Hi,
did you try to "Sync All Networks" from the engine UI?

Usually confirming that the host was rebooted should be enough.
I guess you havw to take a look in engine's logs.

[ovirt-users] cannot export - "r.original_template is undefined"

2021-04-05 Thread Diggy Mc
I cannot export a VM to a data domain. I receive the error:

Export VM Failed
r.original_template is undefined

The VM originated as an OVA provided by a third party. After importing the OVA
and customizing the VM, I wanted to export it for backup purposes, but cannot.

I am running oVirt 4.4.4. You can download the OVA directly from ERPNext.org
if that helps troubleshooting. Download the "Production Image" from here:
https://erpnext.org/get-started

Any help is appreciated and let me know if additional information is needed.

With a standalone engine, it's your responsibility to take care of the
engine's machine.

If it breaks, it's up to you to recover.

If you are an experienced sysadmin, you might find this comfortable.
Perhaps you know well how to identify what got broken, fix/replace it,
restore your backups, etc.

With a hosted-engine, instead of a physical machine, you have a
virtual machine. This VM is controlled by a set of daemons, including
their data/configuration scattered around several places.
Collectively, they are called 'ovirt-hosted-engine-ha' (together with
other stuff, obviously - qemu/libvirt/vdsm, systemd, ...), or HA for
short.

If you know HA as well as your physical hardware, then I do not think
there is an essential difference. If you know well where to look if
there are problems, how to replace/fix stuff, restore backups, etc.,
then it's in theory the same.

But: It's up to you to get to know HA. And this is knowledge that is
to a large extent oVirt-specific and unrelated to your previous
knowledge and experience.

HA obviously has other advantages - it provides cheap HA (that's why
it's named like that) using your existing hardware, it's easy to set
up - at least compared to setting up an HA oVirt engine using external
HA means (e.g. linux-ha/corosync/pacemaker/heartbeat/VCS etc.), and it
often works well. But to feel comfortable with it, you do have to
learn it.

If HA's extra features etc. are not relevant for you, and having a
single BM machine for the engine is ok for your use case, and you know
Linux well but do not know well HA, and have extra hardware/rack space
to allocate for the engine machine, then a standalone engine is
probably better for you. Same if you do this mainly for
debugging/learning/etc. - a standalone engine is simpler, easier to
understand and debug.

Just my 2c.

Best regards,

[ovirt-users] Re: Problems after upgrade from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4

2021-04-05 Thread tfe...@swissonline.ch
I managed to get host2 online and take the SPM role.
I can run virtual machines now.
After all, it was a corrupt CentOS 7 installation (many library files with 0 KB
size).

But host1 is still in status “Unassigned”.
I tried to use the option “Confirm host has been rebooted” but it did not help.
All options are greyed out except “SSH Management:" “Restart” and “Stop”.
I cannot set the host to maintenance mode, nor can I delete it.
I would like to reinitialize or reinstall host1 - how can I do that?

In the Events of oVirt, I can see the following message roughly every minute:
VDSM host1 command Get Host Capabilities failed: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find
valid certification path to requested target

Any ideas how I could proceed?

Best regards
Toni

Sorry, this is looks like a bug, caused by [1]. Would you like to
report it on bugzilla?

I think a workaround is to run engine-setup like this:

# engine-setup --otopi-environment=OVESETUP_SYSTEM/selinuxBooleans=multi-str:\

The shell will prompt with '> '. Just press Enter.

Martin - seems like I was wrong when commenting on [1] that it seems harmless...

Marcin: we should probably add separate-dwh to ovirt-system-tests or
something like that.
