know the reason for this error?

Thanks,
Hari
