To use the portal auth, you should have to use CAS (drupal and SOGo

The second possibility is to use something like Vulture websso:
If drupal do authentication against the same ldap directory than sogo,
 vulture is that you need.
I'll not explain exactly how vulture work (there is a mailling list
for that), but vulture act as an authentication portail that push
identification on Drupal and on SOGo. So you just need to authenticate
one time and vulture do the SSO.

Thanks for your ideas and pointers. It seems integration quite possible
with acceptable effort.

I'll dig in soon.

Maybe I've expressed that wrong.

Anyway - thanks to all for your comments!

So, we had really bad things seen while using latest v2 beta with
outlook 2010 on windows.
you cannot delete folders in your inbox once theyre creating and such

so in my opinion its definately NOT ready for production environment!

iam considering using SOGo as a hosted exchange environment too but
first when its really ready

and WELL tested.
for now we stay at 1.3.11 using TB 3.1.17 + latest sogo stable
connector/integrator but there are also quite some bugs, like bad
calendar sync in TB (calendars arent synched anymore while events
already deleted in sogo and so on

now i hope there will be some better working solutions later (next
days/weeks)

but outlook is far from being ready!

No, it is in Beta state.
And Outlook users are not computer affine, which means you can't give

(Not that you should roll out beta software at all ;-)

Could you share some opinions about it?

As you have to manage another identity provider by hand for it, there is
a lot of overhead in big environments (we have roughly 14 000 users).
So we will not use OpenChange in SOGo before Kerberos authentication is
available for it.

It provides access for Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010.
There are some known bugs, but it works nice for a beta already.

From a functionality point of view it will be ripe soon.

Well it is in beta, and when running an application like this in
production, you are far better waiting for Sogo 2.0.3 or whatever; let
others do some testing in real environments first. It depends how
'stable' you need your app to be I'd give it at least a couple of

Everybody has different expectations.

SOGo is *already* an Exchange alternative - used in very (if not
extremely) large-scale environments.

When it comes to native Outlook compatibility, we have a radically
different approach. We never stated it was ready for production and
that's why we've created the SOGo v2 branch - to let people test it
quite easily (together with the ZEG/Outlook).

For those who want to offer hosted native Outlook compatibility, the
Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP) protocol will have to be added first
to the whole solution (mostly in Samba4).

[SOGo] Question about provisioning users in SOGo

2012-01-17 Thread Fabian Rodriguez
Hi,

It looks like users provisioning is done in Webwin, directly editing
LDAP (seen on the ZEG web interface):
You can browse, modify and create accounts using Webmin:

 1. Select *LDAP Server* from the Servers menu
 2. Select *Browser Database*

The documentation also mentions using an LDIF file. I used the LDAP web
admin to clone an existing user yet it won't authenticate.

As a side note, there are several small mistakes in the welcome page of
the ZEG server VM (such as browser above, should be browse). Should
I file bug reports for such small stuff or is the mailing list enough ?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

[SOGo] New here, question about email services/shared cal+addressbook in SOGo

2012-01-17 Thread Fabian Rodriguez
Hi everyone,

I am new on the list, having just been tasked to evaluate SOGo for a
small project.

I have a few questions I can't seem to find answers for in the FAQ or
installation docs. This may seem obvious but bear in mind I also need to
present this to other people.

The users I need this for already have email provisioned elsewhere. Will
their IMAP remote account be able to integrate shared contacts and
calendar from a local SOGo server ? I understand the need for the local
mail server (notifications, primarily), but I want to keep those
separate. Is it possible ?

The current setup has Outlook 2010 or 2007 as clients, will SOGo support
shared calendars and contacts *including r/w access* ?

I am reading through documentation but I have limited time to decide if
I even configure a test server - I tried ZEG but failed, I am now trying
the online demo.

Thanks in advance for any answers to the above.

You have to differentiate bugs and missing features in a beta software.
If you can't due to your lack of knowledge on the solution, refrain from

Define remote account. If it's a GMail account, for example. SOGo will
be able to pull mails over IMAP just fine. You can also likely pull the
ICS version of your calendar from GMail to SOGo. As for contacts, no.

Depends on your answer above ;-)

We will release beta4 tomorrow, which will include a new ZEG. The major
addition in beta4 since beta3 is the sharing support (including
delegation) and permissions editing support.

their IMAP remote account be able to integrate shared contacts and
calendar from a local SOGo server ?
Define remote account. If it's a GMail account, for example. SOGo
will be able to pull mails over IMAP just fine. You can also likely
pull the ICS version of your calendar from GMail to SOGo. As for
 contacts, no.

IMAP remote account = email account on ISP's server.

I didn't mean to integrate the remote CAL/adrbook (there are none in
this case), but rather the local ones provided with SOGo (instead of
Outlook's data in workstation-local .PST files).

I understand the need for the local
mail server (notifications, primarily), but I want to keep those
 separate. Is it possible ?
Depends on your answer above ;-)

My conclusion is yes - if I read this correctly, SOGo would pull IMAP
the external IMAP account locally to its own IMAP store. Where does that
configuration (for remote pull/sync) happen ? I have much to learn about
this.

The current setup has Outlook 2010 or 2007 as clients, will SOGo support
shared calendars and contacts *including r/w access* ?
We will release beta4 tomorrow, which will include a new ZEG. The
major addition in beta4 since beta3 is the sharing support (including
 delegation) and permissions editing support.

Good timing :)

I am reading through documentation but I have limited time to decide if
I even configure a test server - I tried ZEG but failed, I am now trying
 the online demo.
The ZEG should work just fine and you should stick with that for demo
purposes. Report any issues you have.

Tx., I started a separate thread for the (authentication problem) I had
in the ZEG.

Cheers,

F.

Show us a LDIF entry of that newly created user (use slapcat if you
 want to dump it).

creating the fabianr test user.

I now realize perhaps cloning the admin account wasn't the best idea. I
just lack an example of creating another user. Will play more tomorrow,
meanwhile if I am horribly mistaken I'll gladly be slapped :)

Re: [SOGo] Question about provisioning users in SOGo

2012-01-17 Thread Georg Bretschneider
Hi Fabian,

please take a look into the SOGo documentation. There is an example ldif file
shown for creating an ordinary user.
With the informations provided there you should be able to create a user using
Webmin, too.

But it looks like you are having a general problem here. Take a look into this
conversation: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.groupware.sogo.user/8325

Bye
Georg

Re: [SOGo] Why not move from Funambol to Z-Push? Many features will be obtained.

2012-01-17 Thread André Schild

Am 18.01.2012 05:45, schrieb Francisco Adote AKUESON.:

Hi sogo users and contributors,

As you know,

   1. *The Funambol SOGo Connector allows any SyncML enabled devices
to fully synchronize contacts, events and tasks with SOGo. The
connector is fast and reliable. It features :*

* Two-way synchronization support
* Contacts, events and tasks support
* vCalendar / vCard with version downgrade support
* Full SIF support

   2. *The Z-Push is an open source ActiveSync implementation. It
supports push email, and synchronization of contacts, calendar,
and tasks. It features : *

* ActiveSync Push Email, Contact, Calendar and Task
  synchronization

* Already tested on Zimbra groupware with:
  o Windows Mobile 6.5
  o Samsung Galaxy S - android 2.2.1 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and
2.3.5 (No native task sync)
  o Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch - iOS4 iOS5
o - Task sync with iOS5 Reminders (no iOS4 native Task sync)
  o Nokia E71 (MailForExchange 3.00.50 3.00.73)

* Already tested on Zarafa:
o please, check document added, Zarafa Mobile compatibility

*

*And then, this morning i would like to suggest, according to
these interesting features we can have using Z-Push on our SOGo
solutions, to write code for a backend for Z-Push to work with
SOGo for email, contacts, agenda and notes and to move a little by
little from Funambol to Z-Push?
*

*

Really, using Z-Push, I think that It will permit to us, SOGo users to
have a strong and efficient groupware.
So, please, everybody, compare in your side, advantages we will have
to use *Z-Push* instead of Funambol and we will discuss together about
them.

I don't see why we should drop SyncML support, it's working after all
and a OPEN standard...
The Problem with Activesync stuff is always the potential license
question, what if MS will start claim license violations by Z-Push
(Justified or not does not matter) ?

There already exists a sogo backend for Z-Push, a few posts ago is a
link for download.

I will try to make it better available, so we can work on improving it.

The one big advantage I see of ActiveSync is, that you have only one
setup to do for Email,Calendar,Contacts and Tasks and all traffic flows
via HTTP(S)

There are several disadvantages of ActiveSync compared to native
Cardav/Caldav support:

- Only ONE Calendar, Contacts and Tasks can be synched
- Only one ActiveSync account is possible
- Mail handling is very limited

Hi,
I have

The install of Sogo
seems to be fine, the server starts up and the installation
of Mysql with regards to sogo seems to be successful, as I
have a database with three tables: sogo_folder_info,
sogo_sessions_folder and sogo_user_profile.

Im trying to add the
Admin user and a regular user, and Im stuck. There doesnt
seem to be a sogo_view table, which seems to be logical
given the other DB options added and their corresponding
tables in the DB. Also, the other tables dont have enough
fields to make me think theyre relevant for adding users.
The documentation shows how to add users using LDAP, but
nothing on SQL.

How do I do this? Is
there something Im missing? Thanks..

Bien
cordialement,
