[SOGo] SOGo sogo_user_profile problems
I am having major issues with SOGo scrolling errors containing: NAME:ExecutionFailed REASON:Table './sogo/sogo_user_profile' is marked as crashed and should be repaired. It isn't just the simple setup that makes it useful for certain users. In our case we can only have port 80 and 443 open to the internet. So IMAP is a no go. Activesync is a great solution for this. However I have never had good luck with the sogo implementation of it. We have been using zpush on a separate server successfully since nearly the beginning of using sogo though. I am trying to export some users calendars for testing. Our director has the largest calendar of all users and he is the main one I am wanting to test. When I try to export to an ics file via the web interface it times out with the following error:Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. [SOGo] Upgrade 2.1.1b to current 2.2.5
I am looking to upgrade our 2.1.1b install on Centos 6.5 to the current 2.2.5 release. I looked through the install docs and only saw if upgrading from 2.0.5 I would need to change over to the sogo.conf, which I have already done. I am needing to set the Allow return receipts for some messages to Ask me for every user on my domain without having to ask them to do it. Is this a setting I can push via the global settings? Just for future prosperity sake here is how I did it:
First run a backup of all users with sogo-tool. I put my backups in /backup on
the server:
sudo -u sogo-tool backup /backup ALL
Then I created the settings.sh file with the following contents:

[SOGo] php-push2 question
I have z-push setup and functioning just fine on an external server. However I am looking to test out the modified php-push2 so it can integrate the contacts and calendar without seperate server settings, mainly on apple devices. The only problem I am running in to is I am running CentOS 6.4, so there is no libawl-php in any of the repositories I can find. the site in the readme is not reachable either. Is this a package that is needed for it to work at all? If it is needed, can someone point me to where to obtain it?--Donny B.

I have been trying for weeks now to get PHP-Push-2 to work on my SOGo
system. The thing is, the old sogosync works like a charm, the only
problem with sogosync is that it doesn't support HTML email because it
has an older merge of z-push.
I have a previous thread entitled [SOGo] sogosync and html email but
have hit a brick wall.
After installing PHP-Push-2, copying the supplied config.php files and
following the rest of the instructions etc. I can connect my iOS devices
but when I go to check mail I get a password error. A look into the
z-push log shows:

Increasing the LOG level doesn't appear to show anything useful.
I have tried defining the CALDAV port manually but then I get similar
errors about CARDAV_SERVER and CARDDAV_PATH, again I define these
manually in the config.php file but I still get issues and more errors -
see previous thread [SOGo] sogosync and html email.
It's like the supplied config.php file isnt complete?
I am getting super desperate as I need this system to be in production
asap! I am getting to the point where I am willing to pay someone a fee
to fix it for me if no one has any useful suggestions :( -I can be
reached on michael(^at^)los-pollos(^dot^)co .

Did a yum install. and it is now at least showing something different now. [SOGo] Resources in different ldap ou?
Currently we have all of our resources in the same ou as our normal users. Computer accounts are broken off into a separate ou though. Could SOGo handle us moving the resources to a separate ou also? [SOGo] Migrating SOGo
I am trying to setup a new machine to move our SOGo installation to. I am a bit rusty as th elast one I installed from the ground up was way back in the early 1.x days. However I have followed the directions and installed all the sogo stuff, memcached, sope49-mysql, mysql, etc and configured what I can find in the docs. With this move we are also moving to our new samba domain so that has changed also. We are doing TLS security and I think I have the .GNUstepDefaults configured correctly. [SOGo] Proper way to migrate and upgrade
We are moving our current 1.3.18a install to a new machine and upgrade to the most recent 2.0 branch of sogo at the same time. Our current setup has its mysql database on a separate machine as is the IMAP mail store. These machines are migrating as well if that matters. What I had thought would most likely be the best way to migrate is to use a sogo-tool backup on the current one, setup the new machine the way I want, then use the backup to import the data. We are moving our current 1.3.18a install to a new machine and upgrade to the most recent 2.0 branch of sogo at the same time. Our current setup has its mysql database on a separate machine as is the IMAP mail store. These machines are migrating as well if that matters. What I had thought would most likely be the best way to migrate is to use a sogo-tool backup on the current one, setup the new machine the way I want, then use the backup to import the data. [SOGo] pid XXXX has been hanging in the same request for X minutes
For the past two days at random times we have been having this happen. When it happens the sogod process eats 100% of the cpu and just becomes unresponsive. To the point that even after stopping, killing the stuck sogod processes, and restarting the service has it hanging again within a minute of starting it back up. When this happens it does not matter if we shut the machine down, restart it, stop the process, etc when it comes back up it will happen within a minute of starting. That is until it magically decides to run right. Our sogo installation uses external imap/mysql/ldap servers and when this has been happening all of the external servers are fine. Use gdb and produce a stack trace, that will tell you what it's waiting for. Thanks! I have never used gdb so I am looking into how to use it now. getent passwd returns all ldap users, including sogo. my /etc/passwd, and /etc/shadow for that matter, are the same as they have been since March of this year. Not a local user. There is no sogo user in /etc/shadow, /etc/group, or /etc/passwd. Looking at my backups for the past year and no local user. No modification was done. When we set it up initially we only followed the instructions for a default install only changing the configs to work with our existing openldap, mysql, and IMAP servers. It is odd that it is looking in the wrong directory for the config. I even tried moving the config to that directory but then it errors out saying it can't write the lock file. [SOGo] Have Thunderbird automatically install integrator
I am trying to get thunderbird to automatically install integrator. I have
tried putting the .xpi file in the %PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla
Thunderbird\extensions\ folder named as the {extension-id}.xpi located in the
install.rdf. I even tried adding a %PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla
Thunderbird\distribution\extensions\ folder and placing it there instead. I
have tried putting the unzipped files from the .xpi file in the folder named
the extension-id also. In my config I have added extensions.autoDisableScopes
to 11 but nothing works. I am at a loss. Once I get integrator I can have it
pull connector and lightning but it's just a matter of getting integrator to
install automatically first. I am doing this testing manually but eventually I
want to create a wpkg package that will push it out to the end users for the
initial time. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

I'm still on an old version of thunderbird (I'm personally testing 10
esr, but cannot give to my user a thunderbird with an integrator that
asks 10 times the password), but I just put the extensions in the
extensions folder.

I understand about the asking for passwords. If you set that
signon.rememberSignons to true the end users will have a checkbox to remember
password and it will not ask. I initially had that set to false but then the
higher ups got tired of having to type their passwords a bazillion times so I
was forced to change it to true. I have also put a file in the defaults/pref
directory pointing to a .js file in the main thunderbird directory. However
this file merely points to another settings file that is on our intranet web
server. That way I can change the preferences globally with just one config
change. I have set the extensions.autoDisableScopes to 11 but it still will not
work as it should. The global configs work beautifully but the auto install of
extensions does not.

[SOGo] Cannot select then unselect in web calendar
Ever since we upgraded to 1.3.15 a week ago I have had users complain about some problems in calendar of the web interface. I have been able to reproduce the issue consistently. If you open your calendar, uncheck any of the checked calendars it will go away like it should. However if you try to recheck it you cannot. Same in reverse. Plus the checkmark never goes away. You have to reload the webpage to get it to work again. I have tried multiple browsers and os's. I have cleared the cache and everything I can think of on the client pc's all to no avail. [SOGo] inviting groups to meetings
Our current setup does not allow us to properly invite groups of people to a meeting or event by simply using their group email address. I figure this is due to the groups are setup in /etc/aliases on our mail server rather than in OpenLDAP. For instance if we were to send an invitation to gro...@mdah.state.ms.us for a meeting next monday they all will receive the email invitation but it shows: u...@mdah.state.ms.us is proposing a meeting to the attendees. You receive this mail as a notification, you are not scheduled as a participant. If we were to instead have the groups setup in OpenLDAP would this behaviour change and allow the individuals to accept/decline the invitation? [SOGo] SOGo with thunderbird plugins keeps asking for password
We just rolled out Thunderbird 10esr and the SOGo plugins (10.0.1) to our users. Now they are having the issue of having to type their user/pass multiple times. I have looked and it appears this is once for each calendar they have. Is there a fix for this? [SOGo] Proxy error on edit of single event within orrurance
One thing that we have noticed lately is that when a user sets up a recurring event and they try to edit just one instance within it they receive a proxy error. Specifically it states: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /SOGo/so/username/Calendar/edit Reason: Error reading from remote server I am pretty sure this has not been happening long but with us having end user training on Thursday of this week I would like to get it narrowed down soon if possible. We are running the most recent 1.3.14-1 on Centos 5.8. This is all in the web frontend. -- Donny B.
[SOGo] Resource double booking on recurrance
I remember reading somewhere on the list that there was a bug when a resource was invited to a recurring event you could still double book it. I thought I read that it was supposed to be fixed in one of the recent releases but I cannot find that anywhere now. I just checked and I invited a resource to a recurring event then had another user try to book it on one of the recurring days. They were able to however it did pop up a notification on the first window but it allowed them to still save the event. So I am guessing that this bug is still active or is this intended behavior? -- Donny B.

I have already tested the CalDAV on iOS and Android and it works (iOS stock but android needs CalDAVSync-Beta from the market). Reading in the documentation of the mobile access of SOGo I have to change the port number to 8800. Since I can only use 80 and 443 is there a way to pass the carddav over one of these ports along with the caldav and web interface? -- Donny B.

However since I now know this I am fine doing it this way and just simply looking for email support. If we could get a complete all-in-one ActiveSync setup that worked flawlessly I would not be against using it. Since our circumstances dictate everything has to go through port 80 and/or 443 we are pretty much at the mercy of ActiveSync and similar protocols. Has anyone else seen similar issues? -- Donny B. After some more testing it appears the issue is z-push. I was able to add the caldav stuff directly from the SOGo server to the ipad no problem. Two-way sync works beautifully. So it appears that with the iOS 5.XX upgrade they dropped/broke support for older activesync protocol versions. The z-push version we are running, and also the same thing was posted here on this list a month or so ago, was written in 2007. So now the adventure begins to try to setup a recent z-push that can do only email to our imap server. So once we have that setup we will be good to go on email and caldav. Unfortunately unless we can get z-push to work with contacts tied into SOGo then we will just have to go without carddav since we cannot open port 8800 to the outside world. So in the end, sorry for all the noise, just trying to document what I can to make sure no one else has to go through the hoops I had to go through. [SOGo] sogo-tool expire
Ever since the 1.3.12a/b/c updates I had been having issues with my sieve not able to connect to my mail server to update the sieve scripts. I fixed that today by specifying the IP of the server in the defaults file. I'd certainly try giving your VM more memory. That appears to have been the main thing that helped for me. When I saw memory limits being reached, sogod would sometimes hang and consume 100% of the CPU. It started life with 4GB of memory and 4cpu cores. Recently when this started happening I gave it 6GB and 6 cores but that did not help much if any. Changing the cleanup time from 300 seconds to 90 seconds had the most impact and giving it 8 workers with 256MB each helped too. I just don't have the luxury of trying different settings since this is a production system now. If someone could explain the settings better maybe one evening I can change them to be optimal. We have approx 200 users and use SOGo with external dovecot, external MySQL, and external OpenLDAP. So it really isn't hard to replace the machine if need be. Here recently we have been having a major problem with high load on our SOGo server. It will go from a normal load to unresponsive in less than 5 minutes. If I don't catch it in time and stop/start the services it will require I power the server off and restart it. [SOGo] Testbed setups
I have been meaning to setup a testbed for our SOGo installation ever since we finally moved from testing to production. Basically our setup consists of SOGo on it's own virtual machine. It pulls LDAP from our primary OpenLDAP server, mail is accessed from our primary mail server, MySQL is accessed on our primary MySQL server, and we have a separate machine setup for mobile mail using the modified z-push which ties back into SOGo for the calendar/contacts. My question is this: is there anyone that has a fully functional testbed setup that mirrors their production setup in every way? If so how did you do it? Totally separate MySQL server or just a separate database? I am not really concerned about the LDAP or mail but mostly MySQL since that is where everything is kept for the calendars and such. What I would like to do is have a fully functional duplicate SOGo server that we can test updates on before rolling out to production. This means like duplicating the MySQL database and making sure preferences are the same in both places for like calendar colors, signature, etc. I am not concerned with entries input on the testbed translating to the production since all we will input on the testbed is exactly that, testing data. I just use Proxmox to virtualise the whole sogo server in KVM or openvz, then create a snapshot and run with that. Its then identical in every way ... Depends on the scale of your operation really i guess ... Julian The only issue I have with the exact snapshot is that in our setup the MySQL database is on a separate machine. So basically both machines would have access to the same database at the same time. That is why I was thinking about doing a separate MySQL database or server for testing. Welp pulled the plug on the update this morning and having a few issues:
1. all of my shared calendars disappeared. All I have left in the web
interface is my personal one and one other I created. All color coding
is gone. In the logs I get error 404 on the pulls of the other
calendars. not all users are missing calendars, only a handful.
2. I keep seeing this error in the logs:

Since the plugins are production ready now I have a question. We need to do some more testing, mostly of the how to update existing installations flavor. However when I install the new plugins, not the preX versions, it pulls the old 3.1XX plugins from my updates server. Could I just simply add another sub-directory to the path and put the new ones in there so I don't disturb the existing installs until our testing is completed? [SOGo] Lightning Home calendar removal
I have noticed that lightning by default installs a Home calendar that is a local only calendar. Before I noticed this some of our users had put events on it. Then they went to the SOGo web side and didn't see their events. This lead me into investigate and found the Home calendar. It is easy enough to move the events to their Personal calendar but is there a way to automatically remove the Home calendar from lightning upon installation? We have already informed all users to only use the web interface for the time being to input events. If they have stuff on the Home calendar it will be deleted. So that is not an issue. I know the code is in the extensions for TB2 but it could easily ported as it's like, a 2-liners. Would be good to have in (as a configurable item) in the integrator. André Wholeheartedly agreed. I have noticed that if a user shares their calendar and changes the name it is automatically changed on the others calendars they are sharing with also. I would like to do this for my resources. If the resources had a password I could log in as I know I could change it there. However I prefer not to give them a password for security reasons. [SOGo] SOGo caldav and android
Just wanted to add my voice in on this one. I have had no less than 6 android devices over the past few months that I have been testing with SOGo for email and calendar sync. So far it is mostly successful on email (using the modified z-push) but the falling point was calendar. Most of the phones I have tested would put entries on SOGo but wouldn't pull from SOGo. So that lead me to search for PROPER caldav access. Then I found a post here on the list pointing me to the CalDAV sync-Beta by dmfs (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.dmfs.caldav.lib). I must say this has worked 100% on all of the devices I have tested it on. Truly proper 2-way syncing and you can select any of your calendars on SOGo not just your personal one. Also the color coding pulls down too. I do not have any affiliation with the dmfs people, just a very happy customer sharing my thoughts. [SOGo] iOS 5.0.1 devices and email with z-push
When we started getting users upgrading their iDevices to iOS 5.0.1 we started noticing that the email/calendar sync was no longer working. Anyone on 4.3.5 or older was working fine though. I remember reading somewhere on the list about it possibly being a SOPE limitation or something similar. It was like it was an unknown version if I remember correctly. [SOGo] Resource calendars
Is there a way to have a public read only calendar that has all of the resources on it? I would like it to be just a webpage that displays the information so the user doesn't even have to be logged in to sogo to see it and I can put the page on our intranet. I would still very much like to open a discussion about this - ie., Funambol (SyncML) backend vs. Z-Push (ActiveSync) backend. To offer a very good mobile experience, I feel we'll have to make a choice and focus our efforts into one or the other. We chose Funambol many years ago. It might have been a good choice back then but it doesn't mean it's still the best. On my end (and speaking for myself only), there are some things I dislike about Funambol such as a worthless bug tracker, patches taking decades to get accepted (or even bugs getting acknowledged), Java-based (enough said here), requires more resources than all other SOGo components and requirements combined together and multiplied by your favorite factor of the day (must be greater than 2), almost impossible to package together with SOGo and more. What I mostly fear about Z-Push is that we'll revisit all the device synchronization bugs we had over the past few years with Funambol/SyncML and we'll have to hack around like we did. This is very valuable time and know-how here. Getting the Z-Push connector up and running can be done in a snap, but refining it will take some time. Also, having the Sword of Damocles on top of my head regarding the licensing agreement doesn't make me a happy, happy, joy man. The biggest selling point for the z-push style email for us was that we could run it on port 80/443 and was approved to pass through the state firewall.
