Hi all, both of these features are going to be introduced soon. We already
have the infra to support it, and it is just a matter of some work until
it will be in.

Indeed the requests from ovirt-imageio-proxy doesn't get to
ovirt-imageio-daemon. you can see in the proxy logs that a "No route to
host" is logged.
Initially our setup opens up the needed ports in iptables in order to allow
this connection, but if it was changed somehow it will break the upload
flow. Can you make sure that port 54322 is open for input requests in

ovirt03.forest.go.th, and also open for output request where the proxy
resides? Or whatever reason for the host not be reachable?

Actually, supported QCOW formats are derived from the ovirt storage
versions (V3, etc..) of a DC, and the upload flow just restricts the user
so the supplied image that is being uploaded will be supported in the DC
that owns the target storage domain.

So basically, the DC specifies the supported formats, not the upload
feature.

V4 is about to be introduced (targeted to 4.1), and it will support QCOW2
version 1.1.
You will be able to upgrade your DCs to this version easily when it will be
available.

Hi Wee.
Looking in your logs, it looks like "ovirt-imageio-daemon" service, which
runs in the oVirt's host (ovirt03.forest.go.th), doesn't accept the
requests as should. Please, log into this host and restart this service,
running:

*service ovirt-imageio-daemon restart*

And try upload.

If this won't work, please send us the output of "journalctl -xeu
ovirt-imageio-daemon" from ovirt03.forest.go.th .

Thanks, Amit.

2016-10-31 Thread Amit Aviram
Hi Ben. Actually exactly today REST API for uploading disks was introduced
to master. It is supposed to get into the next 4.0.Z version, so if you
want you can update your version soon enough and use the API.

When you'll have the right version, you can use examples from "/api/Model"
to upload disks using oVirt's Python SDK.

If you need any help, please feel free to keep asking on the list.

Amit.

Re: [ovirt-users] ISO Import

2016-09-27 Thread Amit Aviram
Hi, Since oVirt 4.0, you can upload images as disks directly to your
storage domain, using the upload dialog in Disks -> Upload -> Start.

Uploading ISOs to ISO domain isn't implemented yet, but it will also be
introduced in one of the following releases.

As uploading a disk might be a good solution for you, you can use the "
engine-iso-uploader" if you still want to upload your ISO to the ISO domain.

Please let us know if you need any further help.

Thanks, Amit.

2016-09-01 Thread Amit Aviram
You can do both,
Through the database, the table is "vdc_options". change "option_value"
where "option_name" = 'ImageProxyAddress' .

Re: [ovirt-users] How to import a qcow2 disk into ovirt

2016-09-01 Thread Amit Aviram
You can just replace this value in the DB and change it to the right FQDN,
it is a config value named "ImageProxyAddress". replace "localhost" with
the right address (notice that the port is there too).

If this will keep happen after users will have the latest version, we will
have to open a bug and fix whatever causes the URL to be "localhost".

Can you please run engine-setup again and check if the URL of the POST
request is still localhost? bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1365744 was about running the
setup twice in order to install this feature to work.

When installing the engine, what FQDN did you set? because I see in the
logs that the browser is trying to send the disk to localhost. this is
taken from the FQDN set during setup.

Re: [ovirt-users] How to import a qcow2 disk into ovirt

2016-08-31 Thread Amit Aviram
Make sure ovirt-imageio-proxy runs in your engine's host.

Can you please attach ovirt-imageio-proxy logs from
/vat/ovirt-imageio-proxy, engine logs and your browser's console logs as
well?

lifuqiong, you need to update your oVirt version in order for this to
succeed. Please dnf/yum update ovirt-engine.

Re: [ovirt-users] How to import a qcow2 disk into ovirt

2016-08-30 Thread Amit Aviram
Hi
Actually, if you have the latest oVirt 4, you can just do that from the UI.
just go to disks tab and select "upload" -> "start".

Before doing that, make sure to make your browser trust oVirt's CA by
downloading its CA certificate from:
https://{your_engine's_URI}/ovirt-engine/services/pki-resource?resource=ca-certificate=X509-PEM-CA

Let me know if that's works for you.

Re: [ovirt-users] import qcow2 image to ovirt

2016-08-10 Thread Amit Aviram
It seems like you have an early version of ovirt-4.0, if you'll update your
version it might solve some of your problems (such as the exception in the
screenshot). soon, the size and format will be deduced from the image as
well, so many things will be clearer.

If you want to stay with your version, you'll need to do the following
steps in order to upload the file:
- At the engine's host, yum install ovirt-imageio-proxy
- Then, run engine-setup.
- Add the engine's CA to the Authorities list in your browser. (you can
download it from
https://%your_engine%/ovirt-engine/services/pki-resource?resource=ca-certificate=X509-PEM-CA
<https://engineaaviram.usersys.redhat.com:8443/ovirt-engine/services/pki-resource?resource=ca-certificate=X509-PEM-CA>
)

regarding the size- you can choose a bigger size than the original file's
size.

Hope that works out for you!

If you are using ovirt-4.0, you can just upload it to any storage domain
you have, from
Storage->domain->disks tab->Upload->Start
or:
Disks->Upload->Start

"A" is the right thing to do. after adding the host to the new cluster,
choose to reinstall it, then activate it.

Nothing special more than installing again. Still- it is recommended to
"refresh" the host's installation if you do anything significant with it,
such as upgrading its OS.

Re: [ovirt-users] Procedure to upgrade single-host datacenter from el6 to el7

Hi Rik.
The flow should work, as long as the OS is supported by oVirt.
However, you will still need to move it to a new cluster.

Re: [ovirt-users] Consult actual size the disk vm

2016-04-21 Thread Amit Aviram
Hi Marcelo.

Using the API:
- "disk.get_actual_size()" will return the actual size in bytes, which is
the value you can find as "Actual size" in GB in oVirt's webadmin, where
Idan wrote (Virtual Machines tab -> Disks sub tab -> actual size, Thanks
Idan)

- "disk.get_provisioned_size()" will return the size in bytes which is the
value you can find as "Virtual size" in GB also under the disks sub tab.

After transforming the value you got to GB, does the values seem correct?

Thanks, Amit.

Re: [ovirt-users] Getting qcow images into oVirt

2016-02-08 Thread Amit Aviram
Hi
There's an upcoming feature to upload a pre-created image into your ovirt
system. it is not merged yet, but here's a link if you are interested in
more details:
http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Image_Upload

Anyway, currently you can still manually put an ISO file in an ISO domain,
and it should appear in your web admin.

Hi Kevin, actually there is usage of a progress bar in some oVirt
processes, such as oVirt's integration with virt-v2v:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSss__Nl5rU

Also, a progress bar will be in use in the upcoming image upload feature:

and hopefully will be included in more features in the future.

Hi Somansh, and thanks for having interest in the project!
First I would recommend getting know with the architecture of oVirt:
http://www.ovirt.org/Architecture

Then you can decide whether contributing to oVirt Engine:
http://www.ovirt.org/OVirt_Engine_Development_Environment

Or to VDSM:

Of course, feel free to ask anything via the mailing lists.

Subject: [ovirt-users] VM has been paused due to unknown storage error

Hello oVirt users,

I am facing a serious problem regarding my GlusterFS storage and virtual
machines that have *bootable* disks on this storage.

All my VMs that have GlusterFS disks are occasionally (1-2 times/hour)
becoming paused with the following Error: VM vm02.mytld has been paused
due to unknown storage error.

Engine Log

unknown storage error

My iSCSI VM's, some of which may have mounted (not bootable) disks from
the same GlusterFS storage, do NOT suffer from this issue AFAIK.

My installation (oVirt 3.6/CentOS 7) is pretty much a typical one, with
a GlusterFS enabled cluster with 4 hosts, 2-3 networks, and 6-7 VMs..

Re: [ovirt-users] Storage question: single node gluster?

2015-07-15 Thread Amit Aviram
Hey Alan.

Using a single Gluster node will be like mounting any other storage, just
without Gluster's advantages of backuping/distributing the FS.
Also, you can attach nodes later on to your GlusterFS after you start using it.

(Thanks to Sahina Bose from Gluster's team for advicing (: )

Hi There,

This is not strictly oVirt, but is storage-related, so hopefully you
will indulge me?

Is there any detriment (performance or otherwise) in setting up a
single-node glusterFS storage? I know glusterFS is designed to be used
with multiple nodes, but I am wondering if there are any ill-effects in
configuring current storage as a single-node cluster, with the idea of
possibly adding future nodes in the future?

Thanks! :-)

Hi Konstantinos.

After having a look at the logs, it seems that the problem you have doesn't
relate directly to oVirt's support to a single Gluster replica, but for some
bug in that area. can you please attach the hole log files so we can open a

The good news: there is an an option for this.
The bad news: Only replica 3 is supported. Other options are for
development purposes.

[root@hv00 ~]# cat /etc/vdsm/vdsm.conf

[gluster]
# Only replica 3 is supported, this configuration is for development.
# Value is comma separated. For example, to allow replica 1 and
# replica 3, use 1,3.
allowed_replica_counts = 1,3
