You can thank Konstantin Preißer for the update: he's been working
hard to clean-up the markup and apply more modern styling to the site.

In his own words[1], Konstantin is not a designer but was motivated
to make things better. If anyone knows any designers who would like to
lend their talents to the Tomcat team, there's definitely a place for
patches that simply make things look nicer and don't contain any code.

Let me re-phrase that in simpler, more direct language, because I
think it bears repeating:

There is always a place at the ASF for non-programmers. The ASF's
philosophy is community over code and thus the community is clearly
the focus. Part of supporting communities is being inviting, and
things like pleasing site layouts, clear, concise, and navigable
documentation, etc. are critically important. Those without
programming expertise can play a vital role in our community by
providing feedback and -- even better -- design and documentation
patches. Every little bit counts. Please don't be shy about lending
your (plural!) personal expertise to the community.

Oh, and the plan is to spread that change to the version-specific
Tomcat documentation, too.

Thanks for the feedback,
