[ovirt-users] Re: How to set custom VM property in ovirt ?

2019-07-04 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

If anyone stuck like me then below is solution for this :
=> ^[a-z_A-Z0-9]+=\d+(,[a-z_A-Z0-9]+=\d+)*$

[a-z_A-Z0-9]+ => this indicate match for string. here + mean multiple
character .
= => as ":" was not shown in engine-config suggesion I used '=' as
seperator.
\d+ => any number. + indicate double/triple... digit number.
(,[a-z_A-Z0-9]+=\d+) => This indicate repetition unit and * indicate this
unit can present multiple time or zero time.
$ => indicate end of line.

I am not good at regex but hope this might help someone.

Thanks,
Rohit

[ovirt-users] VM IPsec network performance

2019-06-27 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I have enable multi-queue feature on nic card and I am getting normal
throughput as 26 Gbps.
But when I am trying throughput test with IPsec I am getting only max
1.5Gbps. After looking at CPU usages, it is free more than 50%, I am not
getting why low throughput in ipsec case.

Below are my trial:
2nd, I tried to distribute multi-queue interrupt on mult-cpu but got same
result.
3rd, I tried nic passthrough and enable RSS, I got good throughput and CPU
usages.

Please help me to understand how to increase vnet performance for VM. And
also suggest me about ovirt setting.
I have also seen some presentation in google around virtio-crypto but as I
am using Guest and Host OS as centos 7.3, I can't use virtio-crypto device.

I tried looking into rng direction and I found below stats.
I am not familiar with rng device but it look to me /dev/urandom giving me
better option.
But I am unaware how can I use urandom device in ovirt.

2017-06-30 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Your understanding is correct issue only due to encryption/decryption
process but not got idea why not word.
I found that in centos 7 we not have install rng-tools.

Do it required to install for random generator ?

I have changes nothing I just increase number of queues in vnet. It
diffenetly increase throughput and create multiple softIRQs in VM.
But for normal traffic this all things are not required it gives 10G
throughput.

Thanks,
~Rohit

2017-06-30 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi Yaniv,

I have enabled random generator in cluster and also in VM.
But still not see any improvement in throughput.

lsmod | grep -i virtio
virtio_rng 13019  0
virtio_balloon 13834  0
virtio_console 28115  2
virtio_blk 18156  4
virtio_scsi18361  0
virtio_net 28024  0
virtio_pci 22913  0
virtio_ring21524  7
virtio_blk,virtio_net,virtio_pci,virtio_rng,virtio_balloon,virtio_console,virtio_scsi
virtio 15008  7
virtio_blk,virtio_net,virtio_pci,virtio_rng,virtio_balloon,virtio_console,virtio_scsi

Would please check do I missing some virtio module ?

One more finding, if I set queue property in vnic profile then I got good
throughput.

Thanks,

Hi,

To increase network throughput we have changed txqueuelen of network device
and bridge manually. And observed improved throughput.

But in ovirt I not see any option to increase txqueuelen.
Can someone suggest me what will be the right way to increase throughput ?

Note: I am trying to increase throughput for ipsec packets.

[ovirt-users] [GlusterFS] Regarding gluster backup-volfile-servers option

2017-05-17 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

Before trying out, I want to understand how glusterfs will react for below
scenario.
Please help me.

Let consider I have two host hostA and hostB
I have setup replica volume on hostA and hostB. (consider as storage domain
for DATA in ovirt).
I have configure data domain mount command with backup server option
(backup-volfile-server) as hostB (I mean main server as hostA and backup as
hostB)

1> As I understood, VDSM execute mount command on both hostA and hostB.(for
creating data domain)
2> That mean, HostB glusterFS CLIENT will communicate with main server
(hostA).
(Please correct me if I am wrong here.)
3> Let say HostA got down (say shutdown, power off scenario)
4> Due to backup option I will have data domain available on HostB.
(Now glusterFS CLIENT on HostB will start communicating with HostB
GlusterFS SERVER).
5> Now let say HostA comes up.
6> Will it sync all data from HostB to HostA glusterFS server ?
(as per doc, yes, i not tried yet, want to confirm my understanding)
7> Will glusterFS CLIENT on HostB start communicate with main server
(HostA) ?

Please let me know, I am new to glusterFS.

Thanks,
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] [Ovirt 4.0] HA VM fail to start on another Host.

2017-04-25 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

This is regarding HA VM fail to restart on other host.

I have setup, which has 2 host in a cluster let say host1 and host2.
And one HA VM (with High priority), say vm1.
And also not storage domain is configure on host3 and it available all time.

1> Initially vm1 was running on host2.
2> Then I power OFF host2 to see whether ovirt start vm1 on host1.

I found two result in this case as below:
1> Sometime vm1 retrying to start but retrying on host2 itself.
2> Sometime vm1 move in down state without retrying.

Can anyone explain about this behaviour ? Or Is this an issue ?

Note : I am using Ovirt 4.0.

Thanks,
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] [Python-SDK][Ovirt-4.0] Create VM on specific Host.

2017-04-19 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I was trying to create VM on specific HOST using python sdk as shown below.

-- Code ---
vm = vms_service.add(
host = types.Host(
name = "host-01",
),
  )
-- End Code ---

It created VM successfully, but when I see in ovirt GUI I saw that VM is
not bonded with specific host.

Ovirt GUI:
Virtual Machines -> click on VM -> "Edit" button -> In advance menu ->
"Host" tab
Start Running On:
   o Any Host in Cluster <== This option got selected
   o Specific Host(s) <== *I want this option to select.*

Please help me to bind VM to specific Host via Python SDK

[ovirt-users] [Ovirt 4.0 Python SDK] Host fail to move in Maintenance State

2017-04-07 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I was trying to deactivate host via python SDK but found that host is not
moving in Maintenance State.

In this scenario, I found that I have one additional network added in
cluster but not setup on Host.
Hence it retrying in background for network sync.
Because of this I suspect host is fail to move in maintenance state.

Can someone help me how to force via python API to deactivate host ?
Or
Can I stop background sync of host ?

network configuration as template and then on new machine that tool will
execute template and it setup ovirt engine.

Please let me know if such tool is available in ovirt.

I wan to set priority as "HIGH", which integer value I have to set in
priority ?
I tried with 1 and 3 it shows "LOW" in both cases.

Re: [ovirt-users] How to configure Cloud-init in Guest OS ?

2017-03-16 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I am trying to create file using same API, as shown below:
--
scontent="Hello World !!"

vm_service.start(
use_cloud_init=True,
vm = types.Vm(
initialization=types.Initialization(
cloud_init=types.CloudInit(
files=[types.File(name="/root/hello.conf",
content=scontent, type="PLAINTEXT")],
),
),
),
)

Can someone help me to understand ? why it is not working.
Or Is that variable "cloud_init=" not handled in ovirt ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] how to attach lvm device to VM ?

2017-03-16 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I have created LVM partition in host.
I don't want that partition to act as storage domain in ovirt, but I want
to attach that partition to VM.

So I used virsh command to attach device to VM and it was successfully
attached (block device as raw type).
But when I tried to take snapshot of VM from Ovirt, it fail to get
snapshot.

I think it may be due to vdsm as it is not aware of newly attached lvm
device.

Can someone help me to know another way to attach device to VM in Ovirt?
I tried with vdsClient but not got idea or command that will attach device
to VM.

Thanks,

And after that I tried to call setupNetwork. With this my problem is solved.

[ovirt-users] Ovirt 4.0.6 fail to set boottype for ovirtmgmt interface

2017-01-17 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I was trying to add host in ovirt 4.0.6 using my cluster mark as OVS.
In 4.0.5, it was able to setup ovirtmgmt interface but in 4.0.6 it fail to
setup interface.

I tried debugging this and found that vdsm generated ifcfg for ovirtmgmt
not have boottype as dhcp.
And hence it fail to bring host in up state,

Here I want to know:
Q> How can I ask configure ovirt-engine or vdsm to add boottype in
ovirtmgmt interface.

In my testing I found a strange behaviour as mention below:
1> In my multiple trial I tried setting ovs property for ovirtmgmt network
and then I tried adding host.
2> I observe that VDSM was able to add ovirtmgmt in OVS but this behaviour
I observed only once.
Q> Please, can someone help me to understand this OVS behaviour, it will
help me to setup everything on OVS? OR
[ In other word, How to setup ovirtmgmt interface on host on OVS bridge ? ]

Thanks Ondra that link is useful,
Do you have any Idea why VDSM disable balloon concept for RHEV and use for
all non-RHEV ?

Please refer to below link.
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/sla/memory-balloon/

*"Currently the balloon memory device is being created by default by
libvirt for non RHEV environments, and VDSM disables it by default for
RHEV."*
Is there different technique use by RHEV ? Please provide me link for it
detail.
It will help me to compare ovirt and RHEV

Re: [ovirt-users] Cannot create VM with custom memory amount

2017-01-10 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Thanks for your help Ondra,

Now I able to allocate 300MB memory for VM.

But I observe some different behaviour than mention in your mail, let me
explain.

Let consider, parameter memory value is M.
And parameter for guaranteed memory value is G

Case 1> M < G => Fail to create VM got same error.
Case 2> M = G => VM created successfully.
Case 3> M > G => VM created successfully.

On GUI, in general tab it show guaranteed memory as "Physical Memory
Guaranteed" and memory parameter is shown as "Defined Memory".
Meaning of those two parameter look to me,
1> guaranteed value mean like as minimum requirement to run VM and
2> memory value is like if available would be better.

Would you please provide input on same ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

Re: [ovirt-users] Cannot create VM with custom memory amount

Hi,

I was also getting same issue.
And found that it work only for 1024 MB memory size. It may be due to
"Blank" template value, not sure.

Please someone help us to figure out this problem.

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] [Ansible - Ovirt] How to specifiy ovs properties ?

2017-01-04 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I want to setup a logcal ovs network in ovirt.
And to do the same I want to use ansible tool.

Hence I tried looking into ansible document and found below link.
https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/ovirt_networks_module.html

But question is how to configure propert "ovs = 1" in ansible.
It may be via nested_attributes but not sure how to do so.
Please let me know.

[ovirt-users] [Storage Domain] [NFS] How to specify size ?

2017-01-04 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I have created nfs storage domain and even imported in ovirt engine using
below link.
http://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/troubleshooting/troubleshooting-nfs-storage-issues/

But I found that ovirt have created only 50 GB storage domain.
I need this data domain size as 100 GB.
How can I configure size parameter in ovirt ?

Re: [ovirt-users] Issue with OVN/OVS and mandatory ovirtmgmt network

2016-12-28 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi All,

I am also facing same issue (unable to change ovirtmgmt to OVS type).

On git repository, I saw some commit in which added support to switch
network type in host. but there is red cross across those changes.
Would I get to know will this issue get solve in 4.1 release ?

I tried modifying ifcfg-ovirtmgmt and ifcfg-eth0 file to support OVS and
then rebooted m/c.
When m/c got bootup I found that configuration made in ifcfg got
overwritten by vdsm.
Is their any workaround ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] libvirtd network xml via ovirt

2016-12-26 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

To define network in libvirtd I had created network xml and added using
below command.
virsh net-define
I was using this xml to group port for particular vlan-id.

Is their any way in Ovirt to do similar job ? or
Do I need to add each vm interface separately ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

Re: [ovirt-users] How to setup OVS using python SDK ?

2016-12-26 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I found a way to update property in setup network as shown below

# Get the reference to the hosts service:
hosts_service = connection.system_service().hosts_service()
myhost = hosts_service.list(search='name=myhost')[0]

myhost_service = hosts_service.host_service(myhost.id)
mynet_attached_services = myhost_service.network_attachments_service()

for mynet_attachment in mynet_attached_services.list():
if mynet_attachment.network.name == "mynet":
print "Found : %s"%(mynet_attachment.network.name)
mynet_attached_services.attachment_service(mynet_attachment.id).update(
attachment=types.NetworkAttachment( properties=[types.Property("ovs","1")]
) )
else:
print "Not Found : %s"%(mynet_attachment.network.name)

Please find below ovs output.
# ovs-vsctl show
Bridge "vdsmbr_tJ9jxY5o"
Port "em2"
Interface "em2"
Port "vdsmbr_tJ9jxY5o"
Interface "vdsmbr_tJ9jxY5o"
type: internal
Port mynet
Interface mynet
type: internal
ovs_version: "2.4.0"

But ovirt is showing me "out-of-sync" message.

*Can someone explain me why it shown as out-of-sync ?*
*How ovirt determine sync on logical network ?*

Thanks,
~Rohit

Re: [ovirt-users] How to setup OVS using python SDK ?

2016-12-26 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

Thanks for providing script it is working fine.

But it not complete, would you help me to complete step 2 ?

https://www.ovirt.org/networking/ovs/
Setup network

In the oVirt UI open the 'Setup Host Networks' dialog. Proceed to editing a
desired logical network's properties. Among them you will find 'ovs', set
it to 'true' or '1' to mark is as a OVS Network.

And have one doubt.

Why we have to set ovs property two time ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

[ovirt-users] Regarding fencing support in ovirt

2016-12-13 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,

I was trying to explore more about fencing option supported in ovirt.
But getting lost in documents.

My requirement is to fence at VM level rather than host level.
e.g let assume VM1.1, VM1.2,VM1.3 are running on host1 and VM2.1,VM2.2
VM2.3 running on host2. Suppose due to some error only VM1.1 goes down
[Note: VM1.2 and VM1.3 in running state] then VM2.1 must come up.

Can I get to know whether such functionality is supported by ovirt ?
If yes, would you please explain also how it work
  or would you share refernece for me to refer and understand it ?
if yes, is it configurable by python sdk ?

Thanks,
~Rohit

Re: [ovirt-users] Help to setup ovirt release 40

2016-12-13 Thread TranceWorldLogic .
Hi Martin,

I am sorry, I am trying installing ovirt on my VM OS (cntos).
And here I had 2 VMs Centos 7 and 6. And I had played around some
configuration in both VM and hence it was failing.
I forgot what I had executed in that VM.

Anyway, after fresh installation. I am able to setup ovirt-engine.

Thanks for your help and sorry for wrong trial.
~Rohit

On centos 7 I need not to execute those right ?
