Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to add VM Portal successfully

2018-01-04 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Pym,

to deploy VM Portal (ovirt-web-ui) next to the engine one needs to compile
it from sources to rpm package [1], and install it next to ovirt-engine
package. Container deployment is not used by default.

Technically ovirt-web-ui is another war application served by engine's
Wildfly.
See symlink /usr/share/ovirt-engine/ovirt-web-ui.war and configuration file
/etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/50-ovirt-web-ui.conf of package
ovirt-web-ui [2] for details.

Best regards
Jakub

Hello Gianluca,

ultimate source of truth for the engine is line [1] and possibly subsequent
update clauses. It contains Broadwell-noTSX for 4.1 as well as planned 4.2.

Re: [ovirt-users] VM Portal looking for translators

2017-08-22 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Doug,

there is no extra permission needed. As said above ovirt-web-ui project is
open to all registered Zanata users. One just need to be a member of
language group of language one wants to translate.

In this case probably Brazilian Portuguese [1]. Please follow the link and
request a language group membership [2]. This request needs to be approved
by pt-br language group coordinator. The approval usually comes in days.
Once a user is a member of a language group, (s)he can edit translations of
all open projects in Zanata, including ovirt-web-ui.

Re: [ovirt-users] VM Portal looking for translators

2017-08-22 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
ovirt-web-ui Zanata project should be open to all registered translators.

The suspicion is correct - one really needs to be an approved member of a
language group to be able to edit translations of that particular language.
Otherwise red padlock icon is shown with pretty counter-intuitive text
"This project-version is readonly. It cannot be edited."

Re: [ovirt-users] cannot exceed maximum memory size

2017-03-09 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Based on the snipped provided at the beginning of the conversation I
assume rest api v3 is used. I'm not sure, max memory property was
backported there.

@Juan do we have some support for 4.1 changes in rest api v3?

In rest api v4 it's
http://ovirt.github.io/ovirt-engine-api-model/4.1/#types/memory_policy/attributes/max
.

amount in bytes

Re: [ovirt-users] cannot exceed maximum memory size

2017-03-09 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi all,

Since engine 4.1 there is new property of VMs/templates - max memory
[1] that is required to be larger than (or equal to) memory size. The
problem is probably caused by the fact that the specified memory (I
assume that value of `memo` is 20480MB) is larger that max memory
that is implicitly copied from template (Blank in this case). I can
see two possible solutions:
* Explicitly specifying size of max memory in the script.
* Increasing max memory in the template.

Re: [ovirt-users] [ovirt-devel] New oVirt 4.0.x documentation now live!

2017-01-16 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi,

as Cam mentioned bunch of links is not working:

* all links in section 'Developer Documentation' section
* 'Quick Start Guide' in section 'Primary Documentation section'
* all links in section 'Community Documentation'

Also some links differs in font size and serif/sans-serif. Maybe we
shouldn't mix the fonts. I personally like to original smaller
sans-serif font more.

Github wiki would allow us instant publishing, review after after
publishing, it works purely in browser (no need for running local ruby
server) and it's a service that doesn't require any maintenance form
our side.

Re: [ovirt-users] change tmp directory when importing VMs

2016-08-30 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Cam,

unfortunately there is no direct support for customizing TMPDIR in engine. It
can be solved by calling `virt-v2v` indirectly:

# cp /usr/bin/virt-v2v /usr/bin/virt-v2v-original
# cat > /usr/bin/virt-v2v < #!/usr/bin/sh
> env TMPDIR=/path/to/custom/tmp /usr/bin/virt-v2v-original $@
> EOF

This solution will only survive till next virt-v2v update.

Re: [ovirt-users] how to debug no audio in guest?

2016-08-25 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Gianluca,

QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none is most probably the problem. Libvirt is supposed to set
"QEMU_AUDIO_DRV" to "spice" for VMs with graphics. Please make sure that the
"Optimize for" attribute is set to "Desktop" (in Edit VM dialog) and try to
shutdown and start the VM again. If the QEMU process will still have
QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none set, you can try to set the variable in
/etc/sysconfig/libvirtd by adding line "QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=spice" and restart the
libvirtd service.

Procedure below uses domain credentials stored in engine configuration. It can
be customized using `engine-config` tool with keys 'SysPrepDefaultUser' and
'SysPrepDefaultPassword'.

  * In "Initial Run" side tab check "Use Cloud-Init/Sysprep" and fill "Domain",
"Organization Name" and "Active Directory OU".
2. Create a pool based on the template above.
3. Run and Shutdown all pool VMs from webadmin for sysprep to be executed.

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirt 3.5.6: ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "pk_images" during import

2016-08-18 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Andrea,

IIUIC the problem occurs during import VM from external domain. I can see two
options to save data on disks:
* Export storage domain can be detached and removed from engine. Install new
separate engine and try to import VMs into new engine.
* Alternative is to use virt-viewer to create a vm and directly attach images
form export domain to the vm. The images have standard qcow2 format.

Re: [ovirt-users] Change local DC host address

2016-08-17 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi Alexandr,

changing host address is not supported in general. The only way to do so is to
remove and re-add the host. I'm not sure if there is some way for storage to
survive the re-adding.
@Tal, can you please add details?

Re: [ovirt-users] leasing of vms

2016-08-10 Thread Jakub Niedermertl
Hi,

permissions are accessible using REST API (endpoint api/vms/{vmId}/permissions)
so it can be scripted in time based manner.

Regarding quotas for VMs, there are CPU profiles [1]. @Roy, can you please
provide details?

I've created a bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1252534 and

 Ahoj Kubo,

 would you try running 'sudo vdsClient -s 0 setSafeNetworkConfig' right
 after restarting the network service? I think your configuration needs
 be persisted in VDSM's network persistence so it is restored (with the
 same configuration) on startup.

 Anyway, VDSM should be used to configure networks (directly using
 vdsClient or indirectly through oVirt engine or via other means -- RPC).
 Your network may be configured by running (assuming your NIC is eth0):

 vdsClient -s 0 setupNetworks
 'networks={ovirtmgmt:{nic:eth0,bootproto:dhcp,blockingdhcp:true,bridged:true,stp:false,defaultRoute:false}}'

 If this doesn't help please attach /var/log/vdsm/supervdsm.log or file a
 bug with myself as the assignee :-)

 Thanks,
 Ondra

  Hi all,

  I'd like my ovirtmgmt bridge to fetch ip address from dhcp, but vdsm keeps
  removing 'BOOTPROTO=dhcp' from
  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ovirtmgmt.

  I set the file as follows:

   DEVICE=ovirtmgmt
   TYPE=Bridge
   DELAY=0
   STP=off
   ONBOOT=yes
   BOOTPROTO=dhcp
   MTU=1500
   DEFROUTE=no
   NM_CONTROLLED=no
   IPV6INIT=no

  call 'sudo systemctl restart network' and ip address is successfully
  assigned. Then reboot the machine and ip address is not fetched and
  ifcfg-ovirtmgmt looks like this

   # Generated by VDSM version 4.17.0-1240.git487a19e.fc22
   DEVICE=ovirtmgmt
   TYPE=Bridge
   DELAY=0
   STP=off
   ONBOOT=yes
   MTU=1500
   DEFROUTE=no
   NM_CONTROLLED=no
   IPV6INIT=no
   HOTPLUG=no

  Is there any way how to prevent vdsm from removing BOOTPROTO statement or
  make ovirtmgmt to work with dhcp?

  Environment:
  Host: runs in virt-manager vm, Fedora 22
  vdsm: 4.17.0-1240.git487a19e.fc22 from
  http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-3.6-pre/rpm/fc$releasever/

  Thanks.

Hi Koen,

AFAIK WebAdmin UI doesn't provide such feature. However it can be scripted
using Java SDK, Python SDK or REST API.

http://www.ovirt.org/Python-sdk

 Subject: [ovirt-users] Autostart VM

 Hi Guys,

 I couldn't find anything directly concerning my following question, so If it
 was asked before, I'm sorry...

 Is there a way to config ovirt in a way that when you created a new vm, it
 will automatically boot? Because now, when you create a VM it stays in down
 state.

 Kind regards,

 Koen
