So that means you have configured your other storage domains under another DC,
but you haven't configured them on the relevant DC, cause 'There are no
compatible Storage Domains to attach to this Data Center'
Or they are Detached from DC.

I keep getting this:

Host base does not comply with the cluster Default networks, the

But based on the installation log, nothing goes wrong doing
installation/setup of the host.
And I get the same result as the screen shot I send before.

It looks like your host is not installed properly, you should have seen the

I recommend to remove host from ovirt and install it again from start. If
your 'em1' NIC configured with dhcp, 'ovirtmgmt' should get ip from the NIC
after installation. If after installation your 'ovirtmgmt' will be missing
on host, try to drag it manually like i said.
Before that try to restart network service: 'service network restart' and
'service vdsmd restart' and 'service NetworkManager stop' and then install
 the host in your ovirt.

 Hope this help..

You can go to your Ovirt go to Hosts tab Networks Interfaces subtab

If you changed the lines in the ifcfg files like i said, just attach the
'ovirtmgmt' to 'em1' NIC via SetupNetworks. This should work for you. when
pressing 'ok' in the SetupNetworks window, it should take the interface
configuration and create the bridge ifcfg with the same configuration.

 Try that..

 Hi Lars

First of all you have to decide from where your ovirtmgmt getting the ip,
if it is from a dhcp server, you have to delete this lines from your
 ifcfg-ovirtmgmt file:
 IPADDR=192.168.1.10
 NETMASK=255.255.255.0
 GATEWAY=192.168.0.1

 and add the next line:
 NM_CONTROLLED=no

 - in the ifcfg-em1 file change:
 BOOTPROTO=none

 and add the line:
 NM_CONTROLLED=no

restart your engine /etc/init.d/ovirt-engine restart and make sure your
ovirtmgmt got ip and you have a default gateway, you can run: route -n

Put your host in maintenance mode , try to activate or re-install.

 BOOTPROTO=dhcp
 IPADDR=192.168.1.10

And made the adjustments, so the ifcfg-en1, file looks like this:

 IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes

 ONBOOT=yes
 HWADDR=F8:B1:56:C1:F9:8E
 PEERDNS=yes
 PEERROUTES=yes
 BRIDGE=ovirtmgmt

I do realize that, the guides on the web for oVirt set BOOTPROTO to
static. But at the office, we do not have the possibility of static IP,
 at the moment.

Can some one please tell me what could be wrong ?
dhcp should work too. The problem is with NetworkManager.
You'll need to have static IPs though for the engine to be able to
contact the hosts (as well as the hosts themselves, for hosted-engine HA
at least), or you'll have problems if they for some reason get a different
IP address from your dhcp server.

 Please post relevant logs:

 engine - /var/log/ovirt-engine/*

 Thanks and best regards,

 did you install and setup?

libvirt logs

run the next command on hosts:

'virsh -r dumpxml $dom(name of the VM) | grep outbound'
and check that you have the right values there for the outbound, the values in

I confused about bond mode.
I read from RHEV document:
Modes 1, 2, 3 and 4 support both virtual machine (bridged) and non-virtual
machine (bridgeless) network types. Modes 0, 5 and 6 support non-virtual
machine (bridgeless) networks only.
And in oVirt i can not choice bond mode 0 ,but can choice bond mode 5.
But in my host , i use bond mode 0 two years, It is work fine.
Can someone explain this,thk!

   Hello,

I have been working on a new cluster on 3.5 with CentOS 7 hosts. My
 current
production stuff is still on 3.4 So I had to play around a bit to
 figure out
the VDSM networking stuff. I got it all sorted but at one point I had
 a host
that was not configured correctly and a task, Configuring networks on
 host
vm2, has been sitting in the task tab since then. I was sucsessfull in
getting the host configured with all the required bonding, VLANs, and
networks I need and the host is functioning fine.

My problem is that this task will not go away from the manager web
 interface.
I do not think it is actually doing anything but it would be nice to
 get it
out of there. I tried making other network changes and re-saving the
configuration and also rebooting the host and nothing takes it away.
 Has
   anyone else seen this?

please run the following from your SPM host

  vdsClient -s 1 getAllTasksStatuses

In case that there is a stuck task, it can be stopped using stopTask (see
  vdsClient --help)

In case that all is OK on the VDSM side, then it seems like a bug in the
engine side and we will need a BZ for that with engine vdsm(SPM) logs

We can easily remove that using SQL but lets first see if we can
 indentify
  the problem origin

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt 3.5.3 and Network Unified Persistence issues?

2015-08-25 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Simon,

This issue will be fixed on 3.5.4
see - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1203422

On 3.5.3, vdsm generating all ifcfg-* files to ONBOOT=NO by default, except the
management network and the interface it is attached to. In your case bond
(bond0,bond.108 and the slaves).
- You can configure your ifcfg-* files manually to ONBOOT=yes and restart
network service as a workaround for now.

Subject: [ovirt-users] oVirt 3.5.3 and Network Unified Persistence issues?

I’m running into a problem with my upgrades to oVirt 3.5.3 and wanted to check
if the following is a known issue.

I have multiple vlan tagged interfaces configured. The files are being
generated as expected by vdsm. The vlan 108 interface below is used by the
ovirtmgmt bridge. The uatdev_ben, bond0.192, dev_office, bond0.124 interface
definitions all have ONBOOT=no.

root@host grep -i onboot ifcfg* | grep -v bak

ifcfg-bond0:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-bond0.108:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-bond0.124:ONBOOT=no

ifcfg-bond0.192:ONBOOT=no

ifcfg-dev_office:ONBOOT=no

ifcfg-eth0:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-eth1:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-eth2:ONBOOT=no

ifcfg-eth3:ONBOOT=no

ifcfg-lo:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-ovirtmgmt:ONBOOT=yes

ifcfg-uatdev_ben:ONBOOT=no

The persistence configuration files are where they should be (I think):

root@host ls -l /var/lib/vdsm/persistence/netconf/nets/

total 12

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 121 Aug 24 22:44 dev_office

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 173 Aug 24 22:44 ovirtmgmt

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 121 Aug 24 22:44 uatdev_ben

If I were to do a “service network restart” on the node, the uatdev_ben,
dev_office, bond0.124 bond0.192 are removed and then not restored as the
“ONBOOT=no”. I assumed that vdsmd would re-create the dev_office and uatdev_ben
interfaces so restarted vdsmd but they were not restored. I tried a “vdsm-tool
restore-nets” to see if that would restore the interfaces but no joy.

Am I missing something? Is there another method I should use to recover the
missing interfaces? Should the ifcfg files all be configured with “ONBOOT=yes”
just in case someone does run a “service network restart”?

My oVirt nodes are CentOS 6.5, I’m not using the node iso.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,

Simon Barrett

Subject: Re: [ovirt-users] VM Network activity on ovirt UI

I'm generating network activity on a VM using iperf. The VM acts as an iperf
client. On the client, iperf reports that data has been successfully sent to
iperf server. The iperf server also shows that it's successfully receiving data
from the iperf client. But,network is at 0% on the ovirt UI.The client and
server are on different private networks.

On the same VM,when I generate network activity by fetching a file from a
public network using wget, the network column correctly shows activity on the
ovirt UI for the VM.

Could someone help me understand why I am unable to see network activity on the
ovirt UI when iperf is used?

Appreciate your help.TIA.

I'm not sure i understood what exactly happened on your setup, but i think it
is because you have only 1 vNIC and you trying to use it as the management
network and the vmfex hook.
you should have 1 vNIC for the management network -->
eth0=ovirtmgmt
and 1 vNIC for the network with a vmfex profile -->
eth1='vmfex network'(network with vmfex=PortProfile)

Attaching screenshots as an example of how it should look like.

So.. I manually edited the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and setup the device
& bridge as expected.. but vdsm didn’t like it.. it was still trying to delete
the ovirtmgmt device.

What I ended up doing in the end is defining the network in virsh (creating
myself an account via saslpasswd2 -a libvirt USERNAME) then creating the
ovirtmgmt bridge
# cat vdsm-ovirtmgmt.xml

  vdsm-ovirtmgmt

#virsh net-define vdsm-ovirtmgmt.xml
#virsh net-start vdsm-ovirtmgmt

Something still wasn’t right here.. so I ended up rebooting the host… and then
it was working.. I’m still not entirely sure what I did to fix it.. but it’s
working now…

I’ll continue on the journey and keep this thread updated incase anyone else
runs into the same issues!

Cheers
David

Hi Michael,

Thanks for this information - it's great, the guide should be updated on the
ovirt webpage to reflect the information you've provided below.

Just to hopefully help someone else out in the future - we had only 1 vNIC
defined in the UCS Service Profile, this caused problems when we enabled
dynamic vnic's on that host.

The resolution was leave the initial interface as it is.. and as a management

Re: [ovirt-users] Configuring the SRIOV virsh device

2016-03-09 Thread Michael Burman
Hi again David)

In order to achieve such xml ^^ (the one you describing) you should first
of all prepare a proper 'Port Profile' on your UCS manager side.
- In your/from your example you should have 2 Port Profiles([1], [2])
configured in your cisco side(see -
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/vm_fex/kvm/gui/config_guide/2-1/b_GUI_KVM_VM-FEX_UCSM_Configuration_Guide_2_1/b_GUI_KVM_VM-FEX_UCSM_Configuration_Guide_2_1_chapter_010.html)

[1] profile-ame1-test1
[2] profile-ame1-prep1

- This port profiles should associate with your service profiles(blades)

- If you have those port profiles on your ucs side and they well
configured, then you should follow the steps i suggested in the previous
e-mail -->

1) Run for example:
engine-config -s
CustomDeviceProperties="{type=interface;prop={ifacemacspoof=^(true|false)$;queues=[1-9][0-9]*;vmfex=^[a-zA-Z0-9_.-]{2,32}$;SecurityGroups=^(?:(?:[0-9a-fA-F]{8}-(?:[0-9a-fA-F]{4}-){3}[0-9a-fA-F]{12},
*)*[0-9a-fA-F]{8}-(?:[0-9a-fA-F]{4}-){3}[0-9a-fA-F]{12}|)$}}" --cver=3.5

- Restart your ovirt-engine service
- with --cver=3.5 you can specify your cluster version level. ^^
- If you don't want that it will overwrite your current attributes, you
have to send them all as well(like on my example above). ^^

2) Install vdsm-hook-vmfex-dev on your server(if you don't using vdsm
version 3.6, the vmfex hook isn't installed by default)

3) In ovirt engine you can verify that host have the hooks installed under
'Hosts' main tab - > 'Host Hooks' sub tab
You should see there: a) before_device_migrate_destination b)
before_device_create c) before_nic_hotplug

4) Create new network and edit the vNIC profile.
Choose from the CustomDeviceProperties the 'vmfex' key(like in your
example) and in the right field enter your Port Profile id/name(the one
that is configured on your UCS side)

- 'Networks' main tab(create network) >> 'vNIC Profiles' sub tab(edit the
profile and add the 'vmfex' key), so it would look like:
vmfex = profile-ame1-test1
and/or
vmfex = profile-ame1-prep1

5) Go to 'Setup Networks' sub tab under 'Hosts' main tab --> attach the
network with the vmfex profile to NIC on host(drag it), it should be the
additional NIC, not the one that the management network attached to.

6) Create VM or use exist one, create/add new vNIC to the VM with the vmfex
profile

7) Run VM

If your port profile configured properly you should see the proper xml,
like you described above ^^ -->

Good luck and kind regards,
Michael B

Re: [ovirt-users] Cannot configure/save Network Interfaces in a freshly installed oVirt Node 4.0.1

2016-07-21 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Ariel,

It seems like you assigned a role to this network , from the name of your
network 'migration', i guess you assigned this network with migration role.)
In such case, this role requires a boot protocol(static ip or dhcp).
You can't setup networks if your network has one of this roles
(migration/display/gluster).

So, if you want this network to be your migration network, you must assign
a boot protocol.
If you don't want this network to be a migration network, you can choose
the default network for this 'ovirtmgmt' via the 'Clusters' main tab >
'Logical Networks' sub tab.

Thanks,

Go to 'Hosts' main tab' and choose the host, go to 'Network Interfaces' sub
tab and press the 'Sync All Networks' , now the networks should be synced
to host as ovs switch type.
Run the vm and check the xml.
It should look something like this:

2017-02-05 Thread Michael Burman
Hi

Karil, it is seems like you didn't configured the vlan device eno1.1
properly before you run hosted-engine --deploy.
How did you configured it?
If the vlan device was properly configured then you should have seen
something like :
Please indicate a nic to set ovirtmgmt bridge on: (eno1, eno1.1) [eno1]:

Re: [ovirt-users] Change Vlan ID's which are connected to the Host/VM's

2017-02-19 Thread Michael Burman
Hi again

This can't be changed.
When the network attached to host, it is used by vdsm and has a
vdsm-'network-name' which in use.
When it used by a VM, virsh using this name, so you can't change it, unless
removing and detaching the network from VM and host.

Best regards,

Re: [ovirt-users] Change Vlan ID's which are connected to the Host/VM's

2017-02-14 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Matt

Yes, there is a way, it can be done as part of our MultiHost Network
feature(since 3.4).
If you have the same logical network attached to multiple hosts in your DC,
you can update their vlan IDs via the 'Networks' main tab and this will
send a setup networks command through all of your hosts in the DC and
update the logical network with the new vlan ID.
- Note that this can be done when the VMs are running on the host/s as
well.

Good luck)

Re: [ovirt-users] Change Vlan ID's which are connected to the Host/VM's

2017-02-16 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Matt

Are you trying to change the network's name? if this is the case, then it
doesn't allowed while network is attached to host/s.

Yes, it is a bug in the error message when trying to rename network while
it is attached to multiple hosts. I will report a bug for this issue.

Thanks!

Re: [ovirt-users] feedback and questions about SR-IOV feature

2016-12-06 Thread Michael Burman
I didn't said it is the right design, i guess that i can get nothing from
such bond and you are right, but,
This is was long discussed a year ago(maybe more) with network DEV when we
planed this feature and it was decided to allow to create bond from VFs.

Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] feedback and questions about SR-IOV feature

2016-12-06 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Nathanael

VFs are regular NICs and can be used as regular NICs.
We are allowing to create bond from them and allowing to attach logical
networks to them, because as long as they are not used by any VM, they can
be used just as any other interfaces on the host.

When creating bond from 2 VFs you should see the pencil icon, because you
want to able to edit the bond.
Vf is an interface and you can use it just as you use regular interface on
the host.

* When you create bond from 2 VFs, this VFs are no longer free and you
can't use them to run VM
* The same for attaching a network to VF, this VF is no longer considered
as free VF.

There is no problem about it, this is exactly how it was designed ) , you
have to remember that as long as the VFs are not used by VM, they can be
used as regular NICs and you can do with them everything you want.

Re: [ovirt-users] Not Enough Mac address pool

2017-01-11 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Budur

On 3.5 you should increase or create the MAC pool range via the
engine-config:

Example:
engine-config -s MacPoolRanges=00:00:00:00:00:00-FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
restart engine service

Good luck

My bad, had a typo, try:
engine-config -s MacPoolRanges=00:1A:4A:22:39:00-00:1A:4A:22:39:FF

Re: [ovirt-users] VM Import from Admin GUI: "VM has MAC address(es) , which is/are out ouf its MAC pool definitions"

2017-01-05 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Daniel,

Good catch, i have reported a bug for the misspelling -
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1410346

It shouldn't lead to a problem. It depend on you if you want to run your VM
with MAC addresses that out of your current MAC pool range.

In 4.1 we added new feature which allow you to re-assign new MAC addresses
from the destination cluster. You will have an tooltip warning you that the
VM you about to import has MAC addresses which are out of its MAC range and
you will have an option to re-assign the MAC addresses or not.
http://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/network/import-vm-net-changes/

Best regards

Re: [ovirt-users] Migration network used also as vm network

2017-07-25 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Gianluca,

This should work as expected.
The only drawbacks that could be are loads on the link in case of heavy
traffic.
If for example the VMs using most of the link's traffic it may affect the
migration and vise-versa.

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirtmgmt network out of sync

2017-05-17 Thread Michael Burman
Ok,

What is the exact property reported in the tooltip which is out of sync? it
should be there.
It is possible to add this property to the ifcfg-ovirtmgmt file and then
'refresh caps' it may work.
As you created the ifcfg manually after the upgrade, maybe you missed a
property, which engine expect to see.

- About the upgrade, it is very bad that the ifcfg-ovirtmgmt file has gone.
What are the versions involved here?
Maybe i can try and reproduce it, to insure we don't have bug here.

Can you provide us vdsm logs from the upgrade time?

Dan, Yevgeny, do you have any idea maybe?

Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirtmgmt network out of sync

2017-05-18 Thread Michael Burman
Yes, thanks)

Engine complains about the bootproto , he is expecting dhcp, but you
configured it manually with static.
Was it dhcp before the upgrade?

There is an option to change it back to dhcp, restart network service and
this should be fixed. But i don't think that this is what you looking for
as you may loose connectivity for few seconds.
I don't think there is another option to sync the network while a running
VM using it, at least not that i'm aware of.

Maybe Dan or Yevgeny will have some insight.

Just to be clear, you upgraded both engine and vdsm?
I'm a bit confused from your ifcfg files, you said you created the
ifcfg-ovirtmgmt manually after the upgrade, but it was generated by an
older vdsm version 4.17.23.2-0.el7.centos, and the physical interface
generated with a newer vdsm version 4.19.10.1-1.el7.centos.

I don't think we need the whole /vdsm , only the relevant vdsm log from the
upgrade time, can you locate it?
and the supervdsm.log as well.

Thanks,

2017-05-17 Thread Michael Burman
Alex,

Please tell what is the tooltip saying. What is the reason for networks
being out-of-sync?

It is possible that the out-of-sync is the reason for the network issue.
It's a real problem that your ifcfg-ovirtmgmt file was missing after
upgrade, could it be that it wasn't persisted and saved on the host before
running the upgrade?

- Can you please try to press the 'refresh caps' button?
- Does the 'save Network Configuration' button grayed out or it's possible
to press it?
- Another option is to migrate the hosted-engine VM to another host in the
cluster and then sync the network on the host.(as you can't sync a network
being used by a running VM).

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirtmgmt network out of sync

2017-05-16 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Alex,

- Have you tried to sync it using the 'Sync All Networks' button in the
UI?
It's located under 'Hosts' main tab > select the host > 'Network
Interfaces' sub tab > 'Sync All Networks' button.

- Can you please go to the 'Setup Host Networks' dialog(located under the
same path^^) and hoover on top of ovirtmgmt network? a tooltip should
pop-up and it should let you know what is the reason that the network is
being out-of-sync. Engine probably complaining about a difference between
the configuration on the host and the DC.
- How did you end up with this situation? what happened before the network
become out-of-sync? did it happened after the hosted-engine deploy was
done?

Best regards,

Re: [ovirt-users] Regarding Host QoS

2017-06-22 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Rohit

You can increase the default values with engine-config command:

engine-config -s MaxAverageNetworkQoSValue=5000

systemctl restart ovirt-engine

Now you should be able to set higher QoS value for 'Rate Limit' and
'Committed Rate'

Re: [ovirt-users] Regarding Host QoS

2017-06-22 Thread Michael Burman
Kevin

You confusing 2 different things. MTU is not related to the question.
The user want to apply 5000mbps for 'Rate Limit' and 'Committed Rate' , the
default is 1024 and it's possible to increase it.

Not related to MTU

Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] Changing MAC Pool

2017-06-18 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Mahdi

What version are you running? it is possible to extend the MAC pool range.

Before 4.1 you can extend the MAC pool range globally with engine-config
command, for example:

- engine-config -s
MacPoolRanges=00:00:00:00:00:00-00:00:00:10:00:00,00:00:00:02:00:00-00:03:00:00:00:0A

- restart ovirt-engine service

>From version 4.1, the MAC pool range moved to be in the cluster level and
it's now possible to edit/create/extend the MAC pool range per each cluster
separately via the UI:

- 'Clusters' > edit cluster > 'MAC Address pool' range sub tab >
add/extend/edit/remove
- Or via 'Configure' it is possible to create MAC pool entities and then
assign them to desired clusters.

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] Renaming or deleting ovirtmgmt

2017-09-28 Thread Michael Burman
When you delete the host, all files remain as they were before. Nothing
changes.
I have tested this flow today and this is the result:

1) For example i have host installed with ovirtmgmt as my management and i
want to change the management network of the cluster or to add to a new
cluster with different management network.

2) Follow the steps create another network as the management network(as
explained in the mail or feature page). Make sure to check the 'default
route' property as well! and make ovirtmgmt as non-required network as well.

3) Remove the host - no need to remove any files or packages

4) Add the host to the new cluster with the new management network.

5) What will happen is that engine will fail to configure the new
management network on the host(and become non-operational), but it is
easily can be work around by going to the setup networks dialog and switch
between the networks, by detaching ovirtmgmt and attaching the new
management network. After pressing OK the new management network will be
saved on the host and the new network configuration will be applied on the
host.

6) After this step host still remain as non-operational, all we need to do
now is to 'Activate' the host and host become operational once again with
the new network changes will take place. All files will be update
successfully on the host.

- So it looks like we not handling such scenario smoothly and maybe this
should be fixed.
If we had a host running with 1 management network and we want to add this
host to a different cluster with a different management network engine and
vdsm should be able to take care of it during the installation of the host
and to successfully make all the required changes.

Dan , Alona what do you think? should we handle such use case? or this is
expected?

happen as we never tested such scenario in which the IPs of the hosts has

Alona, dan, can you please share your insights here?

I can confirm that, both on 4.1.5 and master.

I have reported a bug for this issues few weeks ago already. When reported
the bug at the beginning i thought the events just stopped from being
updated, but then i realized the events in engine are reversed. I changed
the summary accordingly.

Re: [ovirt-users] Renaming or deleting ovirtmgmt

2017-09-27 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Gianluca,

This is not the right flow. If you would like to have any other network in
your cluster as the management network, then you need to create it as the
management network of the cluster and then add hosts to the cluster, then
the new network which was defined as the management network of the cluster
will be the management network of the host/s in the cluster.

The correct flow will be :
1) Create new network for example - 'net1-mgmt'
2) Give 'net1-mgmt' a management role via manage networks, it can be done
via networks>clusters flow or via Cluster>logical networks flow(note that
management network must be required and attached)
3) Create cluster and choose 'net1-mgmt' as the management network of the
cluster
3) Add/install the host in the cluster

See also -
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/network/management-network-as-a-role/
It's a network feature since 3.6

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] changing ip of host and its ovirtmgmt vlan

2017-09-27 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Gianluca,

Not sure i fully understood, but, if the host's IP has changes and the vlan
then the correct flow will be:

1) Remove the host
2) Edit the management network with vlan tag - the vlan you need/want
3) Add/install the host - make sure you using the correct/new IP(if using
IP) or the correct FQDN(if has changed).

Note that doing things manually on the host such as changing ovirtmgmt's
configuration without the engine or vdsm may cause problems and will not
persist the changes during reboots. If the host's IP has changed or it's
FQDN then you must install the host again.

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] Renaming or deleting ovirtmgmt

2017-09-27 Thread Michael Burman
I was referring to situation in which the host was there before, but you
need to re-install it to the new cluster with the new management network.

No package removing is needed at all. Why would you do steps 2-4? no need.
Step 5 should work.

I'm not sure i understand what you mean by ' still I cannot remove the
default ovirtmgmt network from that cluster'??
Do you want to detach it from the cluster?
Do you want to remove it from the DC?
Note that you can change the management network role only if the cluster
has no hosts in it.

Re: [ovirt-users] How to remove a MAC Pool from a cluster?

2017-10-19 Thread Michael Burman
Hello James,

The way to do it is to assign a new MAC pool range to this cluster and then
to remove it.
This can be done via - Administration > Configure > MAC addresses pool -
There you can create/edit and remove MAC pool range entities.
So create another desired MAC pool range, assign it to the cluster(via edit
cluster) and remove the desired MAC pool range from the system.

Cheers)

2018-05-08 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Callum
Looks like you hitting https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1570388
Do you have a required network in your env(except ovirtmgmt)? try to
uncheck the 'required' from this network, this will solve the issue(via
Clusters>network or Networks>Cluster).
The bug was fixed in ovirt-engine-4.2.3.4

You should only remove the required property from the network, this will
release the host from the activating cycle in which it's stuck now.

[ovirt-users] Re: Host install failed - cannot set maintenance or remove

2018-05-08 Thread Michael Burman
Have you removed the required property?
Do you have other required networks in this cluster except ovirtmgmt?
Do you see event massages complaining that some network/s is missing in the
cluster?
What versions are your engine and vdsm?

Alona, am i missing something?

[ovirt-users] Re: OVN networks

2018-05-30 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Egor,

This feature requires Cluster enabled with Open vSwitch networking. Create
a new Cluster with Switch Type set to OVS (experimental). You need to
create a new cluster, in 'Switch Type' choose OVS.
The upgrade from linux bridge to OVS type is not officially supported.

Cheers)

I'm not so familiar with the hosted-engine --upgrade-appliance flow, can
someone from the list that is familiar with such flow assist?

Re: [ovirt-users] Clear name_server table entries

2018-02-08 Thread Michael Burman
Hi

Yes you may delete the entries, make sure you are not deleting name_server
of hosts that already running in your engine(if you have such).
Deleting the multiple entries in the DB + removing the duplicated name
servers in /etc/resolv.conf should work around this bug, which was decided
to close as WONTFIX. Just re-add the the server to engine.

Cheers)

Jiri, can you maybe assist the user with his upgrade problem?

I'm not familiar with the error and not sure how could it be that he is
already has a cluster version 4.2 prior upgrading the engine to 4.2..unless
i didn't understood it completely..

Thanks,

Thanks Dominik,

Just spoke with Dan and we decided to open a RFE to add an option to set a
custom nwfilter in the engine UI See -

Thanks for the input,

It's weird that you see this bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1528906 on 4.2.1.6 because it
was already tested and verified on 4.2.1.1
I will check this again..

Re: [ovirt-users] VDSM version is not supported for FirewallD

2017-12-25 Thread Michael Burman
Hi,

I think that you trying to add the node VDSM version 4.19.28(vdsm 4.1) to
an 4.2 cluster which configured with firewalld.
You can change the type cluster to iptables or better add this node to a
cluster 4.1 with iptables type(note that the default type for 4.1 cluster
is firewalld as well). The type can be changed via edit cluster in the
Firewall Type field.

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] Q: Change MAC address of an existing VM

2018-04-04 Thread Michael Burman
Hi,

This will change only the MAC address of that specific vNIC that you are
editing, for this specific VM.

Re: [ovirt-users] Network issues with oVirt 4.2 and cloud-init

2018-03-20 Thread Michael Burman
Hi Berger,

Have you sealed the template? if you didn't sealed the template on
creation, then your new VM has the same ifcfg-eth0 settings as your origin
VM.
In order to avoid this, you need to check the 'Seal Template (Linux only)'
checkbox in the New Template dialog.

Cheers)

Re: [ovirt-users] Change ovirtmgmt ip from dhcp to static in a

2018-03-20 Thread Michael Burman
Hello Zois,

It pretty easy to do, via the webadmin UI , go to Hosts main tab > Choose
host > go to 'Network Interfaces' sub tab > Press the 'Setup Host Networks'
button > press the pencil icon on your management network > and choose
Static IP > press OK and OK to approve the operation.

- Note that in some cases, specially if this is a SPM host you will loose
connectivity to host for few seconds and host may go to non-responsive
state, on a non-SPM host usually this woks without any specific issues.

- If the spoken host is a SPM host, I recommend to set it first to
maintenance mode, do the switch and then activate. For non-SPM host this
will work fine as well when the host is UP.

2018-03-20 Thread Michael Burman
Indeed very odd, this shouldn't behave this way, just tested it my self
and it is working as expected. Unless i miss understood you here, do you
use a different IP address when switching to static or the same IP that you
got from dhcp? if yes, then this is another flow..

Can you please share the vdsm version and vdsm log with us?

Edy, any idea what can cause this?

Re: [ovirt-users] Change ovirtmgmt ip from dhcp to static in a

2018-03-20 Thread Michael Burman
Then you need to remove the host from engine, change the IP manually on the
host, via ifcfg-file, restart network service and install the host again
via the new IP address.

If you changing the host's management IP address then this is the only way
to do it. If you have only one host in the cluster, then you will need to
shut them down :(
