[ovirt-users] Hosted Engine Deploy - Error at the end... [NFS ?]

2019-07-03 Thread csi-laser
Hi,
While Trying to Deploy Hosted Engine, I'm stuck on Stage 4. Here is the error :

[ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Fetch Datacenter name]
[ INFO ] ok: [localhost]
[ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Add NFS storage domain]
[ ERROR ] Verify permission settings on the specified storage path.]". HTTP
response code is 400.
[ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Fault
reason is \"Operation Failed\". Fault detail is \"[Permission settings on the
specified path do not allow access to the storage.\nVerify permission settings
on the specified storage path.]\". HTTP response code is 400."}

But, it's very strange, because, when I'm trying to mount this NFS share
manually, It's working
So what am I doing wrong here ?

Here is the "Storage Connection" - 8.45.119.16:/ovirt_engine
Mount option is blanked
NFS Version is "v3"

Thanks in advance !

I fear that the time zone change in the middle of the deployment could make
the DHCP lease invalid.
Did it work if you simply set the right time zone before starting the
deployment?

Hi,
according to the error it seams that the playbook wasn't able to fetch the
IP address got by the local VM on the default libvirt natted network but
it's pretty strange since it shouldn't reach that stage in that case.

Re: [ovirt-users] hosted-engine deploy error

2018-04-04 Thread Martin Sivak
Hi,

the hostname is invalid for hosted engine because it is set to
localhost.localdomain.

Check the shell prompt, do you see the localhost there?
[root@localhost ~]# hosted-engine --deploy

You can change the hostname by using many different tools, check
https://fedoramagazine.org/set-hostname-fedora/ for examples. Most of
them (if not all) should be valid for CentOS as well.

The hostname you set must be resolvable to IP and that IP has to point
back to the host you are on.

Best regards

Martin Sivak

The error is here: please set a valid hostname for your host: the engine VM
should be able to reach it.
If you add the host as localhost the engine VM will reach itself and it's
not what we want.

If you don'y have a working DNS system, hosted-engine-setup will ask about
injecting an entry for you under /etc/hosts on the engine VM but you still
need a valid hostname.

I have good news. With the IOProcess connection, I was suspecting maybe it
would be something with the system (BIOS related).
The Dell PE R730 was at BIOS version 2.2.5 and there was an update in April to
version 2.4.3 (with another inbetween these two). There were a couple of fixes
between the version the server had and the latest, which had me wondering if
they may be related to the IOProcess issue I was experiencing.
After applying this update the Hosted Engine deployment went further.
It could explain why I could not add this host in a previous installation.

I’ll start another thread for this next bump I’m running into, unless I can
figure it out. Has to do with the VDSM host. Engine says it cannot communicate
with this host its running on. So, the setup timed out waiting for the VDSM
host to start.

Sahina?

The two dedicated GlusterFS storage servers are AMD Opteron. And the third
server for the replica 3, which I am hoping I can also use as an oVirt host is
a new Intel Xeon (Dell PE R830). I know GlusterFS allows for mixed hardware,
but I’m not sure about when oVirt manages GlusterFS, if mixed hardware and
mixed use has been accounted for?

between the version the server had and the latest, which had me wondering if
they may be related to the IOProcess issue I was experiencing.

The two dedicated GlusterFS storage servers are AMD Opteron. And the third
server for the replica 3, which I am hoping I can also use as an oVirt host is
a new Intel Xeon (Dell PE R830). I know GlusterFS allows for mixed hardware,

mixed use has been accounted for?

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted-Engine Deploy - Error Creating a Storage Domain

2017-05-31 Thread Langley, Robert
Not sure if you received my SOSReport (mail system told me the file is too
big). Here is a cropped version of the VDSM.log file. I deleted the tail end of
it, and some of the beginning, in order to focus on when the deployment was
happening and shrink the size of the file below 9 MB.
So, if you go to the end of the file, that is where the error is. “[Errno 2] No
such file or directory' - code 100” and it is happening on several files.
Something is apparently missing.

Thank you,
Robert

Re: [ovirt-users] hosted-engine deploy error terminal state

Please provide more details about what you are trying to do.

It seems like you already have an engine. Can't tell if it's a hosted
engine or not. Is it?

It seems like the host you are trying to deploy is/was already managed
by your engine. Is it?

Generally speaking, we do not allow "converting" an engine to a hosted
engine nor doing 'hosted-engine --deploy' on a host already managed by
the/an engine. For the former, please check [1]. For the latter, you
should first remove the host from the engine. [1] is very old, and some
details are different today, but the principles remain. I recommend
trying this first on an isolated test env before doing on production.

BTW, the above does not explain your failure. Your specific failure is:

To me it seems like 'hosted-engine --deploy' managed to connect to the
engine (not sure which, existing or one created in new hosted-engine vm)
but fails to get the list of clusters, probably because the engine fails
to connect to one or more hosts. Can't see that in the attached engine.log
btw - either it's from the wrong machine, or wrong time/timezone, something
like that.
