calendar to either timeout faster or do the update in the background?
Its because Thunderbird is needing to build a new cache. Normally the
cache would already be on the user's profile and just topped up with the
new events.

There's been quite a bit of discussion about using the cache on the ml,
so that may be a good place to start.

It doesnt seem currently possible to allow the caching to happen in the
background.

I've found Thunderbird 10 and appropriate connector is a bit faster and
creating a cache file too

Is there more people interested?
How could I access the previous discussion message?

Hello

If you go here you can find links to the archives

But i have a feeling that the consensus of the previous discussion was
that there currently isn't anything that can be used with sogo directly
that supports an element of file sharing.

Apologies for answering my own question, but on some very basic tests so
far, there is quite an improvement in the response time when composing
an email or Inviting an attendee to an event. Previously, it would take
a second or two for email addresses to be returned using carddav, which
doesn't sound long, but did make the application feel sluggish in use.

Now with Thunderbird 10 and associated connector, lightning 1.2.1 and
integrator these email addresses appear almost instantaneously.

I am not totally sure if this will fix my related issue above where on
occasion composing an email hangs the whole of Thunderbird but certainly
there has been something that has changed, which can only help ..

Or do I uninstall TB3.1 on each machine and then install TB10ESR, add

The seems cleanest, but most labor per machine.

Also, do people recommend using a new update url (updates10.php) for

[SOGo] SOGO new Addons - small issue

2012-02-10 Thread Julian Robbins

Hi

Looks like alpha3 fixed by problem with the incorrect itip message
appearing in the email sent to the recipient. great.

One small thing though, if as a recipient you accept an appointment,
Thunderbird now pops up a message saying 'Would you like to send a
notification email with a tickbox asking about about supporting Outlook
2000/xp.

With Thunderbird 3.1 and the SOGo addons for that version, we never
would see that message. I have seen this message on the previous stock
versions of Lightning, ie the mozilla version not the Inverse version.

Personally, I would probably rather not have another dialog box to click
through as most of our users will always want to send a notification
back. But certainly its a change in behaviour so thought I ought to
mention this

yesterday (got missed with the massive interest in the new addons) is
that comparing the two versions of the older lightning xpi that the
mozilla version was far quicker to recreate its cache file approx 90s
compared to the Sogo version of lightning, taking 10-12 mins. Also the
sogo version tends to make thunderbird completely lock up so its
unusable until the cache has been rebuilt ...

I have no idea why there's the difference though ..

Re: [SOGo] SOGo extensions for Thunderbird 10!

2012-02-09 Thread Julian Robbins

Does anyone else get this with latest Thunderbird and new addons ?

Using SOGo 1.3.111, Ubuntu 64 bit Desktop, Thunderbird 10ESR, Lightning
1.2.1 and Sogo Integrator and Connectors alpha addons.

Bug :- If someone invites me to a meeting I get an email with the invite
but although I havent 'touched' that invitation at all, the email says

This message contains an event that has already been processed (with an
Open button)

Pressing open does take you to the event correctly

This used to work correctly with Thunderbird 3.1, lightning 1.0b5/6, and
Sogo Integrator/connector 3.106i

[SOGo] latest addons - bug

2012-02-09 Thread Julian Robbins

Does anyone else get this with latest Thunderbird and new addons ?

Using SOGo 1.3.111, Thunderbird 10ESR, Lightning 1.2.1 and Sogo
Integrator and Connectors pre2 addons.

Bug :-

If a user with permissions to write to three calendars, ie his own
personal calendar and two others; creates an event in the web interface
he can only select the calendar for these calendars, but with
Thunderbird/Lightning setup as above, he is able to select from any of
the calendars available on the server where he only has read
permissions. When he attempts to write to a calendar he can't write to
he gets a Modification failed error as expected. But he shouldn't be
able to select the calendar in the first place.

This is a regression as this worked fine with Thunderbird 3.1.x,
lightning 1.0b5/6, and Sogo Integrator/connector 3.106.

[SOGo] Significant Bugs in the the Inverse Lightning version and not the plain version of Lightning ?

2012-02-08 Thread Julian Robbins

Hello

As we are talking about Thunderbird Addons for SOGo, I have found a few
points I wish to discuss, hopefully find resolutions to.

Using Thunderbird 3.1.x and Sogo lightning-1.0b2.105/6i, and SOGo
Integrator-1.0b2.105/6i, I have a few issues. Mainly it is that the
calendar cache files data gets corrupted quite often for our users and
the only way to fix it is to delete the files and start Thunderbird.
These files are stored in the user's profile folder under
Thunderbird/calendar-data and consist of two files cache.sqllite, and
since SOGo lightning version-1.0b.106i, another much smaller file called
cache-acl.sqllite. Thunderbird normally takes about 10 mins to recreate
the cache files and is locked so nothing can be done with it at the
time, (for approx a 1.8MB cache file)

ie I think my problem is related to this bug report and mentioned a few
times separately by others on this mailing list
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1573. After looking at the
cache-acl.sqllite with sqllite browser, I previously believed that
there appeared to be issues with user permissions not tying up with real
calendar permissions on the SOGo server. I'm not a coder so can't try to
fix this myself.

So instead, I installed the plain Mozilla derived Lightning instead ie
1.0b2 (the only one that works with Thunderbird 3.1). What's interesting
is that this version only creates a single cache.sqllite file, no acl cache.

I strongly believe the the SOGo acl cache file is to blame for the
issues when new events don't get shown on the calendars as I never once
had this problem once with an earlier version of SOGo and addons from
around May to Oct last year. At this point the acl file didn't exist ion
the Inverse Lightning build

Other things I have noticed today. If you use the plain Mozilla build of
Lightning as above, when you delete the cache file and let Thunderbird
rebuild its calendar cache, it took took only 90s, instead of the 10
mins or so it takes with the SOGo Lightning - why ?? Also the plain
version doesn't hang the rest of Thunderbird; you can still write an
email browse your mail while the cache is being built with no slowing down.

The SOGo version of Lightning does add some very useful features ie an
Organiser of the event, and specific contact categories. I also noticed
that using the plain Mozilla version that you could attempt to write
into any calendar, even the ones you don't have permission to do so. But
when you try to save you get the usual 'Modification failed' message,
not particularly helpful. So there are downsides too

Comments? We're getting to the point we have to do something as whats in
peoples Thunder calendars isn't tying up with what's really on the
server - which its not good at all

Ditto for the calendars.

Customize your SOGo Integrator.

Since we are customizing the integrator do we also need to update the
updates.php on the server? I only ask because I do not want to update
all my users to the testing releases. Only a select few here in the IT
office do I want to test this.

I haven't changed my updates.php file, and the new addons work fine so far

Most of the phones I have tested would put entries on SOGo but
wouldn't pull from SOGo. So that lead me to search for PROPER caldav
access. Then I found a post here on the list pointing me to the CalDAV
sync-Beta by dmfs
(https://market.android.com/details?id=org.dmfs.caldav.lib). I must
say this has worked 100% on all of the devices I have tested it on.
Truly proper 2-way syncing and you can select any of your calendars on
SOGo not just your personal one. Also the color coding pulls down too.
I do not have any affiliation with the dmfs people, just a very happy
customer sharing my thoughts.

So if anyone is having half the trouble I was having with syncing
calendars on your android device, you need this app.

Yes, I would also say that I've been very pleased with this app. The
only thing that was missing for me was if I invite an attendee to a
meeting on the phone this wouldnt be pushed to SOGo. But this was about
the only thing. Also we had one colour (pink) for a calendar that didnt
show up as pink but as white, but these were really quite minor things ..

Likewise there is a carddav app and separate contact editor too from the
same people.

Its probably a good idea to update the FAQ, wiki on the inverse site
as I dont think they mention this app specifically, when it really
should be ..

 the issue.

We have approx 30 users using Thunderbird 3.1.x/Lightning for
calendars/tasks and have 5 WOWorkers with SxVMemLimit  set to 512MB;
previously set to 384MB with no problems like this for months.

Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server, with 2GB ram and a MYSQl db for SQL auth.

I've also seen lots of times recently the following :-

Jan 25 09:57:20 sogod [27399]: |SOGo| terminating app, vMem size limit
(512 MB) has been reached (currently 564 MB)
Jan 25 09:57:20 sogod [27376]: 0x0x26aa6f0[WOWatchDogChild] child
27399 exited
Jan 25 09:57:20 sogod [27376]: 0x0x272ff40[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 27721

Then, at around 8am each morning normally SOGo will check for existing
worker processes and restart them if necessary. But if I had issues with
SOGo processes having to restart the previous day, then I see errors as
below:

Trouble is its not really part of the caldav/carddav spec as far as I know.

Is there a Thunderbird addon you could use instead?

Yes that makes sense. But I don't want to keep raising the mem unless
there's a good reason for it. We never had these issues a while back.
I'd rather try to find what is making SOGo collapse so easily when
previously with less memory it was so robust

We have an application that fetches a ical (large file2000 entries)
file from sogo an this caused this issue every time. After I stopped
fetching this ical we don't have any more crashes with SxVMemLimit=1024
with less this still happens.
We AFAIK don't have anyone loading ical files. I'm still not totally
sure what is causing the excessive ram usage. Recently I did see one
worker getting killed, (first example in earlier email), when we had to
clear a Lightening cache and mem / cpu increased when Lightning was
loading all the events from the server anew : about a 1800kB cache file
(in Lightning). But this isnt that much really is it ? We only have 30
users, 5 calendars per user ..

Also when I try to export this calendar in the web interface the same
thing happens.
I posted this some time ago:

Yes I think I remember that one, but didnt have any useful suggestions

Seems to be a similar issue like I posted on 10th Jan, Subject Very
high Load by request of personal.ics, isn't it?

Maybe there is something on generating the ics ...

Possibly, but my problem with memory/CPU isnt occuring on ics
generation, its happening generally

ical-file == ics-file
So I did understand the issue.

I thought you specifically meant when exporting events in the web view
of the calendar, but I guess its the same issue really ...

Have you fixed something that had broke in an earlier vers 1.3.9 ? or is

I'm seeing some high numbers too on occasion ie

It's no longer true. I updated the FAQ. SOGo does handle SMTP error codes.

I think sometimes the FAQ is a little overlooked by everyone. Perhaps

Also following this mailing list, I am not sure if SOGo is ready to be
installed on a production platform. Many bugs are being reported. And
now I read that the Outlook connector is beta ? Now I know that our
friends at MS are not much different, releasing buggy software, and
patch it while they go... but it is production platform ready...

Well it is in beta, and when running an application like this in
production, you are far better waiting for Sogo 2.0.3 or whatever; let
others do some testing in real environments first. It depends how
'stable' you need your app to be I'd give it at least a couple of
months perhaps

But that said, I don't think it will be too long before it will be
perfectly usable as a real alternative.

Julian

This gives me cold feet when I consider SOGo as hosted eXchange
alternative. So I ask you in all honesty: is the entire SOGo project
ready for installing it on a production server, or not? What to
expect, and what not?

Looking forward to some constructive comments ;o)

Harry

No, it is in Beta state.
And Outlook users are not computer affine, which means you can't give
them beta products without an uproar.
(Not that you should roll out beta software at all ;-)

Could you share some opinions about it?

As you have to manage another identity provider by hand for it, there is
a lot of overhead in big environments (we have roughly 14 000 users).
So we will not use OpenChange in SOGo before Kerberos authentication is
available for it.

It provides access for Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010.
There are some known bugs, but it works nice for a beta already.

From a functionality point of view it will be ripe soon.

Just my 2 ct.

I have already increased my vmem size from 300 to 512MB and thought that
this had solved the issue, but it seems not. There weren't any
exceptional requests just before the server errors started, and the
whole server wasn't under any great load at the time.

As there is another mailing post with a similar issue again using 1.3.11
http://www.mail-archive.com/users@sogo.nu/msg07840.html, am just
wondering if there is a link to something that has changed. We had no
server errors really at all using 1.3.5 up to 1.3.9, with good
reliability but now keep getting them.

I have WOWorkers set to 5 in my main /etc config with only 30 users, so
believe easily have enough ram allocated and WOWorker processes available.

Any ideas?
Which version of the extensions are you using? IIRC we fixed such
issues in the latest

version of the extensions.

SOGo: 1.3.11
Thunderbird: 3.1.17, Windows XP 32 Bit
Lightning: 1.0b2.108i
Connector/Integrator: 3.108 (the version linked in the download area)
Ludovic, I have seen similar issues to this, ie where Thunderbird still
shows events that are deleted in Web calendar since 1.06 Integrator and
Connector (1.05 appears to be fine). I tried 1.08i Connector and
Integrator too but it made no difference.

Obviously this is quite a significant issue which has meant we've had to
hold back on releasing 1.06 + to everyone..

Hope you can help ... ?

changed it to 8 there also and now I see 8 processes.

If I'm not mistaken, this is where you have to change the worker count
when you are starting sogo with the init.d script; according to the
manual, if I remember correctly.

Could this help solve the issue? I know time will tell but since you
deal with it day in and day out you may know before anyone Ludovic.
Also, what is a reasonable number of WOWorkers to use on my setup?
Virtual machine with 4 cpu cores, 4GB memory and up to 200 people
 hitting it at once.

Not much experience, but I would start with four workers.

Well in the past 30 minutes the load has gone from around 0.10-0.20 on
average to 0.00 and the 15 minute load is at 0.01! I would say this
resolved the load issue at least. Now just to see if anyone has the
composition issue.
So it looks like I was on the right lines about defining WOWorkers in
the /etc config file not with the sogo home users GNUStep file. Its easy
to miss that with an init script (I know I said daemon but I was rushing
to leave at the time). The number of WOWorkers is mentioned in the log
on sogo start up,

ie 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] preparing 5 children
Nov 30 06:32:41 sogod [28032]: 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 28044
Nov 30 06:32:41 sogod [28032]: 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 28045
Nov 30 06:32:41 sogod [28032]: 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 28046
Nov 30 06:32:41 sogod [28032]: 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 28047
Nov 30 06:32:41 sogod [28032]: 0x0x2297ba0[WOWatchDog] child spawned
with pid 28048

Whereas by default, I think its just set to one WOWorker.

I still have my problem, but perhaps although sounding similar is
actually something quite different.

[SOGo] Downgrade Sogo server from 1.3.9 to 1.3.8b?

2011-11-30 Thread Julian Robbins

Hi

We're still having a few problems, difficult to track down where events
are not written correctly into the Thunderbird calendar/or caching is
working incorrectly, ie where events cannot be saved in a calendar or
always show fine in the web calendar.

I had no real issues in 1.3.8b and wished I'd stuck to that .. :-(

What's the view as to how straight forward it might be to downgrade a
SOGo install on an Ubuntu 10.04 server ? We would need to keep our
user's data in the MySQL server created in 1.3.9 though

Obviously I would test carefully offline first , but wondered what
everyone's view is or whether you've done this before ?

For the past few months since deploying thunderbird with the

reaches 1.00 and you try to compose a new email in thunderbird once
you get the first or second letter in the address bar and it just
hangs. To exit you have to close the window.

We've seen exactly this happen a few times, with same setup, ie sogo
with full connector/lightning/integrator plugins. But I don't think its
related to load (for us). We only have 35 users so the sogo server load
is usually pretty low.

We've found that Windows 7 users haven't reported this issue as yet,
wheras with XP its happened a few times. (We have no Vista users). But
this may be related to the specs of the machines being better with 7.
That said we have some uers with slow older Win XP machines that havent
seen this issue.

It appears that Thunderbird 3 is poor with respect to handling Address
Books via Card-dav. Its been mentioned on the list a few times before.
Thunderbird 2 was ok apparently.

Have you tried using the Sogo Integrator autocomplete delay adjustment
user_pref(sogo-connector.autoComplete.delay, 1300); as mentioned in a
bug report (sorry not got time to search for it). It helps stopping
double letters appearing but may be a bit high in regard to timeouts ...
We have it included in the Integrator config so its rolled out into
everyone's prefs.js thunderbird file.

When the load reaches that high it is always a single sogod process
eating up 98%-100% of one of the cpu cores. The machine is a Xen
paravirtualized machine with 4 cpu cores and 4GB ram allocated to it.
I have to stop and restart httpd/sogod/memcached to get the process to
behave.
Are you really using WO workers count correctly? You have to set it
somewhere in /etc/sogo not in the normal user's GNUStep conf file if
running as a daemon. It's in the manual, but easy to miss.

The high load affects all users no matter if they access via the web
interface or Thunderbird. The only ones not affected are the users
that use Thunderbird without the plugins. I have set the
WOWorkersCount to 8 for testing but that does not seem to have done
anything either way.
Generally web users aren't affected here, it always seems to work fine
for us.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be going on and/or what to do?
Since we are rolling this out to all users in one form or another (web
interface or thunderbird) now this is imperative I find out what's
going on soon. The logs don't seem to be any help at this point but I
am still digging through them. Thanks in advace for any help on this.
I couldnt see anything in the logs either on this either. Please let me
know if you get anywhere with this, if you find out anything offlist as
I'd like to know.

In 1.3.9, there is a means to set the default calendar. In Preferences,

Do you know a way to change the default calendar in the webinterface?

In 1.3.9, there is a means to set the default calendar. In Preferences,
Calendar Options, Default Calendar. You get a dropdown with options for
'Personal calendar', 'Selected Calendar' 'First Enabled calendar'

I think this pref only appeared in 1.3.9. If its not sowing up for you

Something wrong then, here. Are you certain you're looking in the right

I've looked for the address book, but I see the file abook.mab is a
few weeks old, and I have changed my address book today (via the web

Thunderbird again, all addresses are there and no new abook.mab is created.

Can somebody tell me where to find the cache files?

Maybe a point: I am using Icedove, thats a rebranded Thunderbird by
Debian. But so far I know it's exactly the same as Thunderbird, only the

Don't know, possibly, but sounds unlikely.

Otherwise try installing on winblows so at least you can get the hang of

You may have to recreate the cache files in calendar-data in your
users

Thunderbird profiles.

How do you do that?

In Linux, you'll find a .thunderbird in your users home dir, in Windows
type in %Appdata% in the run box and you get to your user's 'documents
and settings' folder. Go to Thunderbird. Then you'll see a
'calendar-data' sub folder.

In here you will see 2 (possibly 3) files.

 * cache.sqlite
 * caldav-acl.sqlite (possibly only seen with lightning 106i)
 * local.sqlite (if you had any calendar events stored locally in
   Lightning before)

I'm not an expert on this, but if you delete the .sqlite files (when
Thunderbird isn't running), and restart, then Thunderbird will recreate
these files again as a local cache of calendar events and tasks. This
might take a few minutes, and Thunderbird won't respond to normal
requests whilst its doing this.

Likewise the caldav-acl file (much much smaller in size) I believe is
the acl data, permissions on your lightning/sogo calendars.

You can of course look at these files, and edit them if you want with a
sqllite browser such as the GPL SQLite Database Browser In Linux and
Windows too.

I've found that if you get issues with broken calendars, quite often
its

because the cache data isn't the same as that on the server. The server
is likely to be correct. Sometimes, events are deleted from the sogo
server, but aren't properly deleted from the local cache, due to issues
with permissions.

This is a trick I use sometimes if I get problems, your mileage may
vary. I've also found that deleting the cache files helps if a user
somehow ends up upgrading to Thunderbird 7/8 with its newer lightning
version, and you need to go back to Thunderbird 3.1 with SOGo. I think
there was a significant change in working with acl between sogo
lightning builds of 105 and 106, and same in std lightning builds,
which

this can help correct, if necessary.

Might be handy if Inverse can comment or have any further docs on how
these cache files work, to better fully understand what happens.

Thanks for the information, this can be handy in case of problems.

But I don't think this is a nice upgrade path for my customers... There
are not so many, but this is complex to explain.

Not sure this happens all the time, I've tried it on two machines now,
and both have this problem. Are here other people who have this problem
or don't have this problem after upgrading to 3.106 ?

yep
While migrating from thunder 2 to thunder 3.16 we have a lot of
calendars which hangs with the 3.106 extension. the main thunderbird
interface does'nt show and the only way i have is to kill the
thunderbird process and destroy the sqlite files. Then i can restart
thunderbird.
What's more some calendars are very long to get their cache after
destroying it ( 20min for a 8Mo cache.sqlite ?) . the other
problem is that the main thread of thunderbird doesn't respond while
the extension is trying to get the cache.

i'm searching explications or solutions too
Yes, I've had similar issues with 3.106i Lightning. But only when a user
is writing to a calendar that isn't their personal calendar, and then
its not always reproduceable. But it happens quite a lot, certainly
causing issues. I've had to steer away from deploying 3.106i even though
I really want to get rid of the flickering/slow event updates because of
these errors above. But certainly your comments mirror exactly the
issues I see.

Perhaps, we should raise a bug about this as it is a real nuisance but
its a bit to unclear to really nail down well.

I did notice that when I opened the caldav-acl.sqlite with an SQL
browser that the permissions where incorrect, a value was missing where
a permission should have been set.

This may be possibly related to http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1453 ..

For me the migration is from extention 3.105 to 3.106 on the same

with the latest Thunderbird 3.1, I believe it's 3.1.16.

So are you saying you migrated with no issues ?

Strange that I don't read much in this group about this kind of problems.
There have been mentions of issues with either 1.3.9 SOGo, and/or
Lightning 3.106i. I think as they're normally deployed together, its not
completely clear if the issue is with Lightning 3.106i. But I believe it is.

I don't know Integrator, but without it, it's no problem.
Integrator is quite cool, the way you can upgrade all your Thunderbird
addons, or deploy configs for those and Thunderbird/Lightning. But yes,
once I remove it, I can only add local address books as required. The
problem is that it also removes the buttons that allow subscribing or
adding calendars in the calendar view, which is a right pain for me.
Something i dont want to lose.

I ask this because with Integrator/Connector Thunderbird wants to
connect to the address books on the SOGo server, whereas I don't want
any addr books to be on there (as Thunderbird 3.1 usage of carddav addr
books is quite buggy).

That's my experience too. Are here people who say: addressbooks and
Thunderbird 3.1 works good with me ?

There's been quite a few people who have had issues with this. We find
that Windows 7 users seems to be unaffected by the issues, with only Win
XP machines with issues. But then I also have XP machines where the
problem isnt seen. I would guess that the number of contacts in your
address book, might make a difference somehow, as it appears to be a
timing issue, with Thunderbird responding too slowly. There are also
issues with missing letters when the autoentry fill in of the user's
address book with addressbook contacts. I've set the config
user_pref(sogo-connector.autoComplete.delay, 1300); via Integrator to
user's prefs.js files as suggested by users on this list to mitigate
this error.

Maybe it's an idea to use read-only Sogo addressbooks in Thunderbird,
and do the editing of the addresses on the webinterface?

Possibly, but I cant do that here.

If I remove Integrator, then address books stay local; but then the
buttons to add SOGo calendars and ability to subscribe to a calendar are
lost from using the Calendars in Thunderbird ... I want them back . :-)

No, when you remove integrator you can subscribe to a Sogo calendar.
I think this was the case for me when I first setup SOGo and Thunderbird
and Lightning. But certainly now, if I remove Integrator, the buttons
for adding a calendar and subscribing to another user's calendar
disappear too. Perhaps I need to test with a completely clean profile..

You cannot create a new one in Thunderbird (so far I know), but you can
create a new one in the webinterface, and subscribe to it from Thunderbird.

Yes, this is the way I'll have to try for now.

Not that I've seen, but grabbing the nightly packages of sope did fix

But be careful that you don't end up with a mix of differing sope lib
versions; this has caught a few people out recently, leading to odd
issues. Remove all sope libs, and replace with newer nightly. Obviously,
using a nightly build is not really recommended so proceed with care

If you delete the sqllite acl file in Thunderbird's profile/calendar-data it

Re: [SOGo] Assistance with delegated e-mail and calendars not appearing

2011-11-09 Thread Julian Robbins
Hi Ian

Nice to see another UK user of SOGo ! ;-)

Firstly, sharing of email folders and sharing of calendars is completely different. I believe the sharing of mailboxes is done at the mail server end, ie in your dovecot config. (i do not use this so cant help too much here)

You should definitely be able to share calendars in the way you have described though. The permissions side of things can be confusing; have you read the FAQ to fully understand it ? http://www.sogo.nu/english/nc/support/faq/article/what-are-all-those-options-for-calendar-sharing-1.html

You can also setup further logging in sogo which might help, again this is in the FAQ and the manual

Hope this helps

If its just a mail spool, try and see if its readable. You can use
Evolution to read these mail spools AFAIK.

Also check permissions, perhaps you have one corrupted email in the
spool, that can't be read by SOGo

If you can't send email at all from SOGo web that implies a slightly

hmm...

is it good or o.k. to mix nightly sope packages with stable sogo?

Well no, but I had no option really . Also the stable packages are only
4 days older than the nightlies, so probably I imagine will have changed
very little ..

Hopefully inverse will release 1.3.9a to address this properly, as its a
real showstopper using tasks with MySQL. They say its 'Resolved',
fixed in 1.3.10 but that's not something that's released yet ..

[SOGo] Is there a way to stop showing reminders for a particular calendar for all users ?

2011-11-04 Thread Julian Robbins

Hello

We have 6 calendars and staff using the web interface get reminders for
other users events on one of the calendars (this calendar acts as a
resource which is invited for attendence)

Is there a quick way to disable showing reminders for a particular

You can simply get the nightly RPM of sope49-gdl1-mysql, install it
and restart SOGo:

http://inverse.ca/downloads/SOGo/CentOS5/nightly/i386/RPMS/sope49-gdl1-mysql-4.9-2004_1664.el5.1.i386.rpm

Probably have to do the same thing to /var/log/sogo (and contents).

Jeff

When I was having that problem after removing the stale sope packages
(and sogo by dependency), when I reinstalled I found (with Ludovic's
help) that the sogo user was removed and recreated with a new userid
(from 5007 to 5013). My sogo log directory (/var/log/sogo) was
created with a owner of sogo, but all the log files were created with
a owner of 5007 (old sogo user), so new sogo couldn't open the
logfile. I was seeing the same you are... sogod terminating
immediately after starting and leaving a stale pid. I would also see
the following line in /var/log/messages:

sogod[some number] unable to get status of descriptor 2 - Bad file
descriptor

Do you see that, as well? Anyway, the fix for me was to chown all the
log files in /var/log/sogo to sogo user (not by number). I suppose
you could also delete all the log files there if you don't need to
see them.

You can create events and view them with Thunderbird 7 and corresponding

from Thunderbird 7 ...

How can we use sogo-integrator to disable a Thunderbird (major) update ?
We have Integrator installed here already

I used this excellent guide to sogo where there show you how to set up
the config with a SQL database

Julian

I have a few basic questions about SQL authentication that were not
clear when reading installation guide:

- I have created a PostgreSQL database and a user as instructed, but
in the guide there was nothing about the actual data that should go in
the DB? Do I need to create some tables as well?

- Managing User Accounts talked about LDAP only. How do I create an
admin user with SQL?

- Is this the way SOGo is intended to be used:

   1. With SOGo web interface, after creating an admin user I create a
normal user
   2. I specify the IMAP credentials for this user in SOGo with the
admin user account
   3. Now the user can log into SOGo and see his email + new shared calendar

If so, this means that I need to manage two user databases, in the
IMAP server and in SOGo? And if a user changes his/her IMAP password
by not using SOGo but for e.g. external webmail, I am in trouble?

I have a feeling that I have not yet grasped all the principles of
this software package and I am missing some points here :)

Best regards,
Peter

Hello,

I am using Thunderbird and get sometimes invitations from other Sogo
users. Before I clicked on accept and it was OK, but since some time I
cannot accept or decline invitations anymore in the mail, the buttons
are missing. How can I change this?

(I am using the latest Sogo and Mozilla Lightning Inverse Edition.)

I have had the same issues. Its annoying when it happens.

Its a long story, but for now what I have done is to use the patch
mentioned in this bug post from inverse

http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=781

The patch works fine, but its a bit of a pain to implement as you have
to zip up the xpi files and locate and patch the files inside. I haven't
documented the process but will sometime.

The patch wasnt taken up by inverse at the time as it didnt work for
external users somehow, but I've seen no issues in that regard

[SOGo] Setting Calendars name and Colour

2011-09-15 Thread Julian Robbins

Hi

Is there a means to setup the colours of calendars plus the name that
you see when using the calendar in Lightning?

Also is there a way to only use a set of categories that can set on the
server rather than the default set with Birthdays, etc that isn't really
appropriate for a business?

Using 1.38b with up to date Thunderbird/Lightning , Sogo Integrator and
Connector

Hi there,

Just wanting to share a modification made on the lightning xpi :
inverting colors between the event category and calendar.

Right now, all is hard coded. If someone want to improve this adding an
option in the prefs, I just don't know how to do this...

These modifications have to be done inside the file /chrome/calendar.js

Hello

Seems interesting. On a related matter can you tell me how you manage to
build (and apply) a diff against several files in zipped archive such as
a xpi ? I need to do this to apply the 'patch' to make sogo work fully
with invite invitations and have only patched the various files in the
.xpi file manually ..

For now, by hands ^^ : un-zip ; apply patch ; re-zip...
I'm willing to make a script to automate this... but it is time consuming
and for the little modifications made on this... it is faster by hand !

Ok, I wondered if there was a super quick auto way to do this, but it
seems not. At least I know now. Thanks for getting back to me
