[ovirt-users] Re: Windows Sluggish Performance

2019-12-08 Thread Gal Zaidman
Hi Vijay,

You need to install Spice driver + agent,
Driver qxl-wddm-dod:
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/qxl-wddm-dod/qxl-wddm-dod-0.19/
(Notice it is not the qxl)
and the agent:
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/vdagent/vdagent-win-0.9.0/

We have an installer for virtio-win drivers:
https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-virtio/virtio-win-0.1.173-2/
that should install both of them

Is it potentially an SELinux denial? I seem to recall an SELinux Boolean

[ovirt-users] Re: Issue deploying self hosted engine on new install

2019-12-08 Thread Robert Webb
Didi,

Apologies for the delayed reply.

I tracked the issue down after giving up on the self hosted install. I
installed it to a VM running CentOS 7 running on another platform and then
added my hosts.

After adding the hosts and dploying a VM on oVirt, everything deployed
perfectly, I could never get the VM to start. Digging further, I found that it
is apparently a NFS permission on my NAS. What is odd is that I can add the
Storage domain with no issues, I can create a VM, but the VM will never start
due to a permission issue on the disk image.

On my NAS if I just go into the shared folder permissions and not change
anything but just tell it to apply configured permissions to all files and
folders, the newly created VM runs just fine. For some reason when oVirt
creates new files in storage, it is leaving off the execute for the vdsm user.
I also notice that for the image and lease files, it also leaves off any
permisson for "other" . NOt sure why the permissions are not being applied
correctly. But that is an issue for me to figure out on my NAS, OpenMediaVault.

When you edit the memory, wait till tomorrow before powering off and powering

The file in 3.1 is just a backup :D

Maybe I wasn't clear: You first need to check whether your Hyper-V VM
in question is a Gen 2 UEFI-based VM or a legacy BIOS-based
Gen 1 VM. (It's quite likely Gen 2 since this has been the default
since Hyper-V on Server 2012 R2)
This defines the way on how the destination VM on the oVirt side needs
to be configured.

Once that is identified, try the according machine type on the oVirt
side there that converted disk is attached to:
- Hyper-V Gen 1 => oVirt 440FX + SeaBIOS (default in oVirt as of writing)
- Hyper-V Gen 2 => oVirt Q35 + OVMF

As written previously: There are still plenty of limitations in the
UEFI guest support and they sometimes
need workarounds until hopefully oVirt 4.4 closes most of these gaps.

Regards
Mathieu

[ovirt-users] Re: Increase memory of hosted engine

2019-12-08 Thread Strahil Nikolov
I know a way, but I'm not sure if you will be happy with that approach.1.
Setup virsh on all hosts:alias virsh='virsh -c
qemu:///system?authfile=/etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/virsh_auth.conf'
2. Set the HostedEngine in maintenancehosted-engine --set-maintenance
--mode=global3. Get the HostedEngine's current config3.1. When Engine is
running - go to the host and type:virsh dumpxml HostedEngine >
HostedEngine-2019-12-08.xml
3.2. If the engine is dead - take the xml from the vdsm.log (when it was last
started)4. Edit the configuration4.1. If the engine is running -> edit directly
with virsh edit HostedEngine4.2. If the engine is not running -> edit the xml
with the new values and define the ovirtmgmt network and the
VMvdsm-ovirtmgmt.xml :  vdsm-ovirtmgmt
8ded486e-e681-4754-af4b-5737c2b05405

virsh net-define vdsm-ovirtmgmt.xmlvirsh define HostedEngine.xml
4.3 You may try to power up the VM but it will complain about some links from
the gluster's storage to local one. Just create those symbolic links and power
up the VM againvirsh start HostedEngine
5. Keep the engine running for at least 6 hours (to update the OVMF),as even
when the OVMF update inteval is reduces -> the engine still ignores that.
6. Power off the engine gracefullyssh engine "poweroff"7. Power on the engine
viahosted-engine --vm-start8.Once the engine is up , ssh and verify memory
9. Remove maintenancehosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode=none
I haven't tested this approach of extending memory , but it should work.

[ovirt-users] Gluster FS & hosted engine fails to set up

2019-12-08 Thread rob . downer
I have set up 3 new servers and as you can see Gluster is working well, however
the hosted engine deployment fails

can anyone suggest a reason ?

I have wiped and set up all three servers again and set up Gluster first.
This is the gluster congig I have used for the setup.

Please review the configuration. Once you click the 'Finish Deployment' button,
the management VM will be transferred to the configured storage and the
configuration of your hosted engine cluster will be finalized. You will be able
to use your hosted engine once this step finishes.

However Gluster looks good...

I have reinstalled all nodes from scratch.

[ovirt-users] How to run oVirt on CentOS 8 (or 8.1 or Stream)

2019-12-08 Thread Nate Revo
I have a system that requires the 4x kernel to run and wanted to run oVirt
on top of CentOS. Seems as I'm looking around, rhel/centos 8 support for
ovirt is slated for v 4.4. What's the progress with running on Centos 8+
and how do I run ovirt on Centos 8, now.

Thanks in advance,
-Nate Revo

P.S. Will code for pizza
