[ovirt-users] 3.6 engine-backup

2016-03-03 Thread Giorgio Bart
Hi all,
I just upgraded From 3.5 to 3.6 and I run a backup with engine-backup. The
resulting files are very small in size compared to those created with the
engine-backup command from 3.5. Is this correct ?
old backup( scope=files) : 15MB
new backup(scoope=files):  177KB

In the old backup file the biggest size is from var directory

24M./lib/ovirt-engine
24M./lib

Thank you Martin. I was talking about 3.5 here, forgot to mention.

[ovirt-users] moving db

2016-01-25 Thread Giorgio Bart
Hi all,
is this the correct way to move engine db from one server to another?

1) service engine stop
2) dump db
3) restore dump on new db server
4) modify /etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/10-setup-database.conf
5) run engine-setup

Thanks,
Giorgio

The problem should be only the encrypted password?
I'd like to know if engine-setup will read and apply the new
configurations from
the file

Ok, so if i modify any of the config under /etc/ovirt-engine, for example
the db parameters,
and restart the engine service it should just work, right ?

Re: [ovirt-users] export from 3.5 and import in 3.6

2015-11-14 Thread Giorgio Bart
No . I didn't try becouse attaching an export domain from a 3.5 i have:
"This Data center compatibility version does not support importing a data
domain with its entities (VMs and Templates). The imported domain will be
imported without them."

So i stopped and just ask forn info.

[ovirt-users] python sdk : how to get disks from storage domain

2015-11-05 Thread Giorgio Bart
Hello,
I'm writing a python script to draw a graph of the disks and virtual
machines in relation to their "position" in the data center.
I am using pygraphviz to draw the graph, I found the vm and their disks, data
centers and their storage domains, but I can not connect the disks to the
storage domains.
Here's the code I'm using:

#! /usr/bin/python

import pygraphviz as PG
from ovirtsdk.api import API
from ovirtsdk.xml import params
#per Graphviz:
A = PG.AGraph(directed=True, strict=False)
A.graph_attr.update(size="800")

VERSION = params.Version(major='3', minor='0')

URL =   'https://xxx/api'
USERNAME =  'xxx'
PASSWORD =  ''

api = API ( url=URL,
username=USERNAME,
password=PASSWORD,
insecure=True)
for vm in api.vms.list():
for disco in vm.get_disks().list():
A.add_edge(vm.name,disco.name)

for dc in api.datacenters.list():
A.add_edge("ovirt-engine", dc.get_name())
for dc_storage in dc.storagedomains.list():
A.add_edge(dc.get_name(), dc_storage.name)

api.disconnect()
A.write('ovirt_graph.dot')
A.layout(prog='dot')
A.draw('ovirt_graph.png') # draw png
