No, I had to add it. Maybe because I had done a "Minimal Install" from a
netboot image.

Doh! I did and I did not do correctly. I have a script I use to create the

[SOGo] Ubuntu 18, TB 60+, SOGo integrator/connector: Anyone?

2018-10-22 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
Greetings,

Has anyone managed to get SOGo integrator and connector on a vanilla
Ubuntu 18 LTS?

When I start TB lightning behaves as if I were running a local instance
of it. I don't see the SOGo addressbook, calendars or events.

This is what I did:

  * Install TB 60.2.1 via Ubuntu repo
  * Install lightning addon via the Ubuntu repo (xul-?-lightning)
  * Install sogo-*-60.xpi from the inverse nightly repo

TIA,

we – sys4 – deploy and support SOGo from 10 to 30.000 users. We have installed
it at small and medium-sized businesses, universities and at governmental
institutions.

Compared to other groupwares SOGo is easy to setup, stress-free and well
maintained. It could use better and more complete documentation, a man page,
better SMTP submission support (Port, Auth) and MANAGESIEVE-support. As it is
it only suppors writing SIEVE rules, which means it will happily overwrite
existing SIEVE rules or such added by a different software.

I still have the following issues using
sogo-integrator-60.0.0-deb1df061d-sogo-demo.xpi on Gnome 3:

 * I cannot unsubscribe a calendar in TB 60. If I unsubcribe using the

 * The focus in the calendar list is not restart safe. Once I restart
   TB the focus lands on the last calendar in the displayed list.

It works for me with TB 60 on arch-linux, except for the SOGo public
(global) adressbook, which doesn't show up in the TB adressbook. (It's
still there in the web interface)

Note: I had to set "extensions.strictCompatibility" back to "true" in TB
60, which I had set to "false" to temporarily to keep TB from disabling
a few useful other addons, calendars and events are available as
expected. This should be let at default anyway…

In fact it's not available right now on RHELv7 but it is available on
previous RHEL versions and 6.7 is still supported. It was never removed

Just like you we created a shared addressbook and then we wrote a nice little
script that exports all CardDAV contacts from that addressbook and imports
them into a dedicated DIT in our LDAP server.

This way we also get to use the contacts in our SIP-phones and other
applications.

Thunderbird is full of 32-bit stuff. We had to deal with that when we
sponsored IMAP SPECIAL-USE support a few years ago. Most of the money went
into removing, working around or fixing old cruft.

I am glad Thunderbird seems to have a future now. To me it could use a good
usabilty review. IMO this would enlarge the user base a lot.

[SOGo] Sieve problems: Could not delete Sieve script

2016-12-02 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
Greetings,

we're trying to edit and store Sieve rules using SOGo 3.2.1 on a Gentoo
server in combination with Dovecot. Editing and storing rules works as
expected if we use Roundcube. However if we use SOGo we get lines like this
one everytime we try to save them:

Dec 02 13:11:35 sogod [24721]: <0x0x2e76ac9cc0[SOGoSieveManager]> WARNING:
Could not delete Sieve script - continuing...: {RawResponse = "{ok = 0; }";
result = 0; }

On the filesystem I can see that ~MAILHOME/sieve/sogo.sieve is removed whenever
I try to save Sieve rules in SOGo.

The Dovecot managesieve server doesn't report anything unusal:

Dec  2 13:21:11 echo dovecot: managesieve-login: Login: user=<p...@sys4.de>,
method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=27252, TLS,
session=<lgc7+atCE41/AAAB>
Dec  2 13:21:11 echo dovecot: managesieve-login: Login: user=<p...@sys4.de>,
method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=27254, TLS,
session=<Utw8+atCFI1/AAAB>
Dec 2 13:21:12 echo dovecot: managesieve(p...@sys4.de): Connection closed
bytes=35/102
Dec 2 13:21:12 echo dovecot: managesieve(p...@sys4.de): Connection closed
bytes=0/17

SOGo has been configured to use Sieve like this:

  SOGoSieveServer = "sieve://127.0.0.1:4190/?tls=YES";
  SOGoSieveScriptsEnabled = YES;
  SOGoSieveFolderEncoding = UTF-8;

The TLS connections doesn'T seem to be the problem. I don't use foldernames
that would require UTF-8.

Any ideas?

 The Deleted Items folder can hold pretty much anything (mails,

Should it be the SPECIAL-USE 'trash' folder instead?

[SOGo] Immense log growth: SoDebugKeyLookup/SoDebugBaseURL?

We're experiencing immense log growth since our last SOGo update. Last night it
filled the whole partition. Currently we run 2.0.2-1 on Ubuntu. What I see in

enabled!
2012-11-13 08:54:58.635 sogod[21644] Note(SoObject): SoDebugBaseURL is enabled!

1. I can't find these options documented anywhere.
2. It seems I can't turn them off in
/home/sogo/GNUstep/Defaults/.GNUstepDefaults

ATM I suspect these two options to be the cause for the fast log growth.

What do I need to do to disable both options?
Will this decrease log size as desired?

I had a typo in .GNUstepDefaults for option SoDebugBaseURL. Now that I have

Are they logged before SoDebugBaseURL=NO is enforced or is the log message
wrong and should be fixed?

Also, is it normal for SOGo to have SoDebugKeyLookup and SoDebugBaseURL

 SOGo will open one connection per child sogod process, if needed. If
 you had 10 users modifying their script at the same time (ie.,
 saving the preferences) and 10 sogod processes running, that could
 happen.

Logs indicate there was only me/my client doing managesieve actions when the
limit was reached. I'll investigate when I find time. For the moment raising

Same here. I don't see how a webmail client will replace my desktop client in

 Since Mozilla is now trying even harder to kill Thunderbird (
 https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Proposal:_New_Release_and_Governance_Model
  ), are there any alternative mail clients that are platform independent and
 support Cal-/CardDAV?

 What do you mean? That article only reads to me that Mozilla isn't
 itself interested in making enhancements to Thunderbird, but will
 continue to maintain it for security updates and community
 contributions. This sounds fine to me because, besides LDAP editing
 directly in Thunderbird, and a revamped address book (which is in
 the works) what else does it even need?

Things that come to mind:

- SIEVE and managesieve support
- IMAP ACL support including a GUI to manage ACLs
- a protocol independent addressbook
- CardDAV support for addressbook
- read/write LDAP support for addressbook incl. a cache for offline usage
- notes
- a reasonable way to set/entforce company wide policies for business use
- enhanced autoconfiguration

 It sounds to me like there's no cause for alarm.

Everyone is moving to the cloud. Applications become web-applications. People
like web applications because they don't need to configure them. They only
need to login. Browsers are becoming universal clients executing any kind of
application you can think of. Look at what the recent years added to browsers:
Offline caches, HTML 5, ability to run C-code applications within the browser.

The days of many desktop clients are counted. It makes sense for Mozilla to
drop the desktop client Thunderbird. It's time they moved on. Mozilla is the
OSS Desktop Client Company per se and desktop clients are a dying species.
That probably explains why they gather all ressources around Firefox OS.

My problem with them dropping Thunderbird is, I don't see some important
problems solved that should be solved before everyone uses webclients.
Webclients assume you are always online, but - at least in Germany - being
always online still is more of a marketing promise than a usable reality.

I don't see how I would always have enough bandwidth to download everything
required to run a fat web client that does mail. Neither do I see my browser
being able to do what a mail client can do in offline mode. How would you use
your mail/groupware client when you are offline in a browser? Tell a sales
person he will have to use a webclient that does mail to download contract
papers while he's on the road somewhere in the outback…

But then - I was told so - that's not a problem for Mozilla because they never
promised Thunderbird would be a good business mail client. Mozillas target
group for Thunderbird was/is private users. So by their standards they aren't
breaking a promise.

Problem is: Thunderbird seems to be the only acceptable mail client that runs
on all desktop platforms. When it will be gone costs will increase if you need
to provide a groupware/mail client on more than one platform.

The big question for me is: Thunderbird seems to play a major role in SOGos
client model. What will SOGo/inverse do? Fork Thunderbird and maintain a
dedicated SOGo client? Forget Thunderbird and focus on the web user interface?

If you at Inverse think I need to subcribe a business support contract to get

[SOGo] Syncing Multiple Calendars with Funambol to Outlook

We just deployed a SOGo install for a customer and I noted only the Personal

It is possible to sync multiple calendars with the Funambol Sync Client to

 Well, yes. sope4.9-gdl1-mysql currently 'recommends' mysql-server.
 I just committed a fix for that. The package now 'suggests' it.

 If you need your sogo install to work with postgresl, do it like this:

 SOGo Users,

 I am pleased to announce automx, a tool that makes setting up a mail account
 easy. All your users need to provide is real name, mail address and password.
 Their mail client and automx will safely handle the rest.

 automx runs on your server and handles mail account profile requests from
 your

 standards in one powerful Open Source tool. Choose from many backends,

 profiles for multiple domains on the fly!

 automx is Open Source software released under GPL3.

Glad you like it!

automx unifies two proprietary standards from Microsoft and Mozilla. Both
use http(s) for client and server communication. Mozilla uses a GET request
and transmits a mail address. Microsoft uses a POST request and sends an XML
file which may contain more than a mail address.

Microsoft and Mozilla send their data to different URLs. That makes it easy to
tell them apart and return something they will accept as account profile. In
either case the server (automx) sends an XML response. You can use the
automx-test comnand line tool to see what automx turns back like this:

 Great tool,
 i don't find redhat rpm but i read Packaged for Debian, Gentoo,

ARGH!

 Oversight?

Sorry. Text in the future. RPM yet to arrive. Should be there in a week.
If you can't wait use the TAR file. There are only a few dependencies.

 Cool! I'm still not 100% sure what the tool does: It would be enough to
 know your name, mail and password to setup an account? And that in a
 couple of different mail clients, right?

Exactly. As simple as that.

 So if I already setup mozillas autoconfig
 (https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Thunderbird/Autoconfiguration) and
 only use Thunderbird, it would be the same result, wouldn't it?

Yes, with the two significant differences:

- automx is ONE TOOL that provides service for clients (TB, KMail, Kontact and
  - rumor - some Android mobiles) following MOZILLAs standard and clients
  (Outlook 2003+, MS Mobiles) following MICROSOFTs way of client account
  profile provisioning.
- automx can serve dynamic profiles for many domains i.e. not only one static
  file, but e.g. lookup user specific settings in a database or LDAP server
  and return a profile especially built for that one user/group.
  You can, for example, have two MDAs (Exchange/SOGo) and tell group A to use
  Exchange and group B to use SOGo.
  You can also script it. Take a look at the section_filter feature. The dark
  side of provisioning it leads you to ... ;)

[SOGo] ANN: automx - automated mail account configuration

2012-02-29 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
SOGo Users,

I am pleased to announce automx, a tool that makes setting up a mail account
easy. All your users need to provide is real name, mail address and password.
Their mail client and automx will safely handle the rest.

automx runs on your server and handles mail account profile requests from your
mail clients. It unifies Microsofts and Mozillas mail account provisioning
standards in one powerful Open Source tool. Choose from many backends,
including LDAP and SQL, and let automx create standard and individualized
profiles for multiple domains on the fly!

automx is Open Source software released under GPL3.

 AFAIK Windows Phone 7 does not have CalDAV support but it does support
 Google cal (over ActiveSync I think).

There's a z-push script collection flying around. Maybe that would work.

Re: [SOGo] Migration from an existent PostFix + OpenLdap directory

2012-02-04 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
* Carlos Paz users@sogo.nu:
 let me describe it a bit more:

 1. I want to migrate 1000 mailboxes (around 40 Gb) from an old Postfix
 server to a new server with Sogo 1.3, is there any tool or procedure to
 acomplish that?

Postfix (SMTP) means transporting and storing mail on a server. How do you
deliver it to clients? IMAP? POP?

If you have IMAP, then IMAP is the way to go.

 2. The 1000 mailboxes are binded to LDAP, so I think I will need to migrate
 them from the old Openldap directory to Sogo. Also I'm looking for a tool
 or any procedure to complish that.

Assuming you have IMAP on the old server:

1. Setup your new LDAP/SOGO server including its IMAP component.
2. Use imapsync http://freecode.com/projects/imapsync to copy messages
   including their state (unread/read and other tags) to the new machine.
   If you use dovecot on both sides, consider using dsync to sync mailboxes.

If you run imapsync/dsync regularly you can conduct a soft migration without
anyone noticing. Just let the sync process run regularly. It will copy over
everything the first time and only fetch the delta in successive runs.

 Thanks in advance for any help.

   1. everything works!
   2. we need to define stubs/hooks (ideas provided are good so far)
   3. we need to implement stubs/hooks - in the SOGo code

[SOGo] ZEG limitations

2011-12-21 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter

Will ALL currently Known Issues or Limitations of Version 2.0.0beta3 be gone
when the stable 2.0 will be released?

I am asking because a customer is interested to hook their Outlook clients to
a groupware server and I'd recommend SOGo if some of them will be gone in the
near future.

The stoppers on my list are:

- You cannot have access to shared resources (calendars and address books) nor
  can you share your resources from Microsoft Outlook.
- All mail folders other than the “Inbox”, “Drafts” and “Sent Items” will be
  located under the “Inbox” folder. It is possible to create mail folders only
  underneath the “Inbox” folder.

Note: This seems like a Cyrus IMAP feature/limitation to me. Would
it be gone if SOGo where to use Dovecot instead?

- It is not possible to rename or delete mail folders.

Regards

[SOGo] sieve: Proxy Error

2011-12-13 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
I'm having problems activating SIEVE rules on my sogo 1.3.11 (I had them on
previous versions too) and I am kind of stuck debugging this.

Creating a SIEVE rule is no problem. I can add another SIEVE rule (currently
about 60 rules) and save it. But when I choose to activate the rule and save
and close it, I get a proxy error:

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST
/SOGo/so/p...@state-of-mind.de/preferences.
Reason: Error reading from remote server

The log notes:
Dec 13 15:11:36 sogod [13851]: 0x0x1a84e80[WOWatchDogChild] child 27183 exited
Dec 13 15:11:36 sogod [13851]: 0x0x1a84e80[WOWatchDogChild]  (terminated due
to signal 11)
Dec 13 15:11:36 sogod [13851]: 0x0x1b499a0[WOWatchDog] child spawned with pid
28043

Then the sogo.sieve rules file is gone. As soon as I disable the new rule
sogo.sieve is created:

 LDAP-based personal address books are not yet supported. Let me know if you
 and your organization are interested in sponsoring the development. We
 already did the exercise to evaluate the efforts required to implement this
 feature.

We, state of mind, are one of the two sponsors for that feature. More
sponsors are welcome!

2011-11-30 Thread Patrick Ben Koetter
Greetings!

Is it possible to have multiple SOGo instances running on multiple Servers
share one database on one machine?

 Shure.
 But the performance of this DB server has to be appropriate.

Can you share any numbers regarding concurring users etc.?

 is 127.0.0.1/32 in mynetworks / is it a trusted source for sending mail?

The error says: cannot send message: (smtp) originator not accepted
This is a client issue (cannot send) not a server problem (cannot
accept/receive).

I would take a look at the sogo.log. It should say why it can't send or why
Postfix won't accept the message.

In the meantime I was able to make some progress!

1. Aliases in :addresses
I can enable vacation IF I reduce the number of :addresses.
My list of aliases in LDAP currently has 13 aliases. I reduced them in the
SOGo interface to one and was able so store my vacation rule right away. AFAIK
there should be no limit to :addresses. So maybe there's a bug hiding
somewhere.

2. Escaping
For testing purposes I entered a dot . into the textarea that holds the
vacation reply and SOGo failed to store the sieve rules including the vacation
reply. Is there some escaping missing?

To me this isn't a sieve error. The problem seems to be that the SOGo client
does not check subfolders. Of course this becomes a problem the moment you
start using sieve filters with its :fileinto capability, because then you
start noticing the client doesn't notice ...

 I was oriented towards http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA and other HowTo's.
 Anything I have forgotten? Dovecot and so managesieve is running with the

Unless you don't see any errors in the mail.log you should be fine.

 smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_hostname

You have this:

smtpd_recipient_restrictions =
permit_mynetworks,
permit_sasl_authenticated,
reject_unauth_destination,
reject_invalid_hostname,
reject_unknown_sender_domain,
check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:10023

I recommend rearranging and adding some options at the beginning. They assure
you only send mail that actually can be transported to other hosts:

smtpd_recipient_restrictions =
reject_non_fqdn_sender,
reject_non_fqdn_recipient,,
reject_unknown_sender_domain,
reject_unknown_recipient_domain,
permit_mynetworks,
permit_sasl_authenticated,
reject_unauth_destination,
reject_invalid_hostname,
check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:10023

 smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes
 smtpd_sasl_local_domain =
 smtpd_sasl_path = smtpd
 smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
 smtpd_sasl_type = cyrus

$smtpd_sasl_type defaults to cyrus. You don't need to set it.

 smtpd_sender_restrictions = reject_non_fqdn_sender,
 reject_unknown_sender_domain

Drop smtpd_sender_restrictions if you follow my recommendation from above on
smtpd_recipient_restrictions.

 smtpd_tls_auth_only = yes
 smtpd_tls_cert_file = ssl pem
 smtpd_tls_key_file = ssl key
 smtpd_tls_security_level = may
 smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache

So far so good. You might want to spend more time adding more anti-spam stuff.
Your sending problem could/should be gone once you localhost in
$mynetworks with 127.0.0.0/8.

If not run the Postfix smtpd daemon verbose by adding '-v' at the end of the
line that invokes smtpd in master.cf. You should probably send the output to
the Postfix mailing list. If you want help in German subscribe
postfix-us...@de.postfix.org. I will be there ... ;)

  My configuration of the postfix parameters mydestination and mynetworks

  mydestination: my domains, localhost
  mynetworks: localhost, my IP, my domain
  What should be changed in order to send email via SOGo. Everything works
  fine using Roundcube or directly connecting to SMTP server via other

 Maybe you should explicitly use 127.0.0.1 in mynetworks.

 Otherwise, is permit_mynetworks appears in smtpd_client_restrictions?

Sorry, if I interrupt. You won't get the picture if you ask for
permit_mynetworks or anything alike if you don't know about other options that
control how restrictions are evaluated.

  Forward and Vecation use manage sieve scripts.
  you may not have manage sieve daemon running in your server.

 I do have managesieve running successfully for 2 years. It's rockstable.

 If I enable automatic vacation replies the error occurs.
 If I disable automatic vacation replies the error does not occur.

 can you also confirm, that calendar and addressbook sharing is not
 working anymore now?

I can't confirm that part of the problem.
I was able to subscribe already existing calendars and addressbooks.

  Does the mail domains of your users addresses match the domains used in
  your
  configuration file of SOGo? If they do match, change them. For example,
  instead of using prodex.sk, use prodex-sk. As long as you don't use the
  new SOGoLoginDomains setting, the domains keys defined in your
  .GNUstepDefaults are never shown.

  Confirmed. Once I changed the domains name to differ from SOGoMailDomain I
  could login again.

  Is this change intentional and I missed to read the relevant documentation
  or
  is it a bug?
