[ovirt-users] Re: Windows VirtIO drivers

2020-03-25 Thread Robert Webb
It does work that way.

I found that out as I was testing oVirt and had not created a separate ISO
Domain. I believe it was Strahil who pointed me in the right direction.

So if one does not have an ISO Domain, it is no longer required. Along with the
fact that ISO Domains are or in the process of being deprecated.

That may be true, but in the ISO domain, when you open virt viewer you can
change the cd very easily...maybe it works that way as well..

Don't think you have to use the ISO Domain any longer.

You can upload to a Data Domain and when you highlight the VM in the
management GUI, select the three dots in the top left for extra options and
there is a change cd option. That option will allow for attaching an ISO
from a Data Domain.

That is what I recall when I was using oVirt a month or so ago.

You have to copy the iso and vfd files to the ISO domain to make them
available to the vm's that need drivers.

Subject: [ovirt-users] Windows VirtIO drivers

Hi,

it seems the online documentation regarding the windows installation steps
is well out of date. Where is there any current documentation on where to
get the VirtIO drivers for a Windows installation?

From a bit of Googling, it seems that I need to 'yum install virtio-win' on
the engine VM and then copy the relevant .iso/.vfd to the ISO domain. Is
that correct?

Where is the documentation maintained and how do I open a bug on it?

Thanks, Shareef.

[ovirt-users] Debian guest Agent

2020-03-25 Thread eevans
I am revisiting this as I have had no luck getting it resolved.
I have 2 Debian servers, one is an email appliance and one is a virtual pbx.
The guest agent works in the email appliance after following an article to get
the agent to work properly, but the agent in the pbx has never worked. I have
an exclamation point saying the guest agent needs to be installed. It is
installed and running.

I'm not sure why the agent is not checking in but any help would be appreciated.

That's it! Nothing to do with an ovirt feature, the idrac interface is

Thanks for replying,

I know this setting, but I do want to use the dedicated nic.

The curious thing is that the MAC adress of the dedicated NIC into
IDRAC setting differs from the MAC reported into ovirt:

So it lest me suppose that there is a kind of virtual card derived

It does work that way.

I found that out as I was testing oVirt and had not created a separate ISO
Domain. I believe it was Strahil who pointed me in the right direction.

So if one does not have an ISO Domain, it is no longer required. Along with
the fact that ISO Domains are or in the process of being deprecated.

This is the second time I see this error - this error should be
impossible, reading should never
fail with ENOENT.

This error ENODATA is also strange, preadv() is not documented to

You need to go to the Hosts tab and run a 'Refresh Capabilities' from the

I use it when I plug USB devices for pass-through.

Thanks for replying,

I know this setting, but I do want to use the dedicated nic.

The curious thing is that the MAC adress of the dedicated NIC into IDRAC
setting differs from the MAC reported into ovirt:

So it lest me suppose that there is a kind of virtual card derived from the

[ovirt-users] Re: how to use idrac interface as a vm network

2020-03-25 Thread Maton, Brett
There's an extra tab 'OS Pass through'...

https://www.dell.com/community/Systems-Management-General/R630-Idrac-ethernet-visible-in-linux/td-p/4664283

I just disabled the pass through on one of my servers.
On the command line 'idrac' disappeared immediately from the output of 'ip
a', but remained in ovirt.
Putting the server in to maintenance mode and rebooting did remove the
iDRAC interface from the oVirt UI once the host was reactivated.

Hope this helps

Hi Sandro,
I have noticed that the ovirt node page has not been updated yet:
https://www.ovirt.org/download/node.html
It still contains link for 4.3.8

[ovirt-users] Re: how to use idrac interface as a vm network

2020-03-25 Thread Nathanaël Blanchet

Thanks for replying,

I know this setting, but I do want to use the dedicated nic.

The curious thing is that the MAC adress of the dedicated NIC into IDRAC
setting differs from the MAC reported into ovirt:

So it lest me suppose that there is a kind of virtual card derived from
the physical one, can anybody confirm this?

I tested to use it as a vm network on the same vlan, but it
doesn't work.

What am I supposed to do with this available interface?

PS: on HP hosts, no Ilo interface appears in host network tab

There's one mention of "Cinder" on
https://www.ovirt.org/release/4.4.0/.
Will oVirt 4.4 support recent versions of OpenStack for "OpenStack
Block
Storage" (standalone Cinder)? Currently we are stuck with OpenStack
Pike.

I know about cinderlib, but this is a completely different approach
when
used with Ceph (krbd vs. librdb), I don't know if it's production ready
and I don't see a migration path. I know that "OpenStack Block Storage"
in oVirt 4.3 isn't officially "production ready" either, but it work's
for us and I would be very happy if I could continue using it.

thanks
Matthias

[ovirt-users] HCI cluster single node error making template

2020-03-25 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm on 4.3.9
I have created a VM with 4vcpu, 16gb mem and a nic and a thin provisioned
disk of 120Gb
Installed nothing on it, only defined.
Now I'm trying to make template from it but I get error.
I leave the prefille value of raw for format
Target storage domain has 900 Gb free, almost empty

In events pane:

Creation of Template ocp_node from VM ocp_node_template was initiated by
admin@internal-authz.
3/25/20 12:42:35 PM

Then I get error in events pane is:

VDSM ovirt.example.local command HSMGetAllTasksStatusesVDS failed: low
level Image copy failed: ("Command ['/usr/bin/qemu-img', 'convert', '-p',
'-t', 'none', '-T', 'none', '-f', 'raw',

Is there a problem templating a thin provisioned disk in gluster?

[ovirt-users] Re: how to use idrac interface as a vm network

2020-03-25 Thread eevans
What version of idrac? You can configure power management fence agent through
the idrac interface. I have my idrac network on the default vlan and with the
user name and password you set using the settings in the screenshot attached.

I hope this helps.

Subject: [ovirt-users] how to use idrac interface as a vm network

Hello,

I noticed an idrac interface was available in the host network since an
undefined ovirt version.

Mine are already plugged as dedicated vlan to administrate host at the lowest
level.

I tested to use it as a vm network on the same vlan, but it doesn't work.

What am I supposed to do with this available interface?

PS: on HP hosts, no Ilo interface appears in host network tab

[ovirt-users] Migrate Hosted Engine to new Storage

2020-03-25 Thread Anton Louw
Hi Everybody,

Does anybody know when we will most likely be able to do a live storage
migration of the Hosted Engine? I've been battling with the backup and restore
way for a couple of days now already, and it is starting to feel like a
fruitless exercise.

Thanks
