[SOGo] Misunderstanding SOGo

2013-07-01 Thread Odhiambo Washington
I have installed SOGo on one of the many FreeBSD boxes that I manage and I
am kinda failing to understand something when it comes to Multi-domains
setup.

Here are my clueless moments:

First, my config is availavle here - http://goo.gl/lpKZk

This is a virtual domains setup, with MySQL. Users authenticate with
username@domain as userid, with their password.

The following parameters confuse the hell out of me:

SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID = YES;
SOGoDomainsVisibility = ((domain1,domain2));
SOGoLoginDomains = (domain1,domain1);

(a) Since my users already login with full e-mail address as c_uid, I
suppose SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID is not applicable in my case, right??

(b) SOGoLoginDomains - this gives me a dropdownlist from the login page,
but then I cannot just enter username (without the @domain), as
authentication fails. Is this parameter expected to concat username and
@domain selected from the dropdownlist, or where am I going wrong?

(c) SOGoDomainsVisibility Parameter used to set domains visible among
themselves. For what purpose is this visibility?

When defining specific domains, can I use a shortname to introduce the
domain, much like a placeholder, then define the full domain name in
SOGoMailDomain, like below, or must I use FQDN everywhere?

domains = {
crownkenya = {
SOGoMailDomain = crownkenya.com;

.

Yes.
You have to look for valid users via LDAP, as they are not in /etc/aliases.
Therefore postfix won't accept them.

support in the area of an Exchange alternative. But my
reluctance is that I don't understand SOGo, OpenChange,

knew or could tell me where I could get training in this
area.

Currently I have a basic understanding of Linux, but I'm
looking for a cutting edge education. The local education
places only support Samba3 which annoys me to no end.

So in a nutshell, if I were to do some courses (online
preferably) what is the recommendation?

Also I just want to say brilliant venture, I love Linux
so keep up the great work.

Hello Steven,

I have been following SOGo for several months now and played
with the ZEG and tried to add SOGo to a Debian server. I
think there is a long way to go with this before I can use it
and I don't think it's a matter of training. I have used
ClearOS 5.2 successfully for small businesses. With it's web
interface it's very easy to get it to do all the things it's
capable of such as file sharing, email and hosting the
companies website. (I can't say the same about ClearOS 6)

The 'Internet' defines lots of things for us, like how
websites work, how email works and how DNS works. What it
does not define is how address books work. All I want is a
simple centralised database of email addresses that is shared
by all email users in the company.

Back in the 90's there was a fantastic thing called Lotus
Notes which was the ultimate groupware. There are no open
standards to let you create one in Linux. Whare are the IMAP
and SMTP protocols for address books and calendars?

I have no idea why people would create standards such as IMAP
yet not carry on and create standards for address books.
Unless it's so that Microsoft Exchange has no competitor in
the Open Source area.

Wayland.

[SOGo] Tasks and Reminders - Funambol, eM Client, Web Interface

2013-07-01 Thread Ian J .
Hi all,

Can someone tell me if the following is a bug or not?

I've just got Funambol up and running for my Windows Mobile 6.1 device, and
when synchronizing tasks to SOGo I'm getting 'odd' behaviour where the tasks
end up in the phone's Calendar as well as the phone's Tasks application. In the
Calendar they're all set to the same time, an hour ahead of when they sync'd.

It may be relevant that I'm using eM Client. In eM Client the tasks have
reminders and that's where I set them but I've noticed in the SOGo web
interface that there are no reminders on the tasks.

It also might be relevant that though the tasks appear in the phone's Calendar
as well as the Tasks app, in eM Client and the web interface the tasks don't
appear in the calendars, only in the Tasks areas.

 Try placing it in /usr/sbin/Resources/sogod/Resources/ (adjust depending

 That is just to some brain damage in the bundle loading code.

I still don't have a working system as once authenticating at the IdP, SOGo

nothing:

which results in a proxy error:

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The

Looking at the code, I see that SOGo maybe only wants either the uid or
mail attributes encoded in a SAML2NameID format. I'm not sure if the

All,
I am mew to SOGo but not to Unix or sendmail. I would like to update the ZEG
domain to my current domain. I have gotten ZEG installed and sending local and
remotely. I can also receive locally but I need to change the domain so that I
can send to the ZEG server. I have created a domain and a MX record which
works. I get to the box but it is expects a domain of example.com.

I see there is a post How change example.com form the ZEG but I could not get
it working. Is this post still valid?

Thanks head of time
