[ovirt-users] hosted-engine restore bug?

2019-06-20 Thread ada per
Hello everyone,

im running on ovirt 4.3.5
For some strange reason the httpd service couldn't start on my hosted engine so
i could not access the Web interface.After various unsuccessful attempts to fix
it, I decided to restore the hosted engine.

Following the steps:
1.engine-cleanup
2.db had to delete it manually using rm -rf /var/lib/pgsql/data
3.engine-backup --mode=restore --file=backup_file --log=log_file_name
--provision-db --no-restore-permissions
4.engine-setup

On step 3 it keeps coming with error messages "FATAL: Can't connect to database
'ovirt_engine_history'. Please see '/usr/bin/engine-backup --help'.

i need to get this hosted-engine up and running so please advice

 how exactly do you access the spice console?

I am downloading the console.vv and opening it with virt-viewer.

I have the following python script that creates an external network, but now
after updating ovirt a new option "network port security" exists that is set

How can i disable the network port security?

thanks!! :)

[ovirt-users] External networks issue after upgrading to 4.3.6

2019-10-08 Thread ada per
After upgrading to the latest stable version the external networks lost all
functionality. Under providers-->ovn-network-provider the test runs
successfully.

But when im creating an external provider network, attaching it to a router
as a LAN setting up dhcp lease it is not reachable from other VMs in the
same network. Hosts and hosted engine can't seem to ping it either.
I tried disabling firewalls on both hosted engines, VMs and host and still
nothing.
When configuring Logical networks or VLANs they work perfectly tje one
problem is the external networks.

I have another environment running on a previous version of ovirt and it
works perfectly there. I think its a bug.

Thanks for your help

Can you please share the /var/log/openvswitch/ovn-controller.log from the

If you configure a subnet on the network, gets the VM an IP address?

   the  /var/log/openvswitch/ovn-controller.log  its actually
empty. So Iam Attaching yesterdays log (it wasn’t connecting but after
removing and reinstalling the hosts it connects)

Even with specifying a subnet still no IPs.

 btw the openvswitch is active

  You upgraded from which version ?

Upgraded from 4 .3.4 to 4.3.6.7-1.el7 it currently runs openvswitch
2.10.1

>> I have another environment running on a previous version of ovirt and it

Which version of ovirt is being run on that environment ? What's the
openvswitch / openvswitch-ovn-central version running on that env ?

Ovirt Version 4.3.4.3-1.el7

   Openvswitch 2.10.1 ( so both environments run the same version
of openvswitch)

  Thinking a couple steps ahead, knowing the list of registered chassis
could be useful. Please also tell us the output of the command (run it
on your engine node):
  $ ovn-sbctl list chassis

  # ovn-sbctl list chassis

object file: No such file or directory

net_mlx5: cannot initialize PMD due to missing run-time dependency on

Thank you i try pinging Host1 from Host 2 with the following results:
On a logical network Host1 can ping host2 but while on a VLAN host 1 cannot

[ovirt-users] ovirt-sdk_external network add

2019-01-28 Thread ada per
Hello everyone,
I  have the following script,
i ve been looking in ovirt-sdk but i cannot seem to find the proper way of
adding an external provider network under ovirt-ovn
I manage to add logical networks and vlans but no luck in external provider.

Any advice is appreciated

network = networks_service.add(
network=types.Network(
name='ext_net',
description='Testing network',
data_center=types.DataCenter(
name='Default'
),
 usages=[types.NetworkUsage.VM],
 external_provider='ovirt-provider-ovn', -->i know this part is
wrong what is it supposed to be called?
),

Hello again,

And how about to delete a logical network?
as remove option is not available in: system_service().networks_service()

thank you!!

Is there any other method to use the network name instead of id? if not its
fine, i ll use the list networks first and then match the ids with the
names and delete accordingly

[ovirt-users] Re: ovirt-sdk_external network add

2019-01-30 Thread ada per
Just something i noticed with the removal of external logical networks
script:

> > network_service = networks_service.network_service(network.id)
> > network_service.remove()

it only removes the network from the network list , it does not remove it
from the external provider.
And for that reason when im trying to recreate an external network
with the *same
name* as the previously removed one it comes up with error:
ovirtsdk4.Error: Fault reason is "Operation Failed". Fault detail is
"[Failed to communicate with the external provider, see log for additional
details.]". HTTP response code is 400

Is it a bug? How can it be resolved?

[ovirt-users] upgrade bug

2019-02-01 Thread ada per
After upgrading my hosts from 4.2.7.1 to 4.2.8 the external networks
stopped working!
When im starting a VM using external network it does not boot up at all!

The error message is:
"VM is down with error. Exit message: unsupported configuration: filterref
is not supported for network interfaces with virtualport type openvswitch"

I rolled it back to 4.2.7.1 for 1 of my hosts just as a test and the VMs on
that host can now bootup using external networks as they are supposed to!!

Please advice as i would like to use the upgrade!!!

[ovirt-users] Re: upgrade bug

Even newly created networks under 7.2.8 still have the network filter by
default.

THANKS :)

[ovirt-users] Hosted -engine is down and cannot be restarted

For a strange reason the hosted engine went down and I cannot restart it. I

For all the nodes the engine status is the same as the one below.

When I try the commands

I ge the response:

But when I run  : hosted-engine --vm-start
I get the response: VM exists and is down, cleaning up and restarting

[ovirt-users] Wrong engine version grts installed

2022-10-25 Thread ada per
Hello,

Both node version 4.5.3 and 4.5.2 ate installing the master version.

 The version of the engine that gets installed is
4.5.4-0.2.master.20221025103923.git936a8fcd09.el8

I do not understand why master version was installed, as I wanted the
stable version.

[ovirt-users] Re: Wrong engine version grts installed

2022-10-26 Thread ada per
Thank you for your reply,
Indeed I 1. Installed ovirt-node on some host 2. Ran there
'hosted-engine --deploy' 3. Got an engine VM that includes the master
engine

Regarding your questions

*Did you install/upgrade any package manually, prior to
deploying?ovirt-engine-appliance? Anything else?*
I did not upgrade any packages prior to deploying

What i did is:
I installed ovirt node host 4.5.3.1 without adding any packages manually-
it deployed master version#
i removed it and on a different host
I installed ovirt node host 4.5.3 without adding any packages manually- it
deployed   master version#
i then removed it and install node 4.5.2 without adding any packages
manually- it deployed master version
i removed it and reinstall 4.5.2 and install engine packages manually and
still master version was deployed even though when running engine
appliance install it says
ovirt-engine-appliance-4.5-20221018071047.1.el8.x86_64

*the results of the commands are as below:*

*rpm -qa | grep release*
