Yes, I plan to update it. I already updated them on another VM with Win 7.
In the past I had problems with virtio on Windows XP, especially the
network part.
So my answer was only to give an example of a working virtio disk+net
combination for Win XP.
I'll let you know how it goes with latest spice-guest-tools

 Many thanks,
infact during creation of windows vm I have chosen the windows option in
 vm wizard.
I cannot guess that the wizard made a strange choice using virtio drivers
when for windows is best to use ide and rtl.

The choice is not strange given:
1) availability of virtual floppy with virtio drivers
2) dreadful performance of emulated devices compared to virtio ones

The minor annoyance during installation (need to attach a floppy and do
F6/Load Drivers) really pays off.

Anyway with spice display mouse is unusable so I must use vnc (with windows
 7 mouse works)

Like I said, Windows XP kept crashing a lot (reproducible crash on
shutdown and more random crashes during normal operation) with the
VirtIO drivers. I'm not sure if it was network or disk, but it didn't
work well, that's for sure. With the IDE/RTL8139 combination, XP has
been running stable for a few weeks now.

Regards,
Martijn.

I have an oVirt 3.2.3 all-in-one environment based on fedora 18 and
oVirt stable repo where I have a windows xp sp3 VM running fine with
spice console.
I think I installed spice-guest-tools-0.3.exe
In device manager the red hat QXL GPU driver is marked as:
5.1.0.10016
15/10/2012

VirtIO scsi driver is
51.64.104.5200
22/01/2013

VirtIO network driver is
51.64.104.4900
29/11/2012

Only limit seems network card that takes a little (1-2 minutes) to
initialize, but I saw the same in the past for physical hw.
I see that this link still works:
http://spice-space.org/download/binaries/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-0.3.exe

You can try it.

 Search for virtio-win, I think.

[Users] virt-io drivers for windows xp

2013-10-12 Thread Mario Giammarco
Hello,
I am testing ovirt and now I have tried to install a windows xp image.

I used standard options but:

- with spice display mouse is unusable, solved using vnc;
- anyway all drivers (net, vga, others) are missing.

I have found a virt-io iso but it does not work.

Where can I find an ISO with all drivers for ovirt?

Thanks,
Mario
