As being one of the devs on gmap contrib, id also say that it seems as
gmap2 are more developed than gmap original(I have only worked on this
for a specifc project)... However functionality could be very different,
havent checked all details on gmap2...

management works quite well I always sort of feel quite stupid to come up
with an extra release branch for another wicket release. But I did it

I tried to run the examples of gmap2 today (no time for the code yet).
Just as an experiment I compiled gmap2 against the wicket 1.3.1 release
instead of the documented Wicket trunk. The examples work, so I guess it
is possible to change the dependency.
