thanks for your reply. I don't think the deletion is done by cron,
because of these dovecot logs. For every deleted email from trash I can
see this line:

You do not need the expire plugin.
Do you have a cron job on your dovecot server?
Something like:
/usr/bin/doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 7d
