it seem that problem is already reported:

This seems useful to do a backport of commit into a stable release.

Re: [SOGo] PostgreSQL Idle connections from

I see a similar behaviour after upgrading to SOGO 5.2.0 with MySQL as
database.
After a few hours of client usage the Mysql database runs out of
available connections.

I need the debugging entries during a busy period, until you reach the
maximum number of connections of your PostgreSQL server. I'm looking
at entries such as:

 - DBPOOL: create new DB channel

Or we had it before but didn't see it ;-)

Connections stay idle, mainly with an adressbook (PostgreSQL view with right
columns) query from Thunderbird dav (with sogo-connector).

We're using ubuntu server 20.04 (PostgreSQL 12.9 - no pooler), everything up to
date. We configured idle_in_transaction_session_timeout='5min' as workaround,
the job is done for most of connections, but not on dav queries (maybe because
of the client response?). These dav connections stay, and new ones are created
every 30 min. With few clients we reached tuesday the default max amount of
connections for Postgresql (100). Never happened in five years of happy use ;-)

With [PGDebugEnabled = YES;], no special observation, queries seem to be fine.

Restarting SOGo is the only way to clean up everything.

Can you enable GCSChannelManagerPoolDebugEnabled and share the log entries?

Thanks,

Francis

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 91, SOGo Connector

2021-10-13 Thread Florian Unger

I gave up waiting for a release from the SOGo team long ago.
Since Thunderbird 78 I use the addons generated by the HU-Berlin
https://kal.hu-berlin.de/plugins/

and modify them for my calendar server URL.
With those I am a happy user of TB78 and now TB 91.

Best regards

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78

2020-07-23 Thread Florian Unger

Many thanks for sharing this interesting document.
I am struggling myself with converting an addon for TB 52 into an
TB68/78 compatible addon.

Maybe you could publish this at
https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/about-add-ons
so that also other addon developers can get aware of this.

Best regards

I will add the options section today or tomorrow. There is also an API
for legacy bootstrapped extension, but if I remember correct, sogo was a
legacy overlay extension, but have not looked lately. The guide for the
bootstrapped API will need a few more days.

This is intended to get compatible with TB78 with minimal efforts, but
of course it is not a long term solution. After the initial update, we
will send out little update-steps to get rid of the legacy parts one
by one.

I've spent some time on this yesterday and it'll be quite complex to
adjust the extensions so they work with Thunderbird 78. Most of the
difficulties is coming from the GUI parts that we were changing using
overlays.

It'll take a few weeks before we are done.

Re: [SOGo] SOGo 4 performance issues

2019-10-08 Thread Florian Unger

I found out that the performance issues were caused by my Thunderbird
installation or profile.
In a fresh installation of Thunderbird 60.9.0 with a profile set up from scratch the
calendars are loading in a few seconds.

But while debugging my Thunderbird I stumbled upon other issues.
In the javascript error console I have hundreds of warnings
"Lightning:Parsing failed for parts of the item (while this is considered to be a minor
issue, we continue processing the item):"

calIcsParser.js:152
mostly because of parse errors for the event duration:
X-LIC-ERROR;X-LIC-ERRORTYPE=PARAMETER-VALUE-PARSE-ERROR:Got a VALUE parameter with an
illegal type for property: VALUE=DURATION

but some also because of the location property:
X-LIC-ERROR;X-LIC-ERRORTYPE=VALUE-PARSE-ERROR:No value for LOCATION property. Removing
entire property:

Events that show these warnings are displayed in Lightning but when I try to edit them
saving to the Sogo calendar fails.

The second issue that occurred is that some calendars are marked "momentarily not
available" in Lightning. Error in javascript error console is:

"There has been an error reading data for calendar: ... Error code:
DAV_REPORT_ERROR
Error code: READ_FAILED. Description:   calCalendarManager.js:984
Lightning:[calCachedCalendar] replay action failed: null,
uri=https://sogo4.test.local/SOGo/dav/xyz/Calendar/C41412A0-E400-0001-AA2F-1400174C2F00/,
result=2147500037, operation=[xpconnect wrapped calIOperation]

The calendars all work fine in the web interface.

Best regards
Florian

How many and how big are the calendars you are synchronizing?

I have 21 calendars to sync. Their total backup size with sogo-tool is about 4

[SOGo] Future of Thunderbird and SOGo?

2017-04-24 Thread Florian Unger

Hello everyone,

I am a bit concerned about the future of Thunderbird.
The road map of Mozilla development will drop support for XUL/XPCOM based extensions,
which will also affect the sogo-connector and sogo-integrator addons.
All this seems to cause a lot of turmoil in the developer community. I read of plans to do
a complete rewrite of Thunderbird as "Thunderbird++"...

I wonder what are the plans of the sogo team for this are
* what is the road map of SOGo? Were will you go?
* will you continue to support Thunderbird?
* are there alternatives to Thunderbird in the Windows universe (except Outlook) that
escaped my search?
* will it be possible to port the sogo-connector and sogo-integrator addons to the
upcoming webextensions API or is this too restrictive?

Since my infrastructure relies heavily on the use of SOGo in combination with Thunderbird
and selfmade addons for Thunderbird I wonder if this is still feasible in future or are
we/I riding a dead cow?

Especially my selfmade addon concerns me. It relies on a XPCOM component that provides the
interface to a local SQL database.

So far I have no idea how I would port that to webextensions API...

I would appreciate your opinions, comments and advice on this topic.

Hi,

thanks for the feed back, but I tried already a lot of different settings
- no Sync size
- small Sync size (512)
- large Sync size (10240)

- long watchdog timeout (1 hour)
and for all I got the same problem that processes are hanging in the same
request.

I was hoping for some new angles to attack that issue and perhaps somebody can tell
something from the log files and backtraces I provided?

Has somebody hints how to narrow down the possible root cause?
Additional debug output, ... - something more profound than fishing in the dark with
different settings?

For me it worked when SOGoMaximumSyncWindowSize is unset in the configuration file, then
SOGo respects what the client is requesting. Setting it to 0 should be the same, but
only when unset it worked in my case.

I tried increasing timeouts up to 1 hour as suggested in the Active Sync tuning

Any hint how to resolve this issue would be great.

Re: [SOGo] does not support result references yet

2016-01-18 Thread Florian Unger

Hi,

I just had the same error message when running sogo-tool
and an overall very slow behaviour of SOGo with very high cpu load.

I found this old post from 2008 about the same error:
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.cms.opengroupware.sogo/858

Back then it happened when using Active Directory as LDAP source in combination with
Thunderbird, which is also my scenario.

the solution was

You have to write
IDFieldName = sAMAccountName;
instead of
IDFieldName = cn;

in the config of AD LDAP source.

This helped to solve my issue.

[SOGo] Dovecot IMAP Proxy

2016-01-10 Thread Florian Unger
Hi,

a hint for everybody who needs to set up a simple IMAP proxy with Dovecot.
The configuration example from the SOGO Native Microsoft Outlook Configuration
Guide:
> auth_mechanisms = plain login

> imapc_port = 993
> imapc_ssl = imaps
> imapc_ssl_verify = no

> default_fields = userdb_imapc_user=%u userdb_imapc_password=%w
> driver = imap
> }
> protocols = imap
> ssl = no
> userdb {
> driver = prefetch
> }

was not working for me on Centos7 with Dovecot 2.2.10 because Dovecot was
always crashing
with error:
dovecot: auth: Fatal: master: service(auth): child 11033 killed with signal 11
(core dumps
disabled)

It seems that driver imap is buggy.
This alternative configuration using driver static did the trick for me:

Hi,

SOGoForceIMAPLoginWithEmail was unset, setting it to NO did not change the

After all I did expect this since this options only changes the login name.

Re: [SOGo] Lightning Not Fetching All Calendars

2011-02-09 Thread Florian Unger
Hi,

I had a similar problem and in my case it was caused by deprecated parameters
still
present in GNUstepDefaults.
See attached mail.

On 13.11.2010 23:07, SOGo Administrator wrote:
 Greetings.

I have a Thunderbird 3.1 installation here and a user with about a dozen
shared calendars. For some reason, when I installed the SOGo connector et
al. and configured her user account, I'm not able to get all of her calendars
fetched. I have deleted the sqlite cache file several times, and when I
restart TB, I can see the file growing in size, but it never seems to get to
the full size of the other sqlite cache (on TB2; this is a new computer for
this user). And it will generally end up a different size each time I delete
it and reload it, for example after one delete and reload it's 174 KB, after
 another one it's 268, etc.

Any troubleshooting tips? I don't seem to be getting any errors in either
the sogo log on the server, or the thunderbird error console.

[SOGo] Problems with Thunderbird Addons after upgrade from sogo 1.2.1 to 1.3.5a

2011-02-03 Thread Florian Unger
Hi,

yesterday I made a major update of my sogo server from version 1.2.1 to 1.3.5a
I applied the sql update scripts sql-update-1.2.2_to_1.3.0.sh and
sql-update-1.3.3_to_1.3.4.sh
and changed http.conf and GNUstepDefaults (see below).

The webinterface is working fine and I can access all calendars and events.

But I have got major problems with Thunderbird 3.1.7 and the Addons
sogo-integrator-3.104,
sogo-connector-3.104 and lightning-1.0b2.104i_win32

I did set up a fresh profile and tried to installed the addons.
This took several attempts because thunderbird crashed or did not respond
anymore.
The first loading of the calendars took very long - nearly half an hour and
after the
calendars were loaded only part of the events are displayed in lightning.

I got these messages in the thunderbird error console

Failed to load XPCOM component: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Profiles\d63em7it.TB3
test\extensions\sogo-connec...@inverse.ca\components\cardDAVAutocompleteSession.idl

Failed to load XPCOM component: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Profiles\d63em7it.TB3
test\extensions\sogo-connec...@inverse.ca\components\ContextManager.idl

Failed to load XPCOM component: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Profiles\d63em7it.TB3
test\extensions\sogo-connec...@inverse.ca\components\NotificationManager.idl

Failed to load XPCOM component: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Profiles\d63em7it.TB3
test\extensions\sogo-connec...@inverse.ca\components\nsISOGoConnectorACSessionWrapper.idl

Failed to load XPCOM component: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Profiles\d63em7it.TB3
test\extensions\sogo-connec...@inverse.ca\components\SyncProgressManager.idl

These messages only appear on first install of the addons. After a restart of
thunderbird
they don't appear anymore.
