of course glusterd is running since i already manage to deploy
hosted-engine on node1

I would start more simple and mount the volume via FUSE on any of the oVirt
hosts:
mount -t glusterfs :/volume /mnt
Then browse the /mnt and verify that you can read and write via vdsm user:
sudo -u vdsm touch /mnt/testfile
sudo -u vdsm mkdir /mnt/testdir
sudo -u vdsm touch /mnt/testdir/testfile
