2018-06-12 Thread Hari Prasanth Loganathan
Hi Yedidyah,

Thanks for your response. I also tried creating the file, writing some
content to the VM guest console. Still, I didn't see any increase in the
values, It is always 0.

2018-06-12 Thread Leo David
Thank you very much Semi. The reinstallation would not be an problem, being
the fact that i've spent so much in sorting this issue.
I don't understant the "setup a blacklist part" . What does this mean, how
should I do it ?
I have looked over the other oVirt nodes that I have in the network, and
the mpath is active on their rootfs as well.
I have used the 4.2-2018052606.iso image for instalation for cluster nodes
and for single instance too.
Would it be possible to have a bug in this version ?
What iso should I use just to be sure everything will work good ?
Again, thank you very much !

Storage domain is a pool of storage based on a LUN in case of SAN or path
in case of NAS storage.
A storage domain can be formed based on a 1 or more LUNs.

You basically carve out LUNs to create Storage Domains in oVirt and
create virtual disks out of that (the Storage Domain acts like a pool of
storage for oVirt use).

While there are use cases for direct LUN mapping, it's not the "norm".

So the multipath "3614187705c01820022b002b00c52f72e" that was shown in the
error is actually the root filesystem, which was created at node
installation ( from iso ).
Is this mpath ok that is activated on sda ?
What should I do in this situation ?
Thank you very much for help !

2018-06-12 Thread femi adegoke
It looks like the same error I had where oVirt keeps "trying" to use the
multipath disk as part of the install.

The solution (unfortunately) is to re-install the o/s, then setup a blacklist &
then proceed with the rest of the ovirt install.

There is no way to release that disk from multipath since it is part of the
root filesystem.

[ovirt-users] Install CiscoISE VM on oVirt

2018-06-12 Thread Anantha Raghava
Hi,

I am not sure whether I should write it here. However the documents
referred to specifies that I have change something in BIOS of VM & there is
no way to get access to BIOS. Hence I am writing here.

I am trying to install Cisco ISE in a VM on oVirt. The installation process
halts reporting "Unsupported Hardware Found. The Cisco UDI (Unique Device
Identifier) found on this appliance does not match with supported UDI of
the product being Installed. Exiting installation"

However it works perfectly on VMWare ESXi, VMWare Workstation and VMWare
Fusion. In fact I tested this in VMWare Workstation and VMWare Fusion. The
same ISO file throws above error.

Cisco ISE is based on RHEL 7 and it is hardened.

Has any one attempted to install Cisco ISE in oVirt? Any one throw some
light?

My oVirt Version 4.2.3 and Hosts are on 4.1.9

Thanks & regards,

Anantha Raghava

You can always build from source :) But in this case we build all the time
for you, so just grab a snapshot of 4.3.

I am having an issue getting users to authenticate using the Active

users are unable to authenticate.  Testing using my own account results

[ovirt-users] Grubx64.efi missing from boot partition

2018-06-12 Thread Hanson Turner

Hi Guys,

We went to physically move a node and have found the node will not boot
successfully anymore.

The error coming up is :failed to open/ file not found:

\EFI\BOOT\grubx64.efi

This file is found in \EFI\centos\grubx64.efi.

I have copied it to \EFI\BOOT\ and got the machine to boot, however, it
has no working networking.

Modifying /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-xyzabz123 appropriately restored
networking, however, the node is not able to be resumed/activated.

This is probably because the blade reports the following interfaces:

eno1, eno2, eno3, eno4

When originally deployed, they were eno1,eno2, eth0, eth1.

The engine still sees the host as having the eno+eth combo.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks!

Are your disks "multipathing"?

What's your output if you run the command multipath -ll

For comparison sake, here is my gdeploy.conf (used for a single host gluster
install) - lv1 was changed to 62gb

[ovirt-users] Spice console pixelated noise on display changes

2018-06-12 Thread Mitja Mihelič

Dear all,

We are running the following setup:
ovirt-engine host:
- CentOS release 7.5.1804
- ovirt-engine-4.1.9.1-1.el7.centos.noarch
- spice-html5-0.1.7-1.el7.noarch

We have noticed problems with the Spice console. When it opens and
displays the information presented by the VM's console it is OK at
first. But as soon as any part of the display changes, that part gets
replaced by random pixelated noise.
For example I open the console of a standard CentOS server. When I type
something at the login prompt the text is invisible and random pixels
are displayed at the position of the blinking cursor. Please see
attached screenshot spice-1-login_typing_and_cursor_waiting.png.

Please also see other the attached screenshots.
Login prompt after VM reboot: spice-2-login_after_boot.png
Login prompt after hitting Enter a few times: spice-3-login_2x_enter.png

We have tried and succesfully reproduced the issue on OSX (Chrome, FF,
Safari) and Windows (Chrome, FF).

VNC works fine.

Why would this be happening? Help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Mitja

Hello everyone,

[ovirt-users] Re: LDAP Authentication issues

2018-06-12 Thread Callum Smith
Dear All,

Seems the required element for the CPU Profile to work is in roles_groups table:

insert into roles_groups (role_id, action_group_id) VALUES
('def00017----def00017', '1668');

Whether the action_group_id is install-specific or not is unclear, but the role
UUID for "CPUOperator" should be standard.

Callum

The next issue, is that CPU Profiles are locked out to even the SuperUser - so

I consider that to be a bug, personally, as a SuperUser should have access to

To solve this in the mean time, i need to know the object_type_id of a cpu
profile to manually reassign permissions to it (you can't control CPU profile
permissions in the GUI either, only view).

Cleaning out the `permissions` table in the database and restoring the defaults
will solve the issue, but you need to restore the SuperUser permission on the
admin@internal account:

Learning from here:
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/developer-guide/action-permissions-overview/

Clean out your `roles_groups` and `permissions`
DELETE FROM `permissions`;
DELETE FROM `roles_groups`;

Restore the defaults:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/dbscripts/data/00600_insert_permissions.sql
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/dbscripts/data/00700_insert_roles_groups.sql

Re-assign the SuperUser role to the admin@internal user:
Either:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/bin/ovirt-engine-role.sh
Or just go straight into your localhost psql on your engine, replacing
information as appropriate:
Get your external_id from the users table and use it in the function:
SELECT external_id FROM `users` WHERE `name` = 'admin' AND `domain` =
'internal-authz';
select
attach_user_to_role('admin','internal-authz','*','#external_id#','SuperUser');

I think the root cause here is that you are trying to login to the webadmin and
not the vm portal. User are authorized to login to the web admin
only if they have a role of type 'admin'. And UserRole is a 'user' type. So the
solution is not the give SuperUser for all those users, this is just a
workaround.

If you want to know for sure, go to Administration - Configure - Roles.

So ask yourself why users need access to the webadmin at all. If they need
admin permission assign them an appropriate role on the DC or the cluster.
If not, they use the VM portal.

Having said all that, if nothing helps and the db needs 'fixing' (I doubt it
though) then this is a bug.

Is this API useless?

Yes - you should first update to the latest 4.1 release, or at least 4.1.7:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1502592
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1503196

Please see this:

https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/upgrade-guide/chap-Updating_the_oVirt_Environment/

I guess we should update the release notes as well, patches are welcome :-)

They are auto-generated, BTW, by this script - so it needs a patch as well:

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/gitweb?p=releng-tools.git;a=blob;f=release_notes_git.py

[ovirt-users] Re: LDAP Authentication issues

2018-06-12 Thread Callum Smith
Dear All,

Process of database "fixing" is required because adding system permissions to
the "Everyone" group is a one-way process that causes many problems and there
is no way to rescue from the GUI, only options are to restore from backup or
rebuild the permissions database.

The next issue, is that CPU Profiles are locked out to even the SuperUser - so
creating a VM with the SuperUser account with reset permissions is denied:
User doesn't have permissions to assign the cpu profile Default with id
58ca604e-01a7-003f-01de-0250 to VMs.

I consider that to be a bug, personally, as a SuperUser should have access to
everything by definition.

To solve this in the mean time, i need to know the object_type_id of a cpu
profile to manually reassign permissions to it (you can't control CPU profile
permissions in the GUI either, only view).

Regards,
Callum

Dear All & Donny,

Thank you for the clarifications, very useful indeed.

A note for future users who go down this path and dont want to restore or
reinstall:

Cleaning out the `permissions` table in the database and restoring the defaults
will solve the issue, but you need to restore the SuperUser permission on the
admin@internal account:

Learning from here:
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/developer-guide/action-permissions-overview/

Clean out your `roles_groups` and `permissions`
DELETE FROM `permissions`;
DELETE FROM `roles_groups`;

Restore the defaults:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/dbscripts/data/00600_insert_permissions.sql
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/dbscripts/data/00700_insert_roles_groups.sql

Re-assign the SuperUser role to the admin@internal user:
Either:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/bin/ovirt-engine-role.sh
Or just go straight into your localhost psql on your engine, replacing
information as appropriate:
Get your external_id from the users table and use it in the function:
SELECT external_id FROM `users` WHERE `name` = 'admin' AND `domain` =
'internal-authz';
select
attach_user_to_role('admin','internal-authz','*','#external_id#','SuperUser');

Regards,
Callum

[ovirt-users] Re: oVirt Metrics

2018-06-12 Thread Shirly Radco
Hi,

No need to install agents in the vms. Collectd virt plugin reports the
statistics about the vms from the host.

Best regards,

That's normal. 'engine-setup' should upgrade the engine if it's successful.

I assume you disabled the versionlock plugin? That's generally not a
good idea, although I didn't try this for a long time now. If you left
the engine down, it might not be a big risk. Otherwise, you ran a new
engine (4.2) against an old database, which is not supposed to work
well.

The message will be fixed in 4.2.4:

This is a bit weird. We'll need setup logs, if we want to try to understand
what happened.

Thanks for the report!

UEFI will likely come in 4.3
