I used SOGo for several years and I install it for my customers who are very happy with this exchange alternative Unfortunately, I have recently installed SOGo for one of my customers and we have a very strange behaviour. We start SOGo service and after a random time (few minutes or few hours), we observe via top linux command one, then several sogod processus running at 100% cpu. We see in SOGo log pid has been hanging in the same request for x minutes and then watchdog messages : safety belt -- sending KILL signal to pid child exited (terminated due to signal 9) child spawned with pid I know the meaning of previous messages which are finally quite normal, but in the meantime, 5 or 7 process SOGOd running at the same time at 100 % seem to be strange. I never encounter this kind of issue so I started to make some analysis. I first check with strace command to see system calls made by SOGOd process : nothing was displayed except the kill system call made by the watchdog. So its 100% pure cpu usage. I have installed the debug tools in order to provide you some backtrace. You will find below 2 different backtraces done at 2 different moments. They are a little bit different, but the others traces Ive made look similar. Please can you help me as I try to push this solution for this customer ? There are right now 5 test users and 5 activesync enabled. Thanks for your help, especially to indicate me if I need to open a bug. In my case the user is ldap dovecot-ldap.conf.ext hosts = mysamba4host:389 dn = cn=ldap,cn=users,dc=my,dc=domain dnpass = my-ldap-password auth_bind = yes ldap_version = 3 base = cn=Users,dc=my,dc=domain scope = subtree user_filter = (mail=%u) pass_filter = (mail=%u) pass_attrs = mail=%u,= userPassword=password The test it this way!-My users need to login with user@my.domain [root@s4slave dovecot]# doveadm auth test -x service=imap -x rip=192.168.135.253 administra...@tplk.loc Password: passdb: administra...@tplk.loc auth succeeded extra fields: user=administra...@tplk.loc %u=administra...@tplk.loc userPassword=password It the test succeds your up and running. I am playing with different configs, this is the last one: user_filter = (mail=%u) pass_attrs = uid=user, userPassword=password pass_filter = (mail=%u) Error: result: uid missing; userPassword missing Looks like Samba 4 does not have uid? Any good configuration for Dovecot? Thx, Jan
Aw: [SOGo] dovecot installation
In my centos 6.5 /dovecot : I decided to set u%=mail (mail-adddress in ADS) ex.: mailu...@tplk.loc. To read the user and credentials Icraeted the user ldap in my samba4 ads. So my dovecot-ldap.conf.ext, hosts = myhost:389 dn = cn=ldap,cn=users,dc=tplk,dc=loc dnpass = ** auth_bind = yes ldap_version = 3 base = cn=Users,dc=tplk,dc=loc scope = subtree user_filter = (mail=%u) pass_filter = (mail=%u) pass_attrs = mail=%u,= userPassword=password And working on the fly. You just have to fill out mail when you setup your ads users with RSAT. Gesendet:Dienstag, 23. Just got that working, including setting GPOs, folder redirection etc. and was really pleased with myself. Then I started on the Sogo installation and completely broke Samba. For some reason it tries to reprovision samba, which I dont think is the real issue. The issue I think is that it would seem that previous versions of Samba seem to be under /etc/samba where the version I have is under /usr/local/ samba/. Im not asking for anybody to help fix this (although it would be nice) but is there anywhere I can keep an eye on development to let me know when things have progressed to this level? I cant seem to find anything online as to why samba moved the directory yet, but Ill keep pursuing that angle as it seems to be a big problem with anything that integrates. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

Hi - Im writing this email to the users list before submitting a bug report because I suspect I may just be not seeing the method. How do I use an email as the basis of a calendar entry? I tried right-clicking it and looking in Copy To... and Move To... but that seems only to contain other mail folders. I can make the calendar send emails, but I dont see how to turn emails into calendar appointments without repeated copy-pasting (once to the description and then once for each piece of information in the email, such as local attendees, location and so on). It would be great if SOGo could do this more slickly than that. Or turning emails into tasks would be good, too. But for now only invitations Iv send are received by the invited person. Invitations from coworkers are not send. Im the owner of the calendar. May be thats by design or if not, which setting may I check/change? I think your problem stems from the fact, that all other persons are not owner of that calendar. So the events/appointments other users write into this calendar are like invitations already send by some other user. Could you check my theory, by delegating your account to one of them. If she then inserts an event/appointment into your calendar, it should send all invitations. Perhaps you should report a bug about that anyway at http://www.sogo.nu/bugs But that aside. You could use a resource account for that department calendar (we do that). So no one must have write access to that. You and your coworkers only have to invite that resource to your own apointments and it will autoaccept that appointment if not blocked by another one. Today I had time to check your suggestions, but Im failing to set the delegation :) How, where ...? Could you point me to the how to? And how do you add / create a ressource account? A hint on that is also very welcome. BTW: Thanks for your support! cheers . You only need the samba4 Cldap ads directory to authenticate. No need to have openldap too. My thoughts is to have a simplest server as possible and the easiest way to create users. Starting scripts missing I'm not sure, but it seems that if I restart the server installed like provided, the differents services are not starting up automatically. Ready for real life Does couple Samba4/OpenChange/Sogo are ready for the real life? I mean is it possible to use in a corporate environnement? I have also installed Openchange and Samba4 but am not using LDAP anywhere. When i try to setup exchange however, it constantly fails to connect to the exchange server although the ports are all open. From my troubleshooting it appears that what is failing is actually the authentication by the samba service. Qn: Is it necessary for me to install LDAP to have a working version of Openchange? Also, if am having multiple domains for which this server handles email, how will i create a link between the samba users and the ones in the MYSQL database (Dovecot)? Re: [SOGo] Backup Redundant System
Just use samba4 (cldap) replication/dns mode between 2 hosts. I've started looking into your solution and have a couple questions. BTW I apologize, I'm a bit new at this, so I could be overlooking the obvious. I have the MX and DNS failover under control for access to either location, and the replication sounds great, but how can I get service failover for LDAP, SQL etc if the primary network or server goes down? Eg if the primary server goes down, the MX failover will send messages to the backup MX but then that backup MX is still pointing to the primary LDAP db. I could use a failover to point it to the replicated LDAP but that wouldn't work since it's a consumer, not a provider, right? Same with the SQL DB? Thanks Carlin On Tue, Oct 30, 2012 at 6:05 AM, Nathanael Bettridge nbettri...@yahoo.comwrote: ** I know there's been active/passive disk image designs mentioned, but for something more application-level (and more expansive): - Use LDAP with replication for accounts - Use Cyrus IMAPd native replication and frontend/backend to handle mail (you can combine this with a Cyrus Murder to have a primary DB at each site along with a replica DB of the alternate site) - Use native SQL replication for the SOGo database - Use MX failover for inbound email, with live MXes at each site pointing at the same LDAP db and handing off delivery to the Cyrus frontends - Use anycast addresses, or DNS failover scripting, for user-connectivity failover (for some clients we can use SRV record tricks too) We use a setup something like this and it works rather well, though requires a fair few VM instances to run. We also put simple (non-persistent disk) loadbalancing/failover VM's in front of each service that can handle automatic failover (SQL, LDAP read, MX and Cyrus Frontends for example) to handle failures automatically. It also makes backup easy since you run backup on the replicas and nobody notices :) However, we're not using this with Exchange emulation (yet) so it'll be interesting to figure out how it behaves in this environment However for a simple deployment DRBD is probably easier :) Thanks, -Nathanael Bettridge carlinohef...@gmail.com wrote: Hi, I'm am looking at venturing into sogo as an exchange replacement, and have a question before I begin. We have a couple of office locations, and I'd like to set up 2 servers, 1 at each location, that mirror each other. That way if one location goes down (power or internet loss or hardware failure) the other server can still at least receive SMTP. It would be great if the client side connectivity could also work when one or the other servers go down, but not as important as making sure we don't miss any incoming mail over SMTP. Re: [SOGo] HELP!! NO Login after update to 2.0_20111123-1.el5.i386.rpm
Now since yesterday as I updated from sogo2 beta1 to sogo2 beta3. Noene can work with SOGo anymore. The users sits on the login-screen with no grafiks loaded and can not login. It seems as if the paths have changed. Meanwhile I found aout that the .GNUstepDefaults has changed to xlm no text anymore. I did the conversation to xml file format. What I updated are the sogo rpms from:http://www.sogo.nu/files/downloads/SOGo/RHEL5/nightly/i386/RPMS/ with yum update sogo* . This did also update my gnustep. It does not draw sogo-openchange-backend-2.0_2023-1.el5.i386.rpm and the samba4 rpms. Because I was running before without it. And I did a yum update libffi*. Since that time my SOGo is dead. Is there a way to bring it back to life? How do I put the things right again? Re: [SOGo] Cannot access exchange server from outlook
This is a issue with samba4. samba4 to work correctly needs dns. Did you set up dns working with samba4? Then point your network settings on your windows client to the samba4 dns and joint to the samba4 ads and you have no troubles any more. A hint could be my older post, google: HOWTO centOS 5.5 samba4 dns dynamic update/Replication. This post belongs to the samba mailings. Hello, as I understand it you want to run samba3 and samba4 on the same machine? As far as I understand things, a samba4 domain controller is not required to run sogo v2 with native outlook compatibility. Sogo v2 uses the the samba4 libraries to 'decode' between outlook and sogo. [SOGo] Outlook Openchange
Dear all, I am running the ZEG-OC-Ubuntu TP1 with svn update for openchange. On Outlook 2003 it is only instable. Nothing to work with. I can send Emails from the Webinterface/SOGo as openchange but not from Outlook. I can make Events in the Outlook-Calender, when I save them they are nort shown any more. But they are visible in SOGo?!! My Outlook every 2 minutes says there is no connection to exchange and then is connecting again. Re: [SOGo] sogo / outlook question
Hi, SOGo Outlook native support only works on a samba4/openchange basis. Samba3/Ldap is not sufficient to do so. To setup a ads samba4 server there are a few working setups on the net. On the openchange-site you can find also a first manuell setup of SOGo to work with openchange. I myself have a samba4 ads with repl. successfull running on centOS-5.5. I'm asking, because we're currently a scalix customer, and over the years we became more and more unsatistfied with it. I have decided now that the time has come to look for something else. Hi, to openchange: I played around with installation of openchange and it is the exchange extension of samba4 ads which is similar to an ldap server So openchange adds a exchange (email) schema to the ads directory of samba4 at the moment of my trial you had to add the same user twice first in samba then in the provisioned openchange. In theory sogo can interact with ldap and ads. So I think it can pass through username and password to openchange.
