[ovirt-users] Re: SPICE proxy behind nginx reverse proxy

By the way. Pretty recently (I don't remember the version) we added some code
to deal with some proxy timeouts.
I don't know specifically nginx reverse proxy but many firewall/proxies to
avoid DoS enable some sort of timeouts.
More or less if there's no traffic for a while they close the connections.
The code in spice make sure there is some data traffic.
Specifically the commit is cff9d951aaf1d01ac9d4bac5829ffda1f6141162
("red-channel-client: Always enable latency monitor to keep tcp connection
alive")
which is included in upstream 0.14.3 version.
This patch (and the previous preparatory one) was ported to some RHV product (I
don't remember the version)

Hi all

As per $SUBJECT, I have a SPICE proxy behind a reverse proxy which all external
VDI users are forced to use.

We've only started doing this in the last week or so but I'm not getting heaps
of reports SPICE sessions "freezing". The testing that I've done shows that a
SPICE session that is unattended for 10-15 minutes hangs or freezes. By this
I mean that you can't interact with the VM (using SPICE) via mouse or Keyboard.
Restarting the SPICE session fixes the problem.

Is anyone else doing this? If so, have you noticed the SPICE session freezes?

Thanks in advance
