Re: [Users] What do you want to see in oVirt next?

2013-01-04 Thread Bret Palsson
I'd like to see a built in VNC console that is java or a Spice java
console, something that runs cross platform, OS X, Windows, Linux etc...

 My dreams for oVirt 3.2:
 1) Packages CentOs 6.x (ovirt-engine, ovirt-guest-agent);
 2) Resize VM disk from GUI ovirt-engine;
 3) Spice for Google Chrome, this browser run in anywere O.S. and
 largest world use;

 spice-xpi 2.8 will support chrome/chromium but it will still be linux-only.

 4) Show in Virtual Machines General ip/ip's from vm OR Virtual
 Machines  Network Interfaces  show ip;
 5) ISO upload from GUI ovirt-engine the best option;
 6) Monitoring enviroment oVirt to Zabbix and Nagios(total vms, mem
 clusters, and more...) example:
 I think this would oVirt the project to another level, much higher ...

  KVM should be able to support it

  With offline migration, I means the guest is
 not running while moving

  I have 2 host machines for testing. One is
 running on a AMD Opteron and
  the other Intel Xeon. Since I can not put both

  I'm not aware that you can't.
  Ok, now is see my problem.

  yes, it will see a different cpu model. why is that an
  To move the guest I need to edit the guest and than I can

  I assume the solution for this could be a
 generic cluster definition.
  Something with a limited/specific cpu set equal
 to the qemu

[Users] Set mic order on vm

2012-10-23 Thread Bret Palsson
In our setup I need to have eth0 set to a certain MAC address. When I add the
three nics to a new vm, nic1 is not eth0. (ovirt starts with nic1 as the
first suggested name of the nic)

Any ideas?

1. CentOS 6.3
2. I didn't create from a template, but I will try that.

Thanks for the wiki link. I'll take a look at it right now.

 1. What OS you have on the guest?
 2. Did you create the VM from template?
 If the answer to 1 is Fedora/RHEL and the answer to 2 is yes, the

Re: [Users] Migrate KVM to Ovirt

2012-10-14 Thread Bret Palsson
I recently moved my KVM to oVirt KVM. I did just that, created a vm
the same size as the previous vm, added the same network interfaces,
assigned each interface the same MAC address and finally cat each
${vm}.img into the ${UUID}.img file created by oVirt.

Worked perfectly! Just make sure you cat the right img file into the
correct new vm file. To do this without trying to figure out the UUIDs
you can do one vm at a time.

 Hello Guys,

 I have a infrastructure of 2 Ubuntu servers that hosts kvm guest.

 I want to implement Ovirt, I'm wondering what is the best way to migrate

 Can i rsync the .img and the xml to Ovirt ?
 virt-v2v ?

 I want a mention that I have a VM of 800GB would it be to large for
 Ovirt or to convert ?

 shouldn't be an issue.
 main change is we still don't (yet) have a working ubuntu host support, so
 fedora or .el6 are needed for now.
 is the VM on shared or local storage?
 since it from/to kvm, you may be able to avoid copying/v2v it, rather just
 create a new VM in ovirt of same size and copy the storage over it (easiest
 with local storage or nfs shared storage)

Hi there! I've setup my own jenkins server for building oVirt-engine, I'm
wondering if I can get a copy of the ovirt-engine_create_rpms project
properties. I imagine all the *_create_rpms projects are about the same setup
with some tweaks in the scripts?
