We use it, but sogo should be out of the box replacement for exchange so it should need this at all

Yes, calendars, address books and tasks are supported. We have around 600k downloads and SOGo is one of our main target server and well tested.

As I told you, I tried this for months. I never got AS to show me the content of the folders.

Meanwhile I can see the folders (but not hirarchical). There are not
contents shown. Prefix in dovecot configuration has been "#".

What would be the best way to provide Outlook users with access to
shared folders?

we are using SOGo to provide email and calendar functionality to
Clients using Outlook 2013.

The SOGo server uses our central IMAP server. How can we provide users
with our public shared IMAP folders on the central server?

In Outlook (active sync) I don't see the shared mailboxes.

use cemtos minimal with apache, install SOGo repo and get the latest installation doc. Do as it is descriped abd you are up and running.

What I did to solve it on my centos machine:

Updated not only SOGo by , yum update sogo, I did too update sope. So it looked like , yum update sogo sope* , and after that and a restart of the host it worked again with 2.3.7a as it should.

Had the same problem when trying to update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 recently and rolled back to 2.3.4.
Thought it was some local issue but when you have the same problems with saving calendar events and mails, it seems to be a general issue.
We had a lot of proxy errors in the apache logs, like
Internal error: proxy: error reading status line from remote server 127.0.0.1:2
No errors in the sogo log.

Hope this can be solved.

Did you also update the sope packages?
Do you get any errors in your sogo log?

[SOGo] Update from SOGo 2.3.4 to 2.3.7a Calendar no new event possible/can not send emails

I gave SOgo 2.3.7a a try and updated my SOGo 2.3.4 with yum update sogo succesfully. Everything is working but the calendar add new  event and send emails are not working any more.
The reason is I can not save the event any more !?
Do I have to cahnge something in the config file?

I did sql-update-2.2.17_to_2.3.0.sh on SOGo 2.34 installation and after a restart it worked again.

Then after updating to 2.3.6 the same issue and error.

So I will rest with 2.3.4 for a while

What about something like this:

Tis way I auth my Users with dovecot in a samba4 domain using the "mail".

You need to sogo to find the user in "mail".

Betreff: [SOGo] Login EAS with email address

Hi Guys,

I have multidomain supported environment based on SambaAD. It's working
fine.
I created a php script for handling EAS autodiscover. The test is OK in
MS test page (domain zones has correct SRV records).
But the phone cannot configurable automatically, because the phone tries
the first login with the email address.
I configured the bindfields in all sogo usersources for handle the mail
property, not just the cn.
The cn is already usable for login, but the mail address is not.
This is the log:

The dn is invalid, because the cn != the mail...

How can I configure this feature correctly?

As far As I can say "openchange/samba" needs to be the boss. Member Server will not work.

Hi,

just a short question:

To use Outlook with SOGo I do need the samba/OpenChange features
installed? (Share calendars etc ...)

Can I use an existing Samba 4 AD installation for that? (Or add the sogo
samba as an member?)

BTW: Some information on http://wiki.sogo.nu/MS%20Outlook is outdated

E.g. iCal4OL is not sold anymore.

After updating to sogo 2.3. on Centos 6 sogod will no longer start:

So if SOGo behave like that in my environment there is a user which is misconfigured. Find out that user and delete all settings ex.: sogo-tool remove username.

And all will be fine again.

Hi guys,

first of all, many thanks to SOGo team for this brilliant project.
I used SOGo for several years and I install it for my customers who are very happy with this exchange alternative 

Unfortunately, I have recently installed SOGo for one of my customers and we have a very strange behaviour.
We start SOGo service and after a random time (few minutes or few hours), we observe via top linux command one, then several sogod processus running at 100% cpu. We see in SOGo log pid  has been hanging in the same request for x minutes 
and then watchdog messages :
safety belt -- sending KILL signal to pid 
child  exited
(terminated due to signal 9)
child spawned with pid 

I know the meaning of previous messages which are finally quite normal, but in the meantime, 5 or 7 process SOGOd running at the same time at 100 % seem to be strange. I never encounter this kind of issue so I started to make some analysis.

I first check with strace command to see system calls made by SOGOd process : nothing was displayed except the kill system call made by the watchdog. So its 100% pure cpu usage.

I have installed the debug tools in order to provide you some backtrace. You will find below 2 different backtraces done at 2 different moments.
They are a little bit different, but the others traces Ive made look similar.

Please can you help me as I try to push this solution for this customer ?
There are right now 5 test users and 5 activesync enabled.

What I did to make it work:

First fill in the email-field into the users domain (ADUC) properties. So omly users who have a email-adress set can authenticate. ex:t...@tplk.loc



dovecot-ldap.conf:

dn = cn=mypassword,cn=users,dc=my,dc=domain
dnpass = password

auth_bind = yes
ldap_version = 3

base = cn=Users,dc=tplk,dc=loc

So my dovecot/samba4 configuration is working with this params:

All user which have a entry in ADS mail can autheticate against dovecot/samba4

Be shure the dummy-user password to autheticate will not expire.

In my case the user is ldap

dovecot-ldap.conf.ext








hosts = mysamba4host:389
dn = cn=ldap,cn=users,dc=my,dc=domain
dnpass = my-ldap-password

auth_bind = yes
ldap_version = 3

base = cn=Users,dc=my,dc=domain
scope = subtree

pass_attrs = mail=%u,= userPassword=password



The test it this way!-My users need to login with user@my.domain

I am trying to play with Dovecot to connect to Samba 4 LDAP so I would later use SOGo over that but seem that I have some issue woth config.

I am playing with different configs, this is the last one:

user_filter = (mail=%u)
pass_attrs = uid=user,userPassword=password
pass_filter = (mail=%u)


Error: result: uid missing; userPassword missing

Looks like Samba 4 does not have uid?

Any good configuration for Dovecot?

In my centos 6.5 /dovecot :

I decided to set u%=mail (mail-adddress in ADS) ex.: mailu...@tplk.loc. To read the user and credentials Icraeted the user ldap in my samba4 ads.

So my dovecot-ldap.conf.ext,

dn = cn=ldap,cn=users,dc=tplk,dc=loc
dnpass = **

auth_bind = yes

ldap_version = 3

base = cn=Users,dc=tplk,dc=loc
scope = subtree

And working on the fly. You just have to fill out mail when you setup your ads users with RSAT.

Ive followed the openchange cookbook and have samba4/openchange  sogo
installed.
Now working on integrating Dovecot 2.0.9 on a Centos 6.5 server and would
appreciate anyones help who has this working.

Problem 1:
if dn= cn=Administrator,dc=ourhome,dc=net with dnpass = * ---I
get NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
but dn = administra...@ourhome.net with dnpass =  works
I guess I shouldnt complain but why doesnt the first one work?

Hello,

one possible treason I found out is a mismatched user account. Just restart sogo then watch the log to see if this error is produced from an special user logging in! Then remove the user wich sogo-tool.

In my case everytime the error occured it was a user with a false configuration.

I had the same issue. The cause 1 : a misconfigured user account (imap server wrong). After deleting this userwith sogo-tool SOGowas up and running.

The cause 2: IE11 connecting to SOGo lost connection and the session keep hanging. After the user cleared the cache of the IE the issue was gone.

 but Ill keep pursuing that angle as it seems to be a big problem with

I want to join a SOGo-Box to an existing Domain with a Windows SBS 2011 Essentials(!!!) Box.



Ive asked this Question a few weeks before and get the hint to copy/move the fsmo roles from the Windows to the SOGo Box BUT after a few tries and a little more searching in the Web I found out, that I CANT copy/move all fsmo Roles from an SBS Essential Server to an other box.



My next Idea was to Use the SOGo Box as FIRST DC but the SBS Essential Box couldnt join a Network as second DC ;(.



Is there an other solution to use SOGo in this network??

Sorry, before you delete anything... I build the samba4 with git-core (git clone). After rebuilding I got some acl errors when doing the provision and I searched google and one site recommended deleting the /usr/local/samba directory with rm /usr/local/samba -rf and then to (make install) again. After this I could provision samba4 again without getting the acl errors... Not sure where you are with samba4 install so please search the web for possible answers... (May not be the same error as mine... )

[SOGo] Trying to join SOGo Package samba4 to an existing samba4 domain loops invinite

Dear all,

after installing the Samba4 package for centos 6 I tried to join samba to my existing samba 4 domain. But I get an endless loop of:

and the domain join never ends.



How can I manage the domain join?

I have a small installation of SOGo 2.0 running with about 5 users tu share there calendars with Outlook and Funambol.

All the time it was running top but suddenly sogod eats up my cpu and memory until I do a restart.

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

Hi - Im writing this email to the users list before submitting a bug
report because I suspect I may just be not seeing the method.

How do I use an email as the basis of a calendar entry? I tried
right-clicking it and looking in Copy To... and Move To... but that
seems only to contain other mail folders.

I can make the calendar send emails, but I dont see how to turn emails
into calendar appointments without repeated copy-pasting (once to the
description and then once for each piece of information in the email,
such as local attendees, location and so on). It would be great if SOGo
could do this more slickly than that.

Or turning emails into tasks would be good, too.

 I think your problem stems from the fact, that all other persons are not
 owner of that calendar.
 So the events/appointments other users write into this calendar are like
 invitations already send by some other user.

 Could you check my theory, by delegating your account to one of them.
 If she then inserts an event/appointment into your calendar, it should
 send all invitations.

 Perhaps you should report a bug about that anyway at http://www.sogo.nu/bugs


 But that aside.
 You could use a resource account for that department calendar (we do that).
 So no one must have write access to that.
 You and your coworkers only have to invite that resource to your own
 apointments and it will autoaccept that appointment if not blocked by
 another one.

Today I had time to check your suggestions, but Im failing to set the
delegation :) How, where ...? Could you point me to the how to?

And how do you add / create a ressource account? A hint on that is also
very welcome.

I am running with exim courier-imap open-ldap auth. Without any difficulties. 
On the SOGo side you need at least ldap to work.

You only need the samba4 Cldap ads directory to authenticate. No need to have

This looks like your samba4 configuration /kdc is not running.

First of all your Samba4 must be running.

located in the /etc directory, please refer to your distribution documentation

and replace ${REALM} with the value you chose for the --realm parameter of the 
provision command above, make sure to enter the realm in uppercase letters:

Testing Kerberos

fisrt try the virtual appliance. Myself tried the functions native Outlook 
support with no luck. My Outlook clients only hang up and always inform me that 
the exchange server is not available. In a production environment what a mess!

did the trick. But now my internal client has the same problem.
Is there a way to show apache to set RequestHeader according to external and 
internal Ips?
Or just grap the IP and set it to?

Thinking about SERVER_ADDR in apache.

Tried to substitute server-name and url like this:
RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-name SERVER_ADDR
RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-url https://SERVER_ADDR;

So the IP can be danymic loaded when I request from internal with 
192.xxx.xxx.xxx
and when I request from outside with 213.xxx.xxx.xxx.
But do not know how to parse the SERVER_ADDR into the url or name.
Can someone point me a way.

Dear all, this is my X...attempt to configure SOGo-- Apache to be reached
when I am outside the office.

My router redirect all my https to the SOGo host, 217.XXX.XXX.XXX

changed this lines to:

Proxy http://127.0.0.1:2/SOGo

  RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-port 443

restarted httpd service.
Now I can reach the web-gui with https://217.XXX.XXX.XXX/SOGo successfull.
But when I login it ends up with my local IP-Adress:
https://192.XXX.XXX.124/SOGo/so/myuser/
and that is wrong, and the browser shows up page not found.
How can I get here: https://217.XXX.XXX.XXX/SOGo/so/tester/ ?

 Is it because of the certificate? it is a non-official.
The iphone
is testing after I choose finish and prompting everything all right and no 
SOgo Calendar shows up within the calendar options. I only have the cloud, 
personal and professional.
Do I have to configure something within apache?
Can someone post his experience with an IPHONE 4s?

 The only difference is a / at the end of the URL 
 (https://userid@server/SOGo/dav/userid/)
 
 As we are using a non-official certificate for SSL, it takes quit a long 
 time for the iPhone to set up the caldav account. It even fails to 
 communicate in SSL the first time. We have to accept to fallback to non 
 SSL. Obviously it does'nt work better but it is the stupid way Apple 
 forces us to go through ... Once it fails a second time, we can acces 
 the advanced parameters pane and re check SSL, set port to 443 and 
 adjust the URL.
 
 If only we could set up things manually right from the start ... how 
 much time we would save instead of waiting for the machine to fail :D

 You can always import the certificate of your CA into your iphone by
 pointing safari to the certificate file of the CA, then it's a trusted
 certificate, and you don't have to wait any longer. 
 other than that I can report that sogo 1.3.17-1 works on my iphone 4s,
 like a charm. didn't try sogo 2.0 though.

So your sogo user can login your ADS.
The next step would be, can sogo communicate with SOGos database?
Do you use postgresql or mysql? Is your apache installation as it should.
And do not use sieve in the first run. Try it later when everything else is 
working. Is your Dovecot working with your ads:
telnet your.dovecot.server 143
login username password
This shoul show up: * Dovecot ready

Can you logon to your ADS with sogo and the password? If you succed with this

Be carefull!
If SOGo is running and you edit .GNUstepDefaults , then your .GNUstepDefaults 
gets overwritten.
First of all stop SOGo copy your .GNUstepDefaults  to .GNUstepDefaults.sav or 
what ever you like and then edit .GNUstepDefaults , save your changes.
Start SOGo.

You need to disble network iface on the vm-zeg. start it up.
Then login and setup the nic on the box matching your linux machine, then

 yum updated/installed everything without complaints. (I installed it

 I followed the steps from the pdf  (SOGo Native Microsoft Outlook 
 Configuration.pdf

 Sogo is still working, I can see my agenda and adressbook. The mail is 
 gone but I read somewhere I have to reboot.
 
 That is not my problem.
 
 I need to include some file in my named.conf.
 
 Now I only have a caching nameserver so I havbe a 
 named.caching-nameserver.conf  file.
 
 I added the include lines but when restarting I get this error:
 
 /var/lib/samba4/private/named.conf:11: unknown option 'dlz'
 /var/lib/samba4/private/named.conf.update:2: unknown option
 'update-policy'
 
 Which makes sense coz I run the stock centos 5 bind (9.3..)
 
 The instruction don't say anything about this.
 
 Do I need a better bind or do I needs special version or plugins?

service (home directory) for the samba ads users!? This would bring SOGo up to 
a new dimension and would be a great new unique feature.

I myself tried the same wioth SOGo. And it did not work as it should.
The problem I think is that SOGo itself has a redirected rule in apaches 
sogo.conf. And ist is difficult to redirect this rule again so it can fit with 
the local network too.

Now since yesterday as I updated from sogo2 beta1 to sogo2 beta3.
Noene can work with SOGo anymore. The users sits on the login-screen
with no grafiks loaded and can not login.
It seems as if the paths have changed.
Meanwhile I found aout that the .GNUstepDefaults has changed to xlm no text 
anymore. I did the conversation to xml file format.
What I updated are the sogo rpms 
from:http://www.sogo.nu/files/downloads/SOGo/RHEL5/nightly/i386/RPMS/
with yum update sogo* . This did also update my gnustep. It does not
draw sogo-openchange-backend-2.0_2023-1.el5.i386.rpm and the samba4 rpms. 
Because I was running before without it.
And I did a yum update libffi*.
Since that time my SOGo is dead.
Is there a way to bring it back to life? How do I put the things right again?

nslookup should be like that:
C:\Users\administratornslookup tuepdc
Server:  linux.local
Address:  192.168.135.252

Name:tuepdc.local
Address:  192.168.135.143

Your standard server is empty. Your standard server should be samba4/dns.
Did you point on your clienet network settings to yoursamba4dns?
what gives nslookup your.domain? This should also point to your server
Another item, time should be the same on server and client.
Is the firewall on your linux box blocking the port?

This is a issue with samba4. samba4 to work correctly needs dns.
Did you set up dns working with samba4?
Then point your network settings on your windows client to the samba4 dns
and joint to the samba4 ads and you have no troubles any more.
A hint could be my older post, google:  HOWTO centOS 5.5 samba4 dns dynamic 
update/Replication.

the same issue with me. But if you start the zeg without signing a NIC to it it 
should start. Then login and adapt the network to your needs.
Shutdown the zeg, asign a Nic to it and start it again. it should run.

[SOGo] Outlook Openchange

Dear all,

I am running the ZEG-OC-Ubuntu TP1 with svn update  for openchange.
On Outlook 2003 it is only instable. Nothing to work with. I can send Emails 
from the Webinterface/SOGo as openchange but not from Outlook.
I can make Events in the Outlook-Calender, when I save them they are
nort shown any more. But they are visible in SOGo?!!
My Outlook every 2 minutes says there is no connection to exchange and then
is connecting again.
I did setup Otlook 2003 exactly as described.

Hi,
SOGo Outlook native support only works on a samba4/openchange basis.
Samba3/Ldap is not sufficient to do so.
To setup a ads samba4 server there are  a few working setups on the net.
On the openchange-site you can find also a first manuell setup of SOGo to
work with openchange.
I myself have a samba4 ads with repl. successfull running on centOS-5.5.
IN the new year I plan to seup my first SOGo Integration in my samba4 forest. 
If I have the time and succeed  with it I will post a howto to the list

After an nightly Update I can no longer restart SOGo with: service sogod 
restart, stop or start are also no longer working:
[r...@edvabteilung ~]# service sogod stop
/var/spool/sogo does not exist.
What are the new functions to do a simple restart?

I made a mkdir /var/spool/sogo and a chown sogo /var/spool/sogo  and it did as 
it should.
When did you change it to work like this???

 just for this.
 
 So fix this and you should be fine.

HI,
to use openchnge you need samba4, this is a must. Openchange is an 
exchange-like extension for the samba 4 ads.
Samba4 is alpha, thats right but I run it in an production env with replication 
with success and stable. You can look at my thread in the samba list: HOWTO 
samba4 centos5.5 named dnsupdate drbd simple failover
I had a third samba4/openchange in this contest running. But at this stage of 
development it turned out to dont work with outlook.
With SOGo now it is different. As soon as this native support is working.
I will put it in my samba4 forest :-)

Just try courier-imap with ldap auth and exim as an alternativ. It is easier to

Hi I am with courier-imap and shared folders. You have to make shared folders 
first with your imap server, then you can see them in sogo.

At the moment I can not see if my shared folders are still working because

 ist this handled by sogo? anyone has experience with the combination

 i am able to set the acls in the web interface (sharing of an email
 folder) and
 these setting are also properly saved.

just updated on centos from rhe nightly builds. gnustep was also updated to 
gnustep*1.20.2-1.i386.rpm.

After restarting sogo I got the error on logging in:An unhandled error occured.
Checked my GNustepDefaults seems still ok. Got a new SOGo.conf in my 
/etc/httpd/conf.d/SOGo.conf adjusted it to my Server Ip as it was before.
Restarted httpd restarted sogo. Still the same. Can not log in any more!???
What is going wrong

Hi,

to openchange: I played around with installation of openchange and it is
the exchange extension of samba4 ads which is similar to an ldap server
So openchange adds a exchange (email) schema to the ads directory of samba4
at the moment of my trial you had to add the same user twice first in samba 
then in the provisioned openchange.
In theory sogo can interact with ldap and ads. So I think it can pass through 
username and password to openchange.

So my SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles are:
 SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles = (PublicViewer);

Do I have to comment them out or do some extra settings? So my settings are 
stored?

 I am not sure, but did you set SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles while configuring
 SOGo, before as suggested in the manual ? Maybe that's overwriting your
 acls
 or something ?

within my personal calendar (SOGo on centOS 5.4) I can not save the entries in 
: web-guy, right click personal calendar-there public access,
there points, Public, Confidencial, Private. I can choose whatever I want 
from in the access rights and press update, when I return into the windows the 
changes where not saved!??
Is there something to be done in the .GnuStepdefault??

[SOGo] Status on native Outlook compatibility-SOGo/Openchange

Dear Team,

It is nice to hear about that.I myself did try out openchange with samba4
 as an excahnge substitute, and was not able to connect from outlook to the 
server. On what kind of connection would your connection be? Is there still 
windows exhange needed?! Or did you succeed in having talk openmapi
with courier or cyrus? Or is it the integration with samba4?

Just subscribe all the calendars you want to the user you sync with outlook.
mark them as syncronise in the tag
