Re: [ovirt-users] Network and VLANs

2018-02-28 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi!

Well, the problem starts here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1528906

This is a solved marked, but it isn't.

This is what still happens on some servers from us:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1540463

I have four servers, I updated all hosts on the newest state from
ovirt(4.2.1) and just for two servers worked. For other two doesn't works.
The packages seems to be the same versions on all servers, for the
"working" and "not working".

The question about oVirt Networking was my curiosity, if I can solve this
problem using another way/workaround(or even a officiall way from ovirt).

If you need more info, I give all the info that you need or I can even
create a bugzilla ticket for that.

Thanks!

All the best,

Gabriel

[ovirt-users] Network and VLANs

2018-02-22 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

I have some problems adding VLANs to my VMs and I don't known if there is
a better way to do that, like a 'oVirt Way'.

All I need is to have a VM on "Test Network" that communicates with another
hardware/VMs on "Test Network". All VLANs are configured on my Switch, the
Hosts from oVirt are connected and tagged to this VLANs.

Is there a "oVirt Way" to do that other than "Setup Networks"? Can I use
with oVirt an Virtual Switch? Or a Network Stack?

I wrote this Bug about my Problem...

Bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1540463

Thanks in Advance!

Best Regards,

Gabriel

[ovirt-users] SSL Workflow for oVirt

2018-01-23 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

I think that I found a way to solve the problem from:
http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2018-January/086441.html and I'm
trying to fix it.

But my servers are in Production(50%) and I found that are some errors with
my SSL Certificates.

## What I need now? Fixes all certificates problems using my Freeipa
generated certificates: vdsmclient* on hosts, ovirt-engine communication
ssl certificates on hosted-engine.

I made with Freeipa(internal) the certificates for ovirt-engine( only
apache - self hosted) and Hosts(vsdmclient and vdsmkey) and replaced
using this howto:

https://gist.github.com/qrkourier/9c9ac3e8b190dcb91d3767179d5a39ea

## Now ovirt-engine can't contact a Host(Non Responsive) with the
errors(Yes, I have a Backup from all old certificates):

*VDSM host.domain.tld command GetCapabilitiesVDS failed: General SSLEngine
problem*

On engine.log:

*2018-01-23 13:33:40,160+01 ERROR
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.vdsbroker.GetAllVmStatsVDSCommand]
(EE-ManagedThreadFactory-engineScheduled-Thread-23) [] Command
'GetAllVmStatsVDSCommand(HostName = host.domain.tld,
VdsIdVDSCommandParametersBase:{hostId='d6bc650b-7edd-4019-b316-54313217880f'})'
execution failed: VDSGenericException: VDSNetworkException: General
SSLEngine problem*
*2018-01-23 13:33:40,160+01 INFO
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.monitoring.PollVmStatsRefresher]
(EE-ManagedThreadFactory-engineScheduled-Thread-23) [] Failed to fetch vms
info for host 'host.domain.tld' - skipping VMs monitoring.*

## I read, that ovirt-engine generates certificates for all hosts and it
uses his own CA.

Questions:

- How can I fix the communication from hosted-engine and vsdm on hosts?
Should I copy my Freeipa ca.crt and replace the ca.der file on
*/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs*?

- Should I change the engine.cer certificate from */etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs
*with my Certificate made using Freeipa?

- How to do that properly?

- Where can I find a complete workflow from SSL Certificates from oVirt?
What certificates should I change?

## I found some links that to me are confusing(or I'm just dumb), I will
take my end solution and do a howto to all:

how updated is that? I can't overwrite a ca from ovirt-engine?

- https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/appe-oVirt_and_SSL/ *- *
*Note:** Using a commercially issued certificate for HTTPS connections does
not affect the certificate used for authentication between your Engine and
hosts. They will continue to use the self-signed certificate generated by
the Engine... *

... Well, why I keep receiving errors with the self-signed CA from
ovirt-engine and the disk uploads?(*Unable to upload image to disk
a-b-c-d-e due to a network error. Make sure ovirt-imageio-proxy service is
installed and configured, and ovirt-engine's certificate is registered as a
valid CA in the browser. The certificate can be fetched from
https:///ovirt-engine/services/pki-resource?resource=ca-certificate=X509-PEM-CA*
)

Thanks in Advance!

Best Regards,

Gabriel
PS: I would help with the oVirt Wiki if needed, I would follow the rhce
path and do the rhcs certification too, will be nice to study a lot.

Re: [ovirt-users] Uploading big raw disks into storage

2018-01-22 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi again!

Well, I discovered something new importing using the upload_disk.py
from sdk4 "created" thousands of shards on my glusterfs volume. Is there a
way to remove this files? What will happen if I delete all files from
.shard/*? Will break my volume?

Thanks, if needed I will ask directly on glusterfs mailing-list.

Best Regards Gabriel

[ovirt-users] Uploading big raw disks into storage

2018-01-22 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hello!

I'm still migrating the VMs from Proxmox to oVirt, migrating all disks, one
by one.

Google Chrome doesn't accept anymore the certificates from ovirt-engine,
firefox it's ok.

Error(I receive that direct from start from upload on google chrome, on
firefox works):

*Unable to upload image to disk a-b-c due to a network error. Make sure
ovirt-imageio-proxy service is installed and configured, and ovirt-engine's
certificate is registered as a valid CA in the browser. The certificate can
be fetched from

BUT! When I'm uploading big disks(using firefox), such > 100GB,
ovirt-engine interrupts the process, giving the same error above. I think
that is a kind of timeout and the error doesn't show the real problem.

On engine.log is the same error. on image-proxy.log:

There is a bugzilla bug, but it's confusing, I'm already using the version
4.2 and the error persists.

Bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1514887(no, I'm not
restaring the daemon, the it seems something similar)

A thread on version 4.05:

I need some help...

Thanks in Advance!

[ovirt-users] ovirt 4.2 and multiple networks

2018-01-04 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

I'm trying now to migrate the Networks from an old Proxmox to oVirt. I'm
doing manually, adding them to oVirt and using VLAN Tag.

But I have a small problem: this VLANs hasn't any gateway/ip address
configuration, they are just a bridge to the VMs.

After I added all networks to oVirt, I tried to configure these networks on
a host, network interfaces, setup networks, and attach them to an
interface

After I attached one network and choose OK, I receive this error on oVirt:
Error while executing action:

hostabc.domain.tld:

   - must match

"^\b((25[0-5]|2[0-4]\d|[01]\d\d|\d?\d)\_){3}(25[0-5]|2[0-4]\d|[01]\d\d|\d?\d)"
   - Attribute: ipConfiguration.iPv4Addresses[0].gateway

Re: [ovirt-users] [Call for feedback] share also your successful upgrades experience

2017-12-23 Thread Gabriel Stein
Well, I finally upgraded all to 4.2. Unfortunately I broke a Server in the
upgrade process and I needed much more time than expected(the Host was with
Hosted Engine and Gluster). I will not go further on that problems because
I interrupted the upgrade process and try to fix it and I ended with a
kernel panic.

I recommend to use tmux or screen for the upgrade.

My experience:

I used this tutorial for the upgrade process:
https://ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/hosted-engine/#upgrade-hosted-engine

You can use it for the Hosted Engine VM and the Hosts. Be patient, don't
interrupt the yum update process, and follow the instructions.
If you have a locale different than US-UTF8, please change it for US-UTF8
before the upgrade process. Where? /etc/locale.conf on CentOS. If you are
using e.g. puppet, please deactivate it on upgrade process, to avoid the
locale change(if you have something on puppet that changes it).

Problems:

I still having problems with glusterfs(Peer Rejected) and unstable, but it
probably happens because I copied the UUID from the broke server from
glusterfs and added the new installed server with same ip back to gluster.

IMHO:
Please check that you have the engine backup done. Save it somewhere, NFS,
rsync-it to another server
When running engine-setup after the yum update on ovirt-engine VM: don't to
the in place upgrade from postgresql. It's really nice to have it, but you
you can avoid risks, why do so?
Keep the Backup from Postgresql.

Previous Version: 4.1.x
Updated to: 4.2

Setup:

CentOS 7.4.108
4 Servers, 3 with Gluster for engine.

If you have questions

Best Regards,

Gabriel

Re: [ovirt-users] Upgrade to 4.2 Postgresql Error

2017-12-22 Thread Gabriel Stein
Well, that's the problem! I interrupted the yum process and that destroyed
my yum. I tried to fix it and I ended with a beautiful kernel panic. But
I'm guilty, not ovirt.

I will install on another hosts, but first I will need to recover the host
with kernel panic. I will open another thread with this problem.

All the best!

BTW: I already tried to change the
postgresql-setup(/opt/rh/rh-postgresql95/root/usr/bin/postgresql-setup) as
I found in a postgresql forum:

export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
export LANGUAGE="en_US.UTF-8"
export LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
export LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8"

Didn't help.

Thanks!

[ovirt-users] Upgrade to 4.2 Postgresql Error

2017-12-20 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi!

well, I'm a update fever and I decided to update my ovirt to 4.2.0.

How I'm doingi it?

I'm following the rules!

1 - Global Maintenance Mode
2 - Yum Install ovirt-release-4.2
3- yum update ovirt-setup*.

But, by the engine-setup I have a conflict with the system collation and
postgresql. Unfortunatelly I changed via puppet to the german
collation(de_DE-UTF8) of ovirt-engine hosted vm(because it's a standard for
us) but this was after the engine-setup and the DB Configuration from
Postgresql.

I think that I can easily change the system collation to us-US-UFT8 but I'm
afraid that I can "destroy" my hosted-engine VM with that change, is
hosted-engine so sensible?

How I know that error? The logs are saying that(and the error in on
postgresql upgrade part of setup)!

*Performing Consistency Checks*
*-*
*Checking cluster versions ok*
*Checking database user is the install user ok*
*Checking database connection settings ok*
*Checking for prepared transactions ok*
*Checking for reg* system OID user data typesok*
*Checking for contrib/isn with bigint-passing mismatch ok*
*Checking for invalid "line" user columnsok*
*Creating dump of global objects ok*
*Creating dump of database schemas*
*  engine*
*  ovirt_engine_history*
*  postgres*
*  template1*
*ok*

*lc_collate values for database "postgres" do not match: old
"en_US.UTF-8", new "de_DE.UTF-8"*
*Failure, exiting*

I would be thankful if someone could give me some hint about that!

Best Regards,

Gabriel
PS: If I go to devconf in Brno I will pay a lot of beers to the developer
of the engine-setup rollback! Saved my life!

[ovirt-users] Ovirt with Hosted Engine and 4 Hosts

2017-12-19 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

I know, that oVirt with Hosted Engine requires a replica 3 glusterfs
volume, but I'm using 4 nodes and I would like to know if is possible to
add it to the glusterfs engine volume.

Or should I always use 3, 5 and 7 hosts with hosted-engine?

What I'm doing:

gluster volume add-brick engine server1:/gluster/engine/brick1
server2:/gluster/engine/brick1 server3:/gluster/engine/brick1
server4:/gluster/engine/brick1

Error:
volume add-brick: failed: Incorrect number of bricks supplied 4 with count 3

If I'm using replica 3 will not be possible, but how can I upgrade it?
Adding 2 more nodes and upgrade to replica 5?

Thanks in Advance!

Best Regards

Gabriel Stein

[ovirt-users] Centos Repos vs. oVirt Repos

2017-12-04 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

Sorry, I'm implementing oVirt and learning all 'by doing'.

I have a Foreman/Katello Instance running and providing the standard
repositories from CentOS: OS(Base), Updates, Extras. All Hosts subscribes
this Repos and I can update all.

Since I installed oVirt on Hosts using the
oVirt-Repos(ovirt-4.1-dependencies.repo and ovirt-4.1.repo) I have this
conflicts with qemu-tools-*.

I already read the files from repos and I saw that the Base Repo from
CentOS has qemu-tools packages and the repos from oVirt too and have than
conflicts with booth(Check Upgrade doesn't works, (Re)install for Hosts
doesn't works too).

When I disable the Base Repo from CentOS on Foreman/Katello everything
works.

Since I'm using all standard repos from CentOS and oVirt, I would like to
know how do you do with this conflicts? Should I disable the Base Repos on
all oVirt Hosts, should I merge them? Add them to Foreman/Katello?

I already sent an E-Mail to List asking about repos conflicts and I would
like to know if there is a 'best-practice' for oVirt-Hosts.

Thanks in Advance!

Best Regards,

Gabriel

[ovirt-users] Migration from Proxmox to oVirt

2017-12-03 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi again!

well, I'm trying to migrate all my VMs from Proxmox to oVirt. Proxmox
doesn't have libvirt and I can dump the files using vzdump
and the output is a *.vma file I think from Proxmox. I can't
even find the files, Proxmox create Logical Volumes for every VM.

I converted that to *.qcow2 using qemu-img convert, the conversion
worked(at least no errors) but I can't import it using a script that I
found on web* and the export storage domain(oVirt didn't found it).

I would like to know if there is a way to do that. I read a lot about and
found that one could build a conversion server and use virt-v2v to import.
But it will require a RH Enterprise for that, right? I don't have a
subscription and I would like to know if is possible without the
subscription?

And sorry for the offtopic question, if there is a "redhat" which would
like to answer me privately, if I buy a subscription for 1 Server and I
have NN CentOS Servers, it will be possible to use all benefits since I
have a valid subscription(of course, support just for the RH Server)?

an import through KVM), but this just works.

=> How to Migrate VMs from Proxmox:

Requirements:

- Port 54322/tcp open on oVirt Hosts
- ovirt-imageio-daemon running on Hosts
- ovirt-imageio-proxy running on (Hosted)-Engine.

-- Attention: this will move disks through different Storages from Proxmox.
--

1 - Add a Storage to Proxmox, like NFS or a local share.
2 - Click on a VM from Proxmox and choose the option "Move Disk" on the
taskbar above.
3 - Choose qcow2 as a export file and save the file on the added storage.
4 - On oVirt-Engine go to Disks and click on Upload(Taskbar above) and add
the size of disk from Proxmox( to check how big it is: on Proxmox through
"Hardware" on the left sidebar from VM).
5 - Create a new VM and attach the qcow2 disk.
6 - Check the Network Configs, if you did something with udev-rules you
will need to change the mac address.

Many Thanks to Gianluca and Nathanäel!

Best Regards,

Gabriel

Re: [ovirt-users] Migration from Proxmox

2017-12-01 Thread Gabriel Stein
Solved!

On Hosted Engine:

tail -f /var/log/ovirt-imageio-proxy/image-proxy.log

Look which Host is on 'no route to host' and firewall-cmd --permanent
--add-port=54322/tcp && firewall-cmd --reload

Uploading now and I will test!

Thanks!

Well, now I have a new problem...

Uploading a qcow2 gets paused and I receive an error:

Question: I saw that there is a imageio-proxy and imageio-daemon. Proxy is
installed on hosted-engine, and imageio-daemon on host.

I installed imageio-daemon on hosted-engine(and I think that was a mistake)
but there isn't a vdsmcert.pem there, just on hosts with vdsm and
hosted-engine installed.

Ports are already on firewall, 54323/tcp right?

On Host:
# systemctl status ovirt-imageio-daemon
● ovirt-imageio-daemon.service - oVirt ImageIO Daemon
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ovirt-imageio-daemon.service;
disabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) since So 2017-11-26 23:26:03 CET; 4 days ago
 Main PID: 21034 (ovirt-imageio-d)
   CGroup: /system.slice/ovirt-imageio-daemon.service
   └─21034 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/ovirt-imageio-daemon

Am I doing something wrong? Installation from hosted-engine and host are
quite normal, no custom stuff.

Thanks!

[ovirt-users] Migration from Proxmox

2017-12-01 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi again!

well, I'm trying to migrate all my VMs from Proxmox to oVirt. Proxmox
doesn't have libvirt and I can dump the files using vzdump
and the output is a *.vma file I think from Proxmox. I can't
even find the files, Proxmox create Logical Volumes for every VM.

[ovirt-users] ovirt 4.1, hosted engine and hyperconvergence

2017-11-26 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi!

I'm having problems to add new hosts on ovirt web interface and deploying
the hosted engine.

Everything works until yum try to install the needed packages.

Error:

Failed to install Host a.b.c. Yum ['qemu-kvm-tools-ev conflicts with
10:qemu-kvm-tools-1.5.3-141.el7_4.2.x86_64', 'qemu-kvm-tools conflicts with
10:qemu-kvm-tools-ev-2.9.0-16.el7_4.8.1.x86_64'].

I already tried:

- delete all repos and leave just ovirt and centos-base(doesn't works)
- yum update(no updates)

Some Data:

CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)
oVirt Engine Version: 4.1.7.6-1.el7.centos

Any Hints?

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Gabriel

[ovirt-users] Networking and oVirt 4.1

2017-07-04 Thread Gabriel Stein
Hi all,

I'm installing oVirt for the first time and I'm having some issues with the
Networking.

Setup:

OS: CentOS 7 Mininal
3 Bare Metal Servers(1 for Engine, 2 for Nodes).
Network:
Nn Trunk Interfaces with VLANs and Bridges.
e.g.:
trunk.100, VLAN: 100, Bridge: vmbr100. IPV4 only.

I have already a VLAN for MGMNT, without DHCP Server(not needed for oVirt,
but explaining my setup).

Networking works as expected, I can ping/ssh each host without problems.

On the two nodes, I have a Interface named ovirtmgmt and dhcp...

Question 1: What kind of configuration can I use here? Can I set static IPs
from VLAN MGMNT and put everything from oVirt on that VLAN? oVirt doens't
have a Internal DHCP Server for Nodes, or?

Question 2: Should I leave oVirt to Setup it(ovirtmgmt Interface) for me?

Problems:

I configured the Engine with the IP 1.1.1.1, and I reach the web interface
with https://FQDN( which is IP: 1.1.1.1)

But, when I add a Host to the Cluster, I have some errors:

"Host does not comply with the cluster Default networks, the following
networks are missing on host: 'ovirtmgmt'"

Question 3: I saw that Engine tries to call dhclient and Setup an IP for
it, but could I have static IPs? Where can I configure it?
