You can also use
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Xinit. It is
developed by our infrastructure team.

Let's assume you use Tomcat as a Java Container. When you install tomcat
from the repositories, you install also a script to start the Java
Container, it's usually /etc/init.d/tomcat6
