not a straight solution but you could activate the debug logs, so every
access and every change is logged in full:
SOGoDebugRequests = YES;
SoDebugBaseURL = YES;
ImapDebugEnabled = YES;
LDAPDebugEnabled = YES;

MySQL4DebugEnabled = YES;

I tested sending e-mails to domains with a hyphens on the web interface and
over Exchange Active Sync and couldn't reproduce your problems.
Usually the MSA port (port 587) requires recipient domains to have good DNS
records. If SOGo is connecting to a SMTP server on port 587 it could be it.
