[ovirt-users] Import VM via KVM. Can't see vm's.

2022-12-02 Thread piotret
Hi
I am trying to migrate vm's from oVirt 4.3.10.4-1.el7 to oVirt 4.5.3.2-1.el8.
I use Provider KVM (via libvirt)
My problem is that I can't see vm's from old oVirt when they are shutdown.
When they are running I see but can't import because "All chosen VMs are
running in the external system and therefore have been filtered. Please see log
for details."
Thank you for help.

[ovirt-users] import vm from iscsi storage domain fails with "Cannot import VM. Invalid time zone for given OS type. Attribute: vm.vmStatic"

2021-12-14 Thread timo . veith
Dear ovirt users,
we are running RHV 4.4.8.6-0.1.el8ev on the manager and Red Hat Virtualization
Host 4.4.6 (el8.4) on the hypervisors. Normally I would open a case at Red Hat
but our subscriptions expired. We are currently in the process of purchasing
new ones but this problem is really urgent so I thought I'd give it a try here.
Sorry for that if its misplaced.
We have a problem importing some VMs from a iscsi storage domain. We had an
outage of the iscsi san volume but managed to recover the data and bring them
back online. We imported the volume into a new data center and were able to
import most of the vms which were on that volume. But now there are still some
importand ones left and we do get the upper mentioned error.
I searched the web and found a solution which proposes to alter the "operating
system type" in the import dialog and change it to "linux". Oh, while writing
"linux" I forgot to mention all of the problematic vms are windows ones. But
the import dialog doesn't let me change the operation system type. I can only
change the name.
I found another solution here in the archive of this mailing list. Its pretty
new I think. Topic was "How to re-import a VM with an invalid timezone?" in
August. The solution was to add the missing timezone in a file
(https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/packaging/conf/timezones-defaults.properties#L18-L22)
on the manager and restart ovirt-engine. I would love to try that but I really
don't know what to put there. I can't open an ova file because the vm is on the
iscsi domain in some lvs or metadata or .. I don't know where RHV reads that
from.

Hope I am not missing some important info. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Timo

[ovirt-users] Import VM with Xen Based in Ovirt

2021-04-22 Thread hemaa--- via Users
Hi All,

I am trying to migrate a VM from a Xen Based virtualization to Ovirt with the
import option in GUI
But I am not able to list any stopped VMs on the Xen host. So what I did is I
started the VM and got it listed. Then selected the VM and moved to right hand
section. Clicked on next button. But then it gave an error

"All chosen VMs couldn't be retrieved by the external system and therefore have
been filtered. Please see log for details."

When I check the libvirt logs in xen hypervisor I see error as below. There is
no other errors in engine logs or vdsm logs
2021-04-22 08:52:36.796+: 30219: error : do_connect:116 : internal error:
failed to connect to xend
2021-04-22 08:52:36.830+: 30219: error : virNodeSuspendSupportsTarget:332 :
internal error: Cannot probe for supported suspend types
2021-04-22 08:52:36.830+: 30219: warning :

this function is not supported by the connection driver:

This is the same error I got when I tried importing a running VM as well. Any
idea on what could be a possible reason behind this?

[ovirt-users] Import VM from export domain using oVirt-4.4

2020-06-03 Thread Joop
Hi All,

I'm testing a shiny new oVirt-4.4.02, selfhosted engine HCI gluster, and
found a problem when importing my VMs from an export domain.
Import is OK but can't start the VM due to the fact that the BIOS is set
to Legacy. Manually setting the BIOS type to Cluster Default, through VM
properties, will let the VM start.
I couldn't find anything about it in the ReleaseNotes

As a side note: using gluster still doesn't install
gluster-ansible-roles and glusterfs-server and vdsm-gluster or checks
for its existance. See also another user who reported problems due to
the latter not being installed, had the same experience.

Regards,

Joop

[ovirt-users] Import VM from ovirt-exported ova

2019-06-21 Thread david . paning
Hello,

i installed a new oVirt 4.3.4 from scratch and am attempting to restore the VMs
which ran perfectly fine on my last oVirt 4.2.8, where i exported the VM to the
export domain and also as an OVA file.
Importing the export domain fails, which i plan to debug later.
But importing the OVA file via the Administration Portal also fails with

Error ID: 1153
Message: Failed to import the VM to Data Center, Cluster.

The VM name is still recognised by the import routine, which tells me the file
is readable...

Now my questions:
Is there any option to try the same from CLI, hoping to get better clues for
what is going on?
Are there specific log options which could give some clues?
Would it be better in general to import the VM from an export-storage domain
instead of using a OVA export?

Any hint would highly appreciated.

Best

[ovirt-users] Import VM from VMware OVA

2018-10-23 Thread Hari Prasanth Loganathan
Hi Team,

1) I exported a ovf file from VMware
2) I converted the ovf file to ova using ovftool successfully.
3) I imported the ova using the VM Import -> VMware appliance OVA ->
provided the path of the ova (copied in ovirt location)
4) VM is successfully imported into the ovirt and I see the disk is also
successfully imported

BUT the disk is stored as image disk, What is the possible way to import
the VM (as mentioned above) and store the disk as Cinder disk (currently
always it is storing as image disk type)

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Hari

Strange, the import failed twice, and it succeeded when I tried a third
time. I'll report back when I encounter this problem again. Thanks.
