Enable brick and server-side trace logs ( view
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_gluster_storage/3/html/administration_guide/configuring_the_log_level
) and check the brick logs.

I had an issue with ACL when moving from 6.5 to 6.6 and now from 7.0 to 7.2

There is an active thread in gluster-users , so it will be nice to mention this
there.

About the sync, you can find the paths via:
1. Mount
 mount -t glusterfs -o aux-gfid-mount vm1:test /mnt/testvol
2. Find the path of files:
getfattr -n trusted.glusterfs.pathinfo -e text /mnt/testvol/.gfid/

I bet it's the same file that causes me problems. Just verify the contents and
you will see that one of them is newer -> just rsync it to the bricks node01
& node03 and run 'gluster volume heal full.'

Hi at all, I have many problems after upgrade ovirt version. I come from
4.3.5.2.

When I upgraded to 4.3.7 my three host (hyperconverged emviroment) I passed a
few days of instability: HA agent down gluster problem...
When I rebooted for the umpteenth time (after reinitialized lockspace, heal,
heal full...) all cames up ha agent and broker included.
Two days after arrived 4.3.8, so i decided to start the update, america with
success, europa after a various problems (as described before) came up.
Asia host, after 30 second of updating the engine goes down together with all
three nodes ... Are there any known important bugs?

I have run into this exact issue before and resolved it by simply syncing
over the missing files and running a heal on the volume (can take a little
time to correct)

[ovirt-users] Gluster Heal Issue

2020-01-31 Thread Christian Reiss

Hey folks,

in our production setup with 3 nodes (HCI) we took one host down
(maintenance, stop gluster, poweroff via ssh/ovirt engine). Once it was
up the gluster hat 2k healing entries that went down in a matter on 10
minutes to 2.

Those two give me a headache:

[root@node03:~] # gluster vol heal ssd_storage info
Brick node01:/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage

Status: Connected
Number of entries: 2

Brick node02:/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage
Status: Connected
Number of entries: 0

Brick node03:/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage

Status: Connected
Number of entries: 2

No paths, only gfid. We took down node2, so it does not have the file:

[root@node01:~] # md5sum
/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage/.glusterfs/a1/21/a121e4fb-0984-4e41-94d7-8f0c4f87f4b6

/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage/.glusterfs/a1/21/a121e4fb-0984-4e41-94d7-8f0c4f87f4b6

[root@node02:~] # md5sum
/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage/.glusterfs/a1/21/a121e4fb-0984-4e41-94d7-8f0c4f87f4b6

/gluster_bricks/ssd_storage/ssd_storage/.glusterfs/a1/21/a121e4fb-0984-4e41-94d7-8f0c4f87f4b6

The other two files are md5-identical.

These flags are identical, too:

[root@node01:~] # getfattr -d -m . -e hex

Anyone got a clue on who to resolve this issue? File #2 is identical to

engine is up, I’ve connected to it via SSH and run engine-backup to restore my
old backup. After that the engine is up, but this new engine does not knows he
is hosted and the interface still shows the old one down.

So right now, all my VM’s are running on ovirt2 and in ovirt1 there’s the new
hosted engine. On the interface the old still appears:

[cid:ED7E1C25-5358-4313-9D57-3BA6A517A5AB]

The ovirt1 host can’t join since it complains about SSL Errors:

VDSM ovirt1 command Get Host Capabilities failed: General SSLEngine problem,
and the status is unassigned. I can’t do nothing on it:

[cid:AB09EFB4-73DA-49A1-ACBB-CB1ADFEED7E5]

So… I’m still considering recreating everything from the ground, the real issue
will be re adding the VMs. So the original question is still valid: What
happens if I just add the ovirt2 machine to the new engine? It will reboot or
will add everything back: storage, networks etc?

Thanks,
Vinícius.

[ovirt-users] Re: Reimport VMs after lost Engine with broken Backup

2020-01-31 Thread Vinícius Ferrão
Once again bumping my own thread. I came across this link:

https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/importstoragedomain.html

So it’s say that the VM metadata is stored in OVF_STORE. Which is awesome.

But in my case right now, the VM’s are running. So I need to properly shutdown
them (I can SSH to all of them and them issue power off).

But I can’t detach the storage from the broken engine.

* Is it safe to just attach the storage domain on the brand new engine? If it
fails there’s a way to recover from this?

Thanks.

[ovirt-users] Re: High level network advice request

2020-01-31 Thread Robert Webb
Happy to help.

Host shouldn't need to be in maintenance mode to add logical networks. I don't
do mine that way, but I am using a second nic for those and the first nic is
dedicated to ovirtmgmt.

Let me know if you need anything. I am an engineer, network, but also have done
storage, linux, and proxy, but I don't do windows. :-) Actually I do, but just
thought I would throw in a pun.

Thanks so much for your reply Robert!

I like your set-up alot, that's where I'm going too actually. But now I have
only one node, I'm trying to learn very basic setup with just the one for the
moment (Because I have it running after years of trying! It will take a few
weeks and another motherboard / rebuild before I have the second node, I'll get

I've just learned (I think) that I can't sync new logical networks with the

there might be a way with cli and restarts and all that but lo, there no point,
I will have another node in a few weeks or months :)

That's okay, I'm trying to work out why I can't access my new test server from
WAN. I use split dns with pfsense and haproxy reverse redirects. I can get to
the server test pages from LAN via the pfSense dns resolution (LAN) but the
reverse redirects are not working from WAN. I don't know what next step to
take to debug the problem. The engine is accessible from WAN, so I think it
should work for the vm server, which is also on the default ovirt management
network and uses all defaults like the hosted engine. I suspect that there is
a security setting on the engine, logical network or maybe the server?

What should I check next?

My singe node, is also in the same condition, which may be instructive to a
noob like me...the node I can reach from the LAN but not the WAN. So the
engine is a special case. Do I need to create certificates on the vm webserver?

I'd like to see if I can set-up a NextCloud server after trying a SuiteCRM
server. But I started with fedora 31 server and a very basic lamp stack to
limit variables...

Thanks in advance. Let me know if I can ever help you with anything! I'm an

Indeed. And finally coming in 4.4. The order is not entirely customisable, but
you can use priorities and group VMs so you can have some started before others

But still if you shut them down cleanly they won’t come up. It would make
shutting them down impossible if we always intervene and immediately start them
up.

no, it should come in rpm form, maybe you’re missing a repo or something.
In any case, keep in mind that 4.4 is still *not* really supporting upgrades,
even from an earlier 4.4 build.
Especially the recent updates around picking up CentOS 8;1 and AdvancedVirt are
kind of breaking changes…

[ovirt-users] Re: High level network advice request

2020-01-31 Thread Robert Webb
Given what you have described, it seems to be either a HAproxy or server config
issue. If the server can reach the internet, that solves default gateway
issues, if you can reach the server from the LAN then that solves any
networking issues.

I would probably do a packet capture at the pfSense box and on the server to
see where they stop. It can also tell you if there may be some kind of haproxy
issue where the translation may not be what you expect.

Thanks again Joseph,

I do have specific noob question. I'm learning so much with this test

I can't get to a test vm / webserver managed by Ovirt Engine from WAN, as I do
with the Engine and other machinesI suspect that I am missing some pretty
basic setup step with security but I don't know what to check next?

So I use pfSense with haproxy add on, which is pretty great. Squid might be
better, but haproxy was really easy for me to set-up without mastering config
syntax...

My pfSense is on a physical box at the gateway as a gateway serverso not a
vm.

I have a working vm on an ovirt node manged / created with engine. I set up
the vm with fedora 31 server then added a lamp stack with mariadb & etc.

I can access (from LAN only, not from WAN) the server test page and a text php
info page that I made. I don't know what to adjust to debug the problem. I
suspect security / firewall issues but not with the pfSense / haproxy reverse
redirect, I think that's all fine. I use pfSense DNS Resolution in the LAN as
split DNS. Other machines, including the hosted engine machine are accessible
from WAN using URLs / FQDNs.
My engine for testing is engine.metrodesignoffice.com
The test server is mdowebserver.metrodesignoffice.com

What should I look at next? I only installed one node so I can't sync new
logical networks or vnet profiles as I understand (the single node can't be

[ovirt-users] Assign permissions from within the VM portal?

2020-01-31 Thread nicolas

Hi,

We're testing version 4.3.8, we're planning to upgrade to this version
in production as currently we're still using 4.1.9.

In 4.1.9, users could grant permissions on their created VMs to other
users from within the VM portal, however I can't find this option on
version 4.3.8.

Permissions granted to users so they can create and handle their VMs are
VmCreator and DiskProfileUser on the DataCenter.

Is there a way to allow users grant permissions on their VMs to other
users in the VM portal?

Thanks

[ovirt-users] Re: oVirt MAC Pool question

2020-01-31 Thread Vrgotic, Marko
Dear Yedidyah,

We are actually seeing collisions, which is why I reached out in first place.
Strange is that is did not happen since few weeks ago, and since then I saw it
multiple times.
For now I am simply going to create new mac pool for each of the clusters and
switch to it, hoping it's not going to affect existing VMs.

Regarding planning, if I would have known, that same mac pool is created across
datacenters/clusters, I would have taken it into account.
Relying on common sense, I just did not expect this to be the case, but to my
fault I should have applied trust-but-verify approach.

I think I misled you, or for some reason didn't understand your
original post. The default pool is for "everything". I thought you
refer to different setups - separate engines - and the bug I mentioned
about changing the default was addressed at this scenario.

Inside a single engine, there is only one default.

You should not see collisions *inside* it. Do you? The engine should
know no to allocated the same mac to two different NICs.

Default. I can only create new one,

Correct.

second mac range under same name is grayed out, whether I login as SuperUser or
Admin to Aministration Portal.

Indeed. You can only change it, not add a new one with the same name.

make the change where currently required and we are wrong, its going to affect
almost half of those existing VMs. I did test the change on the staging, and it
did not seem to have any harmful effect but that one has like 5VMs atm.

Ccing Dominik from the network team.

I am pretty certain that people do change/add pools live, but guess
not often - I guess most people plan ahead and then don't touch.

[ovirt-users] FOSDEM 2020 - AMENDMENT In Memory of our Friend, Lars Kurth

2020-01-31 Thread Doron Fediuck
Hi all,
For those of you who are unaware of this, Lars Kurth from the Xen project
has passed away [1]. Lars was one of the people who truly practiced open
source and worked with the oVirt project on running FOSDEM's Virtualization
and IaaS room in the past years.

In Lars' memory there will be a special session [2] on Sunday morning,
which will be broadcasted live. You're all welcomed to join physically or
via the live stream.

Thanks,
Doron

[ovirt-users] problem with qemu / dynamic_ownership

2020-01-31 Thread Christoph Köhler

Hey,

is the problem back with qemu/dynamic_ownership?

We have one DC with two clusters: one: vdsm-4.30.38 / libvirt-4.5.0-23,
two: vdsm-4.30.40 / libvirt-4.5.0-23, LibgfApi enabled, Gluster-Server
6.5.1, Gluster-Client 6.7, opVersion 6

It went well for a log time but now, with getting vdsm like above, we
are getting old problems:

°setting disk files to root:root when VM went down
°cannot create snapshot etc.

Do we have to set dynamic_ownership=0 in qemu.conf? We were testing
anything but nothing other worked.

Is there any idea?

Christoph
