Re: [ovirt-users] deprecating export domain?
Yes, I just gave an example case. If you want to use vms with a backup, then you can just copy that vm or disk into another domain and make it as backup domain as you do it in export domain. In simple language, main aim of creating backup domain is just to use all the features available in export domain without creating a dedicated export domain. Hope you understand now:) On 2 Oct 2017 8:55 pm, "Pavel Gashev" wrote: > Shubham, > > > > I don’t really understand the process you described. Re: [ovirt-users] deprecating export domain?
Hi, The backup storage domain is quite like export storage domain but with easy usability. Since you can change any data domain into backup domain any time, you not need to create a dedicated export storage domain for backup or disaster recovery purpose. Altough its working is same as export sd. The process of backup can be as simple as this: 1) turn off all the vms in your storage domain 2) select backup flag to convert that into backup domain. Once the domain is used for backup, you cannot make any changes to its vms, disk etc as mentioned by maor. And yes, you can convert export sd to data domain using cli script but it is not required anymore. If in future export storage domain get deprecated, you not need to be worry about that much since you can convert all your export sd into data domain anytime and start using backup feature instead. [ovirt-users] Regarding wiki on Backup Storage
Hello, I just have put a PR for wiki on Backup Storage at ovirt-site[1]. The idea is to have a better backup solution for disaster recovery, in place of export storage domain. The idea is already discussed in mailing list earlier. Me and maor(as mentor) are working on this feature and till now I have done a push[2] for adding backup flag in database. I will appreciate everyone to review the wiki and share some feedback/comments about our implementation process. Re: [ovirt-users] Building oVirt engine on Debian
I have forgotten that you are doing it in debian. Maybe in case of debian the error can there for some other reason so I leave it for others to answer. But one more thing you can try is to decrease your swappiness value to 10. If you have enough ram then this will at least make your system freeze less. Re: [ovirt-users] Building oVirt engine on Debian
Hi, I got the same problem once and it seems to be related to memory. So first thing is make sure you have at least 4 gb of ram because thats the minimum requirement for ovirt-engine to run. If with 4gb+ ram you still getting error like this then you must have no swap memory turn on. In that case create a swap partition and turn on using 'swapon /dev/swap-partition'. If the error is still there then may be jvm is not able to access the memory at some place due to selinux. So disable the selinux then try again. Re: [ovirt-users] Error in attaching export storage domain
Thanks for reply, I am not sure about how to mount the storage domain manually. But I have run the nfs-check and it gives no error. One more thing I want to add is there are another sd also on the same host which are connected to another dc ,so is this can be a problem in anyway? Re: [ovirt-users] Error in starting vdsm in host
did I need to install it on the ovirt-engine machine? Recently I have created the first host for my new ovirt setup. But when I try to do initialize the host it was getting failed. So, I think I need to first configure the vdsm in the host. I tried "vdsm-tool configure" it is giving me this error. [root@localhost ~]# vdsm-tool configure Checking configuration status... lvm is configured for vdsm libvirt is already configured for vdsm FAILED: conflicting vdsm and libvirt-qemu tls configuration. vdsm.conf with ssl=False requires the following changes: libvirtd.conf: listen_tcp=1, auth_tcp="none", listen_tls=0 qemu.conf: spice_tls=0. Error: Configuration of libvirt is invalid I have changed those values in libvirtd.conf but still getting this same error. [ovirt-users] ovirt Node Building
Hello, I have recently build ovirt-engine from source using this link( http://www.ovirt.org/develop/developer-guide/engine/engine-development-environment/). Now I want to build ovirt node using this( http://www.ovirt.org/develop/projects/node/building/). I am confused that can I build that node on the same system as of ovirt-engine or I need to do these steps on any other system. [ovirt-users] Contributing on ovirt
Hello, I am interested in being part of ovirt for gsoc 2017. I have looked into ovirt project ideas and the project that I find most suitable is Configuring the backup storage in ovirt. Since the ovirt online docs have sufficient info for getting started for development so I don't have a questions about that but I want to clarify one doubt that did the previous year mentioned project on ovirt gsoc page are also available to work on? I will also appreciate any discussion about the project or question from mentor side.Even some guideline for start working is welcome. Thanks, Shubham ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
