While I recommend looking at Ansible, https://github.com/fbacchella/ovirtcmd
is also an interesting option.

I've looked for it and I saw that ovirt-shell is already deprecated.

If I increase the number of hosts from 3 to 3+n, what is the proper way to add
gluster volumes (data/engine/vmstore) to the new hosts?

I would like the new hosts to also be hyperconverged (aka compute + storage)

[ovirt-users] Updating SSL Certificate for oVirt websocket proxy

2018-06-01 Thread Vrgotic, Marko
Dear oVirt team,

I have successfully updated/replaced SSL certificate for oVirt, following
instruction on page:
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/appe-oVirt_and_SSL/

However, this did not cover part related to websocketproxy used for spice-html5
web console.

The one from:
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/virt/console-client-resources/

Still works, but I would like to update that one as well.

Can somebody share instructions with me on how to execute these steps?

Thank you.

[ovirt-users] Install hosted-engine - Task Get local VM IP failed

2018-06-01 Thread florentl

Hi all,
I try to install hosted-engine on node : ovirt-node-ng-4.2.3-0.20180518.
Every times I get stuck on :
[ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"attempts": 50, "changed":
true, "cmd": "virsh -r net-dhcp-leases default | grep -i
00:16:3e:6c:5a:91 | awk '{ print $5 }' | cut -f1 -d'/'", "delta":

"2018-06-01 11:17:34.312897", "stderr": "", "stderr_lines": [],
"stdout": "", "stdout_lines": []}

I tried with static IP Address and with DHCP but both failed.

To be more specific, I installed three nodes, deployed glusterfs with
the wizard. I'm in a nested virtualization environment for this lab
(Vmware Esxi Hypervisor).
My node IP is : 192.168.176.40 / and I want the hosted-engine vm has
192.168.176.43.

Thanks,
Florent

2018-06-01 Thread Andrej Krejcir
The UI supports plugins. So you could maybe write a plugin, that would then
use the ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool.

I don't know much about UI plugins, but here is some info:

Hi,
Users are not created using the UI. Ovirt can be connected to various external
user domains. The UI can then be used to assign permissions to existing users or
groups.
Here is the
documentation:https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Users_and_Roles/
The 'ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool' can be used to create users locally.

[ovirt-users] Re: Non-responsive vm's due to crashed host and hosted vm liveliness check fails

2018-06-01 Thread Andrej Krejcir
This is an error from the VNC client, probably related to X forwarding.
Try setting the DISPLAY environment variable before running remote-viewer:
'export DISPLAY=0:0'

Or alternatively, you could setup port forwarding when connecting the the
host,
and then run the VNC client on your local machine:

ssh -L 5900:localhost:5900 r...@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
remote-viewer vnc://localhost:5900

if you haven’t used the display address override then it uses whatever you’ve
used in Host dialog. If you added host using IP address it’s going to use that
IP address.

2018-06-01 Thread Jonathan Del Campo
Hello,

I am looking for a specialized Ovirt partner in France in order to operate
a migration of our system from 3.x to 4.x.

Can someone recommend an Ovirt service partner to perform this kind of
operations ?

many thanks.

[ovirt-users] Re: how to use oVirt engine API to retrieve the attached VM list by a disk id.

2018-06-01 Thread Joey Ma
As a side note, The current the v4.3 API docs shows that the only field of
a disk that can be update is `qcow_version` (
http://ovirt.github.io/ovirt-engine-api-model/4.3/#services/disk/methods/update).
While all the properties, including the inner disk properties, are
supported when updating a disk-attachment (
http://ovirt.github.io/ovirt-engine-api-model/4.3/#services/disk_attachment/methods/update
).

So if I want to extend the disk size or some other changes, I need to use
its disk-attachment representation. However, the v4.3 API does not support
to fetch all the relevant disk-attachments by a disk id.

In my view, maybe there should have a interconnection of the disk,
disk-attachment and vm.

Thanks.

Take 2 cases for examples:

1. Updating the attributes of a disk needs to also update the corresponding
disk-attachment, which requires the vm id to initialize the VMService. The
code shows as blow:

`connnection.SystemService().VMsService().VMService(vmid).DiskAttachmentsService().Update()`.

2. Deleting a disk needs to make sure all the VMs it's attached to have
been powered down (if not, we could directly power down them). Then we
could detach the disk for each VM and removes the disk finally.
