Hello list, I was wondering if any one could tell me if a Dell MD1400 Direct Attached Storage unit is suitable for shared storage between ovirt hosts? I really don't want to buy something that isn't going to work :) Regards, Brett ___ Users

[ovirt-users] Ovirt Engine - Wait For Launch

I did a yum update on one of my Ovirt Hosts a few days ago. All of the VM's on that host have been shown in the web UI with a status of 'Wait For Launch'. The VM's all appear to still be up and running but I can't manage/migrate them. Is there anything I can do to clear this issue ? Regards,

I have a similar problem creating VM's with the API, but no solution. It seems that by default oVirt uses custom 'Instance Type' ( you can see it if you use the UI to create a VM ). The default RAM limit for custom Instance Type is 4096MB. I haven't found where you can change the settnigs

Last time I looked at creating VM's from foreman there was a problem with the compute resource being passed from foreman plugin to the ovirt api. Can't remember exactly what was being sent, but it didn't match any available ovirt 'instance type' which is why it was failing to create the machine.

I think this is 'just' a UI issue, the bacchus oVirt backup gui tool which basically snapshots and exports a VM image using the API works just fine on oVirt Version 4.1.6.2-1.el7.centos I've not been able to test this against version 4.1.7 yet though.

It's not the most elegant or guaranteed to fix your issue, but I've found that running engine-setup again on the hosted-engine server usually cleans up broken and orphaned tasks. Any running VM's will stay up, you'll just briefly loose access to the UI while engine-setup restarts the interface.
