So, IredMail just an admin frontend for some backend solutions, but

No, that would be iRedAdmin-Pro (commercial). iRedMail itself is free,
open source, and basically makes it easy to install everything and get
it working together.

Personally I prefer doing it myself (I like postfixadmin for managing my
user db), but nothing wrong with iRedMail.


I prefer one of any text editor :)

Which is fine if you only have a few users, but for a large 
installation, a DB is a necessity, and you can't manage a (real) DB 
with a text editor.


My users in Samba AD. Postfix and Dovecot configurations are in a text file.
ldif files (if necessary) can create with any editor. But you are right, 
a domain member windows with server admin tools is better than an editor 
for manage AD users :)

Not the imap/smtp connection the problem.

Externam users through EAS cannot authenticate to SOGo with they email 
address, only just their uid (cn - exactly).
When the user fill the first page on his mobile device (email and 
password), and push the next, the autodiscover try to find his email 
provider with various methods. One of the is the SRV DNS record, what is 
point to my server.

When the autodiscover find it, send a POST request to it with this data:

problem), restart Thunderbird, then fix the problem calendars by
changing one (or both) of the Prefs in the config editor (filter on
'calendar.reg', then find the calendar, and change .disabled (and

The first point: what is your MTA?
Most of cases it is the Postfix.

/etc/postfix/main.cf usually have a line with 'message_size_limit = 
x'. If there isn't, then you can create it at the end of the config 
file in a new line.
The  value is byte precision, so, if you want to set up a 32MB size 
limit, you need to set it to 32+1024+1024 = 33554432
So, your line will like 'message_size_limit = 33554432' based on this 
example.
/Do not forget the trailing LF character (enter at the end of this 
line), if you use the mcedit!/


BUT!

Attachments on emails usually binary files - e.g. pictures, pdf files, 
archives, spreadsheets, word documents, etc. -, so, the mail clients 
(webmails too) will put them into mail body with base64 encoding, where 
one byte will be split. Exactly 3 bytes will be fit 4bytes in this encoding.


So... If you have 32MB message limit, you can't attach bigger 
attachments than 24MB into one mail.
Most of cases this limit is ~23MB, because the mail will have more parts 
(header lines, message body, etc.) - and the size of multiple 
forwarded/replied mails is bigger and bigger every time, when they 
forwarded or replied, and some people has email signatures with in-line 
pictures.


Conclusion: the message size limit in postfix (and in other MTAs too) is 
never equals the possibly maximum size of attachments in the mail. Good 
to know that!

deafults read sogo | grep ...

If the result is differs than root's settings, then your system is 
misconfigured.
The best practice is create a symlink from the sogo user's ~/GNUstep to 
root's ~/GNUstep as root (ln -s ~sogo/GNUstep ~GNUstep).


Other reason the different configs (GNUstep and sogo.conf).
Please do this (as root):

sudo -u sogo sogo-tool dump-defaults /etc/sogo/sogo.conf
service sogo restart

If you get '1 OK' after login, then it's OK.

After then you need to check the sogo.conf about the bind and user 
filter. The settings let the similar with dovecot's config.

Restart services what are modified, and try again the login.

PS: check your postfix's LDAP settings, and correct it too based on the 
working dovecot config. Word of advice: if you try to modify anything, 
then you need to modify only one thing in one time, then try, and check 
the logs, if it doesn't help. Don't modify more parameters at same time! 
Do backup from the config before save the modifications for easy 
correction the wrongest way than previous.

If you use apache, why don't you use SNI configuration and standard 
TCP/443 instead of 8443? It's working fine, if you don't need 
IE6/Android 2.x compatibility.
If you put the full SOGo.conf into a virtualhost container, it will 
working fine.

Hi Michael,

It's not an error message, just a warning and it's absolutely normal.
Your webmail under an SSL layer - perfect.
When you enable the pictures (or other remote links) in your actually 
viewed mail, the http content will contain some external links with 
http://; references, and your protected page will contain links to any 
unprotected elements - this is the reason of the warning.

If you click the ! sign on your browser, then you get details.

What about getting rid of LDA and configuring LMTP directly in my 
local.conf?


Why do you prefer the lmtp instead of lda? Is it 
better/safer/quicker/anything?
Did you set the postfix for LMTP (local_transport = lmtp:hostname:port) 
and disable the lda?

Did you check the port listening (fuser/netstat)?
Did you see the logfiles (mainly apparmor entries)?

Try to use TCP instead of UNIX socket.

If you use socket, you need to add rights to dovecot (member of postfix 
group?), and check the postfix: how it's working - chrooted/not.

I think you can use TCP what listens only on localhost.

What phone are you using? What are the EAS related setting values in

Android 4.4.2 stock EAS client.
I think all EAS related parameters are in default. I'm affraid it is my 
problem.

[SOGo] Problem with AS


Hi Guys,

We have the weird problem with some clients of us.
The problem is exists on my mobile (Android/4.4.2-EAS-1.3) and on my 
older daughter's mobile (4.2.2-EAS-1.3) - and doesn't exist on my wife's 
mobile (4.2.2-EAS-1.3 too), so I don't know, what is wrong.


When I set up the AS client, the mails/contacts/calendar were 
synchronised correctly, but the folders were duplicated on the folder 
list. On my daughter's mobile the folders were multiplied (4-5-6 times), 
when I changed the period of synchronization. On my mobile always have 
max. two copies.
Some times the folder-list seems as normal, but doesn't contain any 
mails... When they are multiplied, the first one keeps the mails, the 
other ones are empty.


My wife hasn't this problem, and I don't know why - she hasn't any 
sub-folder. But my daughter and me have.


This problem has existed since upgraded my system to 2.2.10 - actually 
we use 2.2.11a, but the problem still alive.

Did you try to clear all ActiveSync meta data on the SOGo server with

You're absolutely right! All of problematic users have the 127 in the 
c_type field. My wife has 200 and 201 values



This was caused by a bug which was fixed some time ago, but old cache entries 
migth still have the wrong value.


How can I purge them with keep the database in consistent state?


Can you please post the content of the table: sogo_cache_folder_username.


Are you sure? My table has 106 columns... But all problematic user has 
the value 127 in c_type column in every row. I checked it.



You can try to identify the deviceId from sogo.log and then use following 
command to reset the device:
sogo-tool manage-eas resetdevice youruser deviceId found in sogo.log


I have found my id in my phone, and checked it in the log, and already 
tried this step. It didn't help :(

What always should work is toemove the account from the device, delete 
sogo_cache_folder_username and after that recreate the account on the device.


Truncate the table not enough (I tried that first), I needed to drop the 
problematic tables. They are recreated, and everything looks like OK.

Just a trying:

- Connect your SOGo server through ssh.
- Access the IMAP protocoll via telnet *ternet localhost 143
*- Try to login with a valid username and a fake password (eg. if you 
góhave an user called admin): *1 LOGIN admin F@k3Passw0RD*


If you cannot login, then your problem is identified. I think the 
ActiveSync needs successful login with any password on localhost (same 
as through rpc proxy).

If you have dovecot, then use the following lines in your config:

   *passdb {*
   *  driver = static*
   *  args = nopassword=y allow_nets=127.0.0.1/32*
   *}*

And then restart dovecot.

Yes, that is your problem.

You have to set option PREFORK in either /etc/sysconfig/sogo or
/etc/default/sogo to the number of workers you want to use.
The value of WOWorkersCount in sogo.conf or GNUstepDefaults is
overwritten by the start script /etc/init.d/sogod.


This helped me too :)
Christian, did you know what is the best practice for calculating 
WOWorkersCount/PREFORK values?


An example:
There is 15 user with Thunderbird/ActiveSync access (more user connected 
through two device simultaneously at the same time).
The server has 4cores, 2,5GB memory. 15 WOWorkers are too much, or 
enough, or too less?

How can I calculate it?

Check your /etc/apache2/mods-enabled directory:
Does it have authnz_ldap.load symlink?

If doesn't then you need to load it:

a2enmod authnz_ldap
service apache2 restart

If does, you haven't need to do anything, that error was just in the
middle of the installation process.

load the right apache module

check the certificate properties, just accept it, yes, if it is a fake 
one, then they accept it too.

this did the trick, sogoadmin is now a sogo admin..

Did you see your dovecot pigeonhole settings? Are you sure about the 
TCP/2000?
I think the TCP/2000 is deprecated in the Dovecot 2.x (but usable in its 
config). The new default port is 4190 AKAIK.


Check your config and use the right port is sogo.conf.

Check:
netstat -an | egrep '0\.0\.0\.0:(4190|2000) '

If your result contains two lines (or contains the 0.0.0.0:2000) then 
your settings are ok, and your problem is different what I though.
If your result is only the 0.0.0.0:2000 then you need to use the 
TCP/4190 instead of TCP/2000 in your sogo.conf.

If your result has no lines, then your install doesn't have sieve service.

Or.

Your sogo.conf has invalid settings.
The tight syntax is:

SOGoSieveServer = sieve://127.0.0.1:2000;

!Without any spaces between the quotes.
