Hi Francois,

Sorry but I’m at GMT +7, so this is the earliest I could reply ;) Probably
better sticking to the list since there are more users in your timezone on it.

You said that the ISO mounted on the engine, that means your firewall etc are
probably correct. File permissions are correct (vdsm:kvm), I can’t imagine why
you’re not seeing it.

I’ve found the engine-uploader to be slow and clunky. Normally I just SCP to
the directory 111.111… and change permissions.

In the engine WebAdmin, after selecting the ISO storage domain, there are 4
tabs below. What happens when you click on the “images” tab?

Hello,

I'm sorry but I really don't understand why I can't see my images. I need help :

My ISO NFS Storage is on 191.30.80.10:/mnt/array1/ISOvirt. I added and mounted
this NFS on my administration portal with this configuration :
Export Path : 191.30.80.10:/mnt/array1/ISOvirt

I upload my files with #engine-iso-uploader upload -i ISO
and if I go to the directory 191.30.80.10:/mnt/array1/ISOvirt//-111 I
can see all my images.

My /etc/exports looks like

[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/exports
var/lib/exports/iso
*(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,all_squash,anonuid=36,anongid=36)
191.30.80.10:/mnt/array1/ISOvirt 191.30.80.1(rw,sync,no_acl)

With 191.30.80.1 the IP of my ovirt-engine. I have not succeeded seeing UID:GID
of my uploaded files because I don't know how to go on the directory with Linux
. I just go to this directory with a Windows computer that is on a the same
network.

Thank you for you help.

Re: [ovirt-users] Rép. : RE: Iso issue

2016-05-11 Thread Jack Greene
That’s why you can’t see it in the engine. UID:GID need to be 36:36. You can
test this by manually changing the ownership in the ISO directory.

chown 36:36 *.iso

Your nfs-server is stripping the UID

My exports file looks like

[root@s2 ~]# cat /etc/exports

/mnt/iso192.168.1.0/24(rw,sync,no_acl)

I think if you should be fine to rerun engine-setup in the engine-vm since
you didn't join a cluster. If you don't want to have to retype the answers

There is/was a bug that prevented the tooltip from showing the actual error.
Not sure which version this is fixed in. Anyway the exclamation is usually one
of two things:

1. The defined OS for the VM doesn't match the actual detected OS in the VM
(For instance you selected Windows 7 and the actual installed one is Windows 7
64bit).
2. The timezone doesn't match. This might cause some timezone related issues
and that is why the exclamation mark is there.

Of course, I meant "annoying" in a good way ;)

Yep, 'xz' was missing, libs were there but not the compressor

[root@engine1 ~]# rpm -qa | grep xz
xz-libs-4.999.9-0.5.beta.20091007git.el6.x86_64

Installed package xz

[root@engine1 ~]# rpm -qa | grep xz
xz-4.999.9-0.5.beta.20091007git.el6.x86_64
xz-libs-4.999.9-0.5.beta.20091007git.el6.x86_64

Backup worked like a charm. Cheers

Perhaps it's because you do not have 'xz' installed, and engine-backup defaults
to use xz for the --files-compressor?

It will be fixed in 3.6.5, where engine-backup is packaged separately, with
proper 'Require:' lines in the spec file:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1320092
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/55045

Please try installing 'xz' and run engine-backup again. If it fails, please
report back. Thanks.

That's an option too.

And you do not loose much by using it, because the files tar is compressed
anyway when the archive is compressed, using gzip by default. 'files' are
usually very small, compared to the databases, so the difference is not
significant.

[ovirt-users] backup-engine 3.6.4.1-1 Files Compressor still broken in Centos 6.7? Work around

2016-04-16 Thread Jack Greene
Been trying to run a complete backup on a fresh install to get rid of that
annoying alert.

engine-backup --scope=all

Kept failing with the error:

2016-04-17 04:05:31 8742: Creating temp folder
/tmp/engine-backup.ymrXeYZay1/tar

2016-04-17 04:05:31 8742: OUTPUT: - Files

2016-04-17 04:05:31 8742: Backing up files to
/tmp/engine-backup.ymrXeYZay1/tar/files

2016-04-17 04:05:31 8742: FATAL: Failed backing up /etc/ovirt-engine

Research shows a bug reported on version 3.6.0 related to the tar options

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/48596/3/packaging/bin/engine-backup.sh

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1282397

But a grep of the script shows the changes have been made

[root@engine1 iso]# grep cpSs /usr/share/ovirt-engine/bin/engine-backup.sh

[root@engine1 iso]# grep cpS /usr/share/ovirt-engine/bin/engine-backup.sh

tar -C "${dir}" -cpS"${ARCHIVE_COMPRESS_OPTION}"f "${file}" . >>
"${tar_log}" 2>&1

tar -C / --files-from - -cpS"${FILES_COMPRESS_OPTION}"f
"${target}" || logdie "Failed backing up ${paths}"

Verified I had a new version (just re-installed ovirt-engine today)

ovirt-engine-3.6.4.1-1.el6.noarch

Linux engine1.attlocal.net 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Mar 23
03:35:39 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

# ovirt-engine-backup - oVirt engine backup and restore utility

# Copyright (C) 2013-2016 Red Hat, Inc.

Then I noticed there is an option to turn off -files-compressor. Doing this
I was able to get a complete backup.

[root@engine1 iso]# engine-backup --mode=backup --scope=files
--file=/mnt/h97m/backup_files_20160417
--log=/root/backup_files_20160417.log --files-compressor=None

Backing up:

Notifying engine

- Files

Packing into file '/mnt/h97m/backup_files_20160417'

Notifying engine

Done.

[root@engine1 iso]# engine-backup --mode=backup --scope=all
--file=/mnt/h97m/backup_all_20160417 --log=/root/backup_all_20160417.log
--files-compressor=None

Backing up:

Notifying engine

- Files

- Engine database 'engine'

Packing into file '/mnt/h97m/backup_all_20160417'

Notifying engine

Done.

[root@engine1 iso]# service ovirt-engine start

Passing this on in case I need the work around again ;)

Re: [ovirt-users] New User 3.6 - ovirt-image-repository

2016-04-12 Thread Jack Greene
Thanks for the reply.

You’re right the v1 images aren’t really what I need but the cirros disk was
helpful. This is my 1st engine setup and the ovirt-image-repository has the
URL of http://glance.ovirt.org:9292 in external providers. That works after I
used the tab at the top but only v1 images are available. I did create my own
Centos 6.7 minimal template.

You should access /api/v2 rather than just /v2.

I was surprised to see /v1 actually works, but /api/v2 should give you what you
need.

What issue do you see in oVirt with the image repository?

I must admit that the images there are not that up-to-date, so not sure they
would be sufficient for you anyway.

Is there a way to tell my new engine to use the v1 repo or are those templates

Re: [ovirt-users] New User 3.6 - ovirt-image-repository < Solved?

2016-04-12 Thread Jack Greene
Ok figured out I was clicking in the wrong place looking for the repo

http://i.imgur.com/bJUD0Co.png

Seems the icon in the navigation pane does nothing except allow you to see
your external providers. The repo is actually across the top in the
resource tabs under storage. Feeling dumb (been looking at this for 2 days)
but posting the image in case it helps another new user.

>From the Red Hat Community -
http://community.redhat.com/blog/2014/10/up-and-running-with-ovirt-3-5/
>From the storage tab, you should see an "ovirt-image-repository" entry next
to a little OpenStack logo. Clicking on this domain will bring up a menu of
images available in this repository. Click on the "CirrOS" image (which is
very small and perfect for testing) in the list and then click "Import,"
before hitting the OK button in the pop-up dialog to continue.
