[ovirt-users] user portal

2021-03-05 Thread Enrico Becchetti

 Dear all,
I'm using ovirt 4.3.2 with its engine on a virtual machine. The nodes
are all Centos 7.7.

Both engine and hypervisor systems work on a 10.0.0.0 private network.
Now I would like to let users access the ovirt web page (user portal)
and for this
I must necessarily add a second network interface to the engine by
inserting a public ip. I can't use NAT.

Can you give me any advice for this operation ?
Can I add the network interface and then run engine-setup ?
Will oVirt be accessible from both ip addresses at the end of this
operation ?

Lots of thanks.
Enrico

[ovirt-users] User portal and DNS entries removal

2020-11-21 Thread Nathanaël Blanchet
Hello,We project to use User portal to give more autonomy to users for creating VMs. Creation, modifications are easy et friendship, and network is dealt with external dhcp/ddns. But when deleting a VM, DNS leases with a long TTL still remains and it is not possible to access a new VM that is named as same as the precedent one. I wrote a playbook that erases all related DNS entries and I'm used to run it with AWX for other cases. Is there a way to integrate this playbook into User portal to be run when deleting a VM so as the DNS database to be still clean?___

Re: [ovirt-users] User portal permissions

2018-05-02 Thread Staniforth, Paul
Hello Kristian,

I haven't upgraded to 4.2 yet but in 4.1

I create a Directory services group and add the user to it

Then I give the user roles

VmCreator

DiskProfileUser

VnicProfileUser

These can be added to a DC, storage domain, cluster, etc.

The VnicProfileUser means that you can restrict networks and impose QOS,
Network Filters,etc.

We then add UserTemplateBasedVm permission to give them access to specific
templates.

For users we allow to create templates we add TemplateCreator permission to
their group.

These are all user permissions so they can't login to the admin portal.

 Paul S.

Re: [ovirt-users] User portal permissions

2018-05-02 Thread Michael Mortensen (MCMR)
Hi Kristian,

As far as I’ve experienced myself, too, they would need one or more admin
roles/permissions. The permissions can however be quite freely distributed to
the user, and since you can create a custom role, too, it should be possible to
stitch together a rather limited admin-role.
Regular non-admin privileges supposedly only gives access to the VM Portal and
not actually the Administration Portal (in which you could do all of this).

All the best,
Mike

How to give a way for a user to create and manage VMs within a quota? Which

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jeff

Roles determine two things:
1. What the user can see
2. What the user can do

It is important to know on who is the user, what is the role (UserRole? as you
also mentioned SuperUser?) and on what object(s) was the role granted on.
Assuming it is UserRole, on a specific user, then:
If on a VM, then the user can see/operate on this VM.
If on a Cluster, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in this cluster.
If on a DC, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in clusters that are
part of this DC.
If on System, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in the system.

So the hierarchy is System--DC--Cluster--VM.
I hope this clarifies you question.

Hi Maurice,

What do you mean by I cannot even type my user name and password?

are the user-name / password fields disabled?
are you seeing a blank page instead of the user-portal login page?
what version did you upgrade from?

please note that the web-admin and user-portal URLs in ovirt-3.4
are different than the ones in ovirt-3.3. Have you tried
accessing the user portal from the welcome page (attached
screen-shot)?

Thanks,
Einav

Re: [Users] User portal

2014-02-11 Thread Einav Cohen
Maurice, I assume that you are not working with development environment [1],
but with a regularly installed/deployed system. If you happen to work with
development environment, you can simply build the latest ovirt-engine from
either 'master' or from 'ovirt-engine-3.4' and you will have a fixed env,
since the fix [2] was already merged yesterday to 'master' and
'ovirt-engine-3.4'.

but assuming you are working with a regularly installed/deployed system:

again - since the fix was merged yesterday, a fixed ovirt-engine should be
available in the nightly repo [3], or will be available there in the next
couple of days.

you can also wait until the next release of the ovirt-3.4 build (as far as
I can see, the next ovirt-3.4 build that will be released is the RC Build
currently planned for 2014-02-17, according to [4]).

HTH.

Einav

Re: [Users] User portal

2014-02-09 Thread Einav Cohen
the only change that I can see that we did recently in the login page is [1],
but IIUC it was done to both web-admin and user-portal.

another difference between web-admin and user-portal is MOTD [2] but it has
been there since ovirt 3.3 IIRC and I assume it worked fine for you then (or
afterwards).

which version did you upgrade from?
which browser are you using?
can you please test other browsers to see the behavior there?

Thanks,
Einav

Hi,

If you login with PowerUser permission you have 2 tabs (Basic and

PowerUserPortal.
So you can switch between these 2 views.

Btw, in RHEV (3.0 and 3.1) I see a (for me) strange behaviour and
haven't tested if this is the same in oVirt.
When installing RHEV a Default datacenter is created and everyone has
permission on template blank. As long as I don't remove permissions on
blank template user with role UserRole start in PowerUserPortal
(Extended view) instead of UserPortal (Basic view) - without permission
on template blank they can't switch between these 2 views/portals
(which is the expected situation - users with UserPortal permission
shouldn't be aware of the PowerUserPortal).
Is this bug or intended?

René

i believe a bug, would appreciate if you can test on latest 3.3 nightly.

I'll try it with 3.3 nightly and will let you know.
Can I virtualize an oVirt 3.3 hypervisor on an oVirt 3.2 host based on
CentOS 6.4 (does RHEL 6.4/CentOS 6.4 support nested KVM or do I have to
use Fedora 18?) as I'm short with hardware at the moment?

if you want to run real VMs, you need nested virt, which means fedora.
if you only wnat to test, you can use virtual hosts with fake vms

Yes, I meant that admin is not authorized to run any VM.
