Is ovhost3 - the host hosting arbiter bricks?
What about *sfmo5002ov74* - is this host part of the same cluster in oVirt
as ovhost3.
In oVirt cluster, if you have turned on gluster service for the cluster,
all hosts will be part of the same gluster cluster, whether they have
bricks or not

Now i am not sure what to look for. I have stop the upgrade process until i

We have more USB devices redir (There are 8),But oVirt supports only 6.
How should I configure it.

[ovirt-users] Drive letter / scsi id not consistent

2018-07-19 Thread Nathan March
Hi,

Managing disks in the ovirt gui seems completely error prone since the GUI
ordering does not seem to be used in any practical way. The scsi ID's are not
exposed via the GUI either, so if you have 2 drives of the same size on NFS
there's no way to identify which is which without resorting to dumping the xml.

I see in the xml that the target dev is correct and matches up with the GUI's
drive order, but the scsi unit seems to be generated based on the order of last
activated:

  b622cde9-ffc4-487b-8038-f7cb7fbc00a1

  86765f60-4240-44f4-b437-f22b2cc3df1a

  0b020d24-3dea-4be7-931a-9c25ccfeec48

After deactivating the other 2 disks and rebooting the machine, sda has now
become unit 3:

  b622cde9-ffc4-487b-8038-f7cb7fbc00a1

and then I shutdown, activated the extra 2 drives, booted it back up but now
I'm still on unit 3:

  b622cde9-ffc4-487b-8038-f7cb7fbc00a1

  86765f60-4240-44f4-b437-f22b2cc3df1a

  0b020d24-3dea-4be7-931a-9c25ccfeec48

I managed to get things into the correct state by shutting down the VM,
deactivating all the disks, then activating them in the order I want them to
show up. This sets the correct order of unit 0 for sda, unit 1 for sdb, unit 2
for sdc.

Is there some way to make ovirt treat this in a sane way and always expose the
scsi devices in the same order as the GUI (and the "target dev" field)?

Cheers!

Nathan

[ovirt-users] Re: Cannot start VM due to no active snapshot.

2018-07-19 Thread pwightm
Benny,

Thanks for the response!

I don't think I found the right snapshot ID in the logs, but I was able to
track down an ID in the images table. I've inserted that ID as the active VM
in the snapshots table and it now shows an Active VM with Status:Up disks in my
snapshots view in the WebUI. Unfortunately, though, when I try to start the VM
it still fails.

The new error being thrown is below:

[ovirt-users] Failed to Activated Host

2018-07-19 Thread carl langlois
Hi

Today i had plan to start upgrading my installation to the latest 4.2. As i
was already on a 4.2.x version i have figured it will be easy .. well.guess
what i have having trouble re-activating one of the freshly upgraded host.
So here is the resume.

My setup have 3 hosts that are also part of a gluster pool. Those are the
original host that was use to setup the HA engine with glusterfs. One of
the 3 host is only used for arbiter and can also run the engine. But
nothing else can run on it because it is a fairly small machine.

I have also 6 others hosts for running vms that are not part of the gluster
pool.

So first thing i did to upgrade is set the global maintenance. Update the
Engine/restart the engine and remove global maintenance.. that went without
a glitch.

Next i choose the arbiter for the first machine to upgrade. Then set the
machine to maintenance run the upgrade and reboot the host. That went also
without a glicth.

Now here is the glitchy part. When i try to reactivate the host i got a
strange error with a gluster peer command that failed on a host that is not
in the gluster peer list.

Here is the two errors i had.

*"Gluster command [gluster peer probe ovhost3] failed on server
sfmo5002ov74."*
*"Add Host failed error: ovhost3 is either already part of another cluster
of having volumes configured return code: 3"*

One thing i do not understand is the sfmo5002ov74 is not part of the
gluster pool. It does not provide any bricks to the system.

Now i am not sure what to look for. I have stop the upgrade process until i
figure out the issue.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks
Carl

Shirly, does the ovirt metrics ansible playbooks install and configure
the openshift repos from

Please try ansible 2.5

Also, I believe that you need for now to install ansible 2.5.5 or
2.5.6 due to OpenShift bug.

[ovirt-users] Re: ERROR: integer out of range

2018-07-19 Thread Eli Mesika
Hi

Is there a chance that one of the following Integers passed 2^32 - 1 ???

available_disk_size | integer
confirmed_available_disk_size | integer
used_disk_size| integer
commited_disk_size| integer
actual_images_size| integer
warning_low_space_indicator | integer
critical_space_action_blocker | integer
warning_low_confirmed_space_indicator | integer
external_status | integer

I am suspecting especially all those *size* columns , please check by
extending one by one to BigInt and check if the problem solved

[ovirt-users] Re: Docker best practices

2018-07-19 Thread Николаев Алексей
Thx for all. 18.07.2018, 10:37, "Petr Kotas" :Hi Alex, would you mind being more specific with your question? What are you trying to achieve? According to documentation https://ovirt.org/feature/container-support/ there are two different approaches to working with Docker:1. run the container on hosts virtualization, along with the VM;2. run containers inside VMS managed by oVirt. I would like to hear the pros and cons of each method. Which one is preferable to use in the oVirt infrastructure.  We are working on expanding the integration of oVirt with Openshift origin.Pre-requisite:Openshift 3.9.0Running service catalog Does it require installation of Openshift Origin?___

AFAIK, this only affects OpenShift 3.10 and later.

[ovirt-users] Re: Cannot start VM due to no active snapshot.

2018-07-19 Thread Benny Zlotnik
I can't write an elaborate response since I am away from my laptop, but a
workaround would be to simply insert the snapshot back to the snapshots
table
You need to locate the snapshot's id in the logs where the failure occured
and use vm's id

insert into snapshots values ('', '', 'ACTIVE',
'OK', 'Active VM', '2018-02-21 14:00:11.845-04'

[ovirt-users] Cannot start VM due to no active snapshot.

2018-07-19 Thread pwightm
I've hit the issue described in:
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3393181
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1561052

I have one VM with three disks that cannot start. Logs indicate a null pointer
exception when trying to locate the snapshot. I've verified in the engine db
that no "Active" snapshot exists for the VM (this can also be seen in the
WebUI).

oVirt hosts and engine are both (now) on RHEL7.5. Not sure if this snapshot
failed to create before the hosts were updated to 7.5 - the VM in question is a
server that never gets shutdown but rather is migrated around while we perform
host maintenance.

oVirt: v4.2.1.7-1

Host:
kernel: 3.10.0-862.9.1
KVM: 2.9.0-16
libvirt: libvirt-3.9.0-14.el7_5.6
VDSM: vdsm-4.20.27.1-1

The article just says to contact RH support, but I don't have a RHEV support
agreement for my oVirt cluster. Anyone know how to recover this VM?

could you please share with us complete engine logs using SOS log collector

issue? Also do you remember any steps you have performed before this issue
happened?

[ovirt-users] Re: OVIRT 4.2: MountError on Posix Compliant FS

2018-07-19 Thread jtorres
Hi Sandro,

I finally mounted the GPFS Filesystem as a Data Domain using this parameters on
the form for New Domain :

Domain Function: Data
Name: name_of_the_domain
Storage Type: Posix Compliant FS
Path: gpfs_kvm (the name of the "device"/"filesystem" created, not an absoluthe
path)
VFS Type: gpfs
Mount Options: rw,relatime,dev=gpfs_kvm (the dev parameter is the key to mount
the filesystem).

Due to a changes implemented on the Spectrum Scale / GPFS last versions,
removing the block device on /dev, you must to specify this last parameter to
mount correctly the filesystem. Another point is to check the correct
privileges and ownership of the directory, to allow Ovirt to mount it
correctly, is recommended to mount firts manually the filesystem with mmmount,
and change the owner and privileges over the mountpoint.

Thanks for your help.

I consider that this thread is closed.

We are working on expanding the integration of oVirt with Openshift origin
- see
ovirt-openshift-extensions[1] project for the details. A core feature of
this
integration is to get your container's persistent volumes from ovirt
storage, which
takes advantage of any storage setup you set for ovirt -
ISCSI/FS/NFS/FS/Gluster etc.
This blog bost[2] in ovirt site covers that as well.
