Elrepo also has packages for the drivers that RedHat decided to remove.

Of course, you could just purchase some supported Network Interface Cards.

RedHat has dropped support for this, so I don’t know if there’s anyway to fix
it for the node images short of respinning your own that includes the driver. I
use almalinux 8 hosts with elrepo kernel-lt installed, which includes those
drivers, myself.

[ovirt-users] Ovirt-node don't communicate with qemu-agent

2022-12-19 Thread Fernando Hallberg
Hi all,

I reinstalled one of the ovirt-nodes, with ovirt-4.5.4, and after the
reinstallation the agents of the vms connected to this node cannot
communicate with the ovirt-engine.

ovirt-engine 4.5.4

any idea?

VMs work perfectly, but the agent doesn't communicate.

Best regards,

Something seems to have gone wrong with the building.
The rpm is uploaded to the repository, but not added in the repodata.

Can this be fixed?

Thanks

[ovirt-users] update path from 4.4.4 to 4.5.4

2022-12-19 Thread marek

hi,

i have standalone ovirt-engine 4.4.4 (centos8 stream)

few hosts (mix of old centos 8.2, centos 8 stream, rocky linux)

can you confirm if this upgrade path is ok?

first round
- update engine to 4.4.10
- update OS on engine to last centos 8 stream (can i upgrade to some
point in time recommended for 4.4.10?)

- update hosts to ovirt 4.4.10
- update OS on hosts to last centos 8 stream and rocky linux 8.6

special case in first round - centos 8.2
- migrate OS on hosts from centos 8.2 to rocky linux 8.6
- update hosts to ovirt 4.4.10

second round
- update engine to 4.5.4
- update hosts to ovirt 4.5.4
- update OS on hosts - centos 8 stream - is ALREADY on last update from
first round

- update OS on hosts - rocky linux - from 8.6 to 8.7

Now I looked into the VDSM code, and noticed that some years ago there
was a commit

https://github.com/oVirt/vdsm/commit/93e955af9e4989711403e81835bb469b2e9cf65f

Where the estimate of 1.1x the disk size was used as max size.

But is this 1.1x still valid? As for example since some years there are
dirty bitmaps etc which all take space in the qcow2 image.
As far as I see there is no way to really calculate the exact max size
(as it might depend on external factors), but it might be useful to
extend the 1.1x to 1.2x for example?

Or maybe the limit is not needed anymore at all?

Thanks
Jean-Louis
