[ovirt-users] WHERE IS engine-manage-domain CONFIGURE FILE

2015-06-01 Thread Xie, Chao
HI ,ALL
 engine-iso-uploader/engine-image-uploader both has the configure file
(default is /etc/ovirt-engine/isouploader.conf and imageuploader.conf)

In the configure file we can edit the command parameter in it and can save lots
of time.

But engine-manage-domain didn’t have the configure file, althought it also has
“―config-file” parameter. So where is the config-file for engine-manage-domain?

Hi Artyom,

The problems were caused by an issue with MTU on the hosts. I have rectified
the issue and can now migrate hosts.

Jason.

[ovirt-users] How to Config Openvswitch in Hosted-Engine environment(ALL IN ONE) when using Neutron?

2015-03-29 Thread Xie, Chao
HI, ALL
As you may know, we can use neutron service in oVirt. And in a normal oVirt
environment, When adding a Host, Openswitch and RabbitMQ and so on (Set Network
provider in "New Hosts" window in Admin Portal) will be configure automatically
in the host.
But in an HE environment, we do not add host in Admin Portal(but "hosted-engine
--deploy" command ), and i think host will not be configure automatically. So
anybody know how to use it (neutron from all in one OSP )?

[ovirt-users] 答复: bonding 802.3ad mode

Yeah, Alex is right. And if you want to double the network’s speed in single
flow, the mode 0 is only choice. But mode 0 seems not be supported in oVirt?

The balancing on 802.3ad only occurs for different network flows based on a
hash of source and destination MAC (or can be made to add IP addresses into the
calculation). A single flow will only use a single NIC in ad mode.

have this alert:
"Host siple has network interface which exceeded the defined threshold [95%]

It seems that the second nic never works while the first one is overloaded.
Is it an expected behaviour? I believed that the flow was balanced between the
two interfaces in 802.3ad mode.

[ovirt-users] 答复: FAILED! Using engine-image-uploader to Upload OVF to Export Domain

Hi, Sandro
Thanks for replying~ I download the virt-v2v and test it . But it
directly wirte others' OVF file to RHEV , so the engine-image-uploader is not
useful.
How can I use virt-v2v to convert others' OVF to oVirt's OVF without writing it
to Export Domain?

Hi, you need to use v2v for converting the OVF from other virtualization
systems to oVirt / RHEV OVF format.
The format exported by VirtualBox is not compatible wiht oVirt.

 IMO, if your uploader file is 150M. the first 100m is send as full

I use my own usbfilter.txt to replace the

Then the vm can detect my usb device in the host ~

Now the modem is well detected in my Windows 2008 VM.

Yes I made this :
engine-config -s "UserDefinedVMProperties=hostusb=0x0572:0x1321"
and nothing appear on the Edit VM, only :
- sndbuf
- vhost
- sap_agent
- viodiskattach

Is there any possibility to verify ?
The first command I put engine-config -s
"UserDefinedVMProperties=hostusb=true;another_property=regexp" following the
doc, maybe this option is blocking the hook ?

I’m looking to setup bonding. I’m using Dell 2824 switches which support LAG
(static 802.3ad apparently?) but not LACP (dynamic 802.3ad). Fedora only seems
to support Dynamic mode from what I can tell.

The next best choice seems to be balance-alb, but for some reason it’s not
available as a mode in the drop down. Any reason why it’s missing? If I
select custom and enter balance-alb, is that supported?

Hi Xie,

Yes, that's exactly what it means, and you indeed need to create a VLAN device
manually and then choose it in the interactive script. CCing Sandro to assist
with how this is most easily done.

Yours, Lior.

Does anybody know how to use VLAN in Hosted Engine 3.5 as new
feature?(According to the http://www.ovirt.org/OVirt_3.5_Release_Notes, VLAN is
a new function in Hosted Engine 3.5)

Hello Xie,

This is what leads me to believe that your DHCP server (which is in charge of
allocating IP addresses) only receives non-tagged traffic. Is it possible you
need to configure other ports to pass the VLAN-tagged traffic?

Hi, Lior:
I configure the switch port connecting the host's NIC which hold the
"testvlan" logical network. I try the NIC hold normal logical network ,VM using
the logical network worked well. But if I hold the VLAN logical network, the VM
using it didn't get IP.

[ovirt-users] 答复: Engine is still unreachable

2014-11-18 Thread Xie, Chao
Hi, Chou
 It seems your rhevm is not setup successfully. I suggest you can think
about the two possible root cause below:
 1. your /etc/hosts about host/rhevm-vm is configured correctly?
 2. your password set in hosted-engine –deploy and rhevm-setup is same ?

If those are not your problem cause, Please provide more log about it.

Hi!,

I have install ovirt 3.4 on centos 6.6 following this documentation
http://community.redhat.com/blog/2014/03/up-and-running-with-ovirt-3-4/

I have already completed the installation of ovirt engine inside of the vm,
when going back to hosted-engine --deploy terminal and choosing 1 the
hosted-engine --deploy says:

(1, 2, 3)[1]: 1
[ ERROR ] Engine is still unreachable
  Engine health status page is not yet reachable.
  To continue make a selection from the options below:
  (1) Continue setup - engine installation is complete
  (2) Power off and restart the VM
  (3) Abort setup

what should I do? how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,all
 Recently I test the VLAN and have some problems. I configure the
Logical network “testvlan” with “VLAN tagged” and assigned it to hosts’ NIC.
Then I create a VM using “testvlan” and found the vm can’t get IP . Does
anyone have some ideas about VLAN?
 p.s. I already configure the switch port as TRUNK mode and the vlan id
is 1 (default value).

[ovirt-users] 答复: An error occurring in the OVirt_Engine_Development_Environment

2014-09-14 Thread Xie, Chao
Hi,all
 I found the root cause of error: I upload the file from windows
environment and should use dos2unix to format the file!

Hi,all
 I tried to bulid a OVirt_Engine_Development_Environment following the
http://wiki.ovirt.org/OVirt_Engine_Development_Environment.
 When I prepared the source code and environment , I execute “make
install-dev PREFIX="$HOME/ovirt-engine" and an error was prompted as below.

if [ "1" != 0 ]; then \
   build/shell-check.sh && \
   build/python-check.sh && \

I check the “packaging/bin/pki-common.sh” and find it seems well (the
attendment). Does anybody have the same problem?

[ovirt-users] 答复: How to backup/restore the rhevm-VM in hosted-engine ?

2014-09-05 Thread Xie, Chao
Hi, Ryan
 Thanks for replying. I know your meaning and engine-backup command.
But I have some questions with your way: “If the hosted-engine needs to be
restored for some reason I will just recreate the OS and restore the engine
database”.
Do you recreate the Guest using original host? And the host needn’t to be
fresh installed and just excute hosted-engine Cdeployed again, we can
recreate another OS?

In 3.4 there is a backup/restore utility called engine-backup. You can use
this to backup the RHEV-M database(s) as well as restore. Of course this won’t
backup the Guest OS itself.
My DR strategy is to simply copy off these engine-backup files to another
location. If the hosted-engine needs to be restored for some reason I will
just recreate the OS and restore the engine database.

Check this link for documentation:

Subject: [ovirt-users] How to backup/restore the rhevm-VM in hosted-engine ?

Hi,All
 As the mauual, I can’t find anyway to backup/restore the rhevm-VM in
the hosted-engine. The I just try to backup the storage of rhevm-VM (using cp
Cprf to make a copy of folder). Then I make some change and replace the
origin RHEVM-VM content with my backup folder (of course I shutdown the
rhevm-vm first). At last the vm can be up,but the status is NOT health but as
below:

Status up-to-date  : False
Hostname   : 193.168.195.248
Host ID: 1
Engine status  : unknown stale-data
Score  : 2400
Local maintenance  : False
Host timestamp : 1409743461
Extra metadata (valid at timestamp):
 metadata_parse_version=1
 metadata_feature_version=1
 timestamp=1409743461 (Wed Sep  3 07:24:21 2014)
 host-id=1
 score=2400
 maintenance=False
 state=EngineUp

=

So are there some proper way to backup the rhevm-vm?
