[ovirt-users] Re: Facing issues with settings up shared data-center

2019-02-18 Thread Jinesh Ks
Thanks for your time. The NFS issue was resolved however we are facing issues
with migrating VM from one node to another. Are there any additional settings
which we need when doing the migration? Also, we are unable to remove the VM
which were migrating to node3 and stuck process and now VM status is unknown

We have 3 nodes, node1,node2,node3
Node1 can migrate to node2,node3, but node2 and node3 cant migrate to node1
when settings static IP address
>>Failed to remove Host Node3 (User: admin@internal-authz).

Another problem is there is no IP address assigning tab in Ovirt engine, we
need to manually assign private/public IP. Your valuable suggestions would be
really appreciated.

[ovirt-users] Status of Snaphots and LVCache for VDO volumes in oVirt 4.3.x

2019-02-18 Thread Guillaume Pavese
Hi,

Currently choosing VDO at volume setup forces creation of a thick LV due to
a RHEL bug, cf :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1634551
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1600156

The latter was closed while pointing to the following workaround :
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3562021
It is also said there that full fix will be available in RHEL-8

Thin LV are necessary to enable volume snapshots and LVCache, and are
currently not possible on VDO volumes
Does the above comments in BZs mean that it will still not be possible to
configure Thin LV for VDO volumes with ovirt-4.3.x/Centos-7.X either?
We have been postponing rolling out oVirt-4.2 in production because of
these two major cons.

Please advise if you think RHEL-8 will be necessary in order to have VDO
volumes on par with normal volumes (snapshots and LVCache). In that case we
will deploy production asap without VDO.
Should we instead force the creation of VDO volmume on ThinLV by tweaking
the gdeploy configuration and applying the mentionned workaround?

Thanks

worked out just fine!

this issue.

Thanks in advance,

[ovirt-users] Unable to upload images

2019-02-18 Thread michael
I just updated my ovirt to the latest, and now I can't upload images that I
used to be able to. I can upload and see the nagio xi virtual appliance, but I
can't upload .disk files anymore, I get a red error in GUI and it say image
file not supported, but I used to be able to upload same file in previous
version with no issue

[ovirt-users] Re: Suggestions on adding 1000 or more networks to an engine/hosts

2019-02-18 Thread Brian Wilson
It looked to continue to add them if looking at something like output from "ip
link".

I was not however able to save the networks so the host always had "Unsaved
Network Changes".

I eventually needed to use the host and rebooted it and since they weren't
saved they were all gone on reboot.

So the takeaway i see here is that with Bridged Networks there is a softlimit
of ~350 in a Datacenter/Cluster due to the timeout of the VDSM. "vdsTimeout"

Is this something we could tune if we wanted have more than 350?

Im trying to think of what would happen if we increased that to anything else
though.

[ovirt-users] After import storage many of my vm's disks not appear

2019-02-18 Thread Kalil de A. Carvalho
Hello all.
It is been a while that I used the oVirt and on the same time, the company
where I started to work, has a big problem with the engine, we lose it. We
did not have any backup.
To try recovery the enverioment I installed a knew oVirt, this time Hosted
Engine, and import the Storage. I could import and start some vm's but the
most part not appear for me, dosen't show on "Disk Import", "VM Import" and
any place.
I know that is there, because show me that size.
May I see, like list, this disks? I can't do this throught oVirt web.
Is there any way to bring dist disks back?
I already search this tasks but with no luck.

oVirt ver: 4.2.8.2-1.el7

Any one can help, please?
Best regards.

Hi, you can copy 40-redhat.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ and edit it to
always set memory state as online_movable. It will override the default
file content after reboot (or udev rules reload).

Yes, I also get that message. AFAIK it is harmless (although still
confusing to users) and it probably means what it says: oVirt assigns to
NUMA nodes only CPUs present at the VM start. See also

[ovirt-users] Re: stucked snapshot, locked disk

2019-02-18 Thread Mike Lykov

14.02.2019 19:45, Jiří Sléžka пишет:

Hello,

we are using ovirt 4.2.8.2-1.el7.

One our user probably tried to preview taken snapshot but the task is
stucked and never finished. Also disk is locked.

I'm also have this problem.
I try to use openbaccus project for backup VMs, and all was good (manual
started backup, for example, did his job: take snapshot, copy VM, etc.)

But when I configure a task at night (Sheduled backup VM), It was some
sort of disaster :)

It try to snapshot/copy VM in infinite loop and create dozens images,
all of that tasks have "failed" result.
I was forced to delete it in ovirtengine by hand, but last created task
are stuck. I switch off baccus, because it send queries to snapshots via
API indefinitely, In engine log:

[ovirt-users] Design question: one big NFS share or several smaller ones?

2019-02-18 Thread Markus Schaufler
Hi all,

I've got a design question:
Are there any best practices regarding NFS datastores especially datastore
sizing? Should I use one big NFS datastore and expand it on demand or should
the size not exceed a certain limit and start with a new NFS datastore?
Are there any other configuration considerations (NFS v3 or v4(.1) and mounting
options)?

[ovirt-users] Re: Migration of VMs across two Ovirt setups

2019-02-18 Thread Luca 'remix_tj' Lorenzetto
Hello Dipak,

we shut down all the vms in a storage domain, detached and then
imported on the new environment. Once imported we moved the vms to a
newer storage and the old one removed.

I don't know what can happen with local storage, but i think works
like shared storage.

[ovirt-users] Fencing : SSL or not?

2019-02-18 Thread Nicolas Ecarnot

Hello,

As fence_idrac has never worked for us, and as fence_ipmilan has worked
nicely since years, we are using fence_ipmilan with the lanplus=1 option
and we're happy with it.

We upgraded to 4.3.0.4 and we're witnessing that we cannot fence our
hosts anymore :

2019-02-18 09:42:08,678+01 ERROR
[org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.pm.FenceProxyLocator] (default task-11)
[2f78ed99-6703-4d92-b7cb-948c2d24b623] Can not run fence action on host
'x', no suitable proxy host was found.

and on the SPM :

fence_ipmilan: Failed: Unable to obtain correct plug status or plug is
not available

I found the suggested workaround here :

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3349841

but no combination of
- lanplus={0,1}
- -z
- ssl=={0,1}

lead to no solution.

The package version is the same as what's described in the KB :
fence-agents-rhevm-4.2.1-11.el7_6.7.x86_64

What should I test now?

Thank you.
