Re: [xwiki-users] Why do version numbers increment when nothing has changed in a save?
On Nov 22, 2007, at 8:55 AM, William Lesguillier wrote: When I click edit on a XWiki page and Save and View or Save and Continue, without making any changes, a new version number is created. This is contrary to existing conventions in SVN, which will intelligently check whether there are any modifications that would warrant a new version number. Is this a fundamental different view of the XWiki development team or is it a technical difficulty or simply something that has not been implemented yet? It's just not implemented yet. I have wanted to fix this for a long time but have never actually taken the time to do it. I'd like this too. Also, it would be nice to prevent the creation of a new version on multiple edits within a short time. These are the typical edits when you forgot something, spotted a misspelled word, just wanted to see if everything looked fine in saved view etc... A good rule is creating only one new version for all the edits one user made within the same hour. It would make revision history cleaner and more usable. We do have this already implemented. It's called minor edits and it's in 1.2. -Vincent ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Following the message received in users and devs lists at xwiki.org last November the 19th I've downloaded and installed XEclipse 1.0. This utility looks simply great! Thanks to the develpers. The ability to work off-line (grab sites into local machine) and to receive warning about possible conflicts when syncing with server are key features for a wide adoption of XWiki for some research groups I'm working with. At the moment, we are mainly using MacBook computers running Mac OS X 10.5.1 with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05-237) and Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-119, mixed mode, sharing) I am able to launch XEclipse as a standalone RCP application and connect to the server. The first time I connect, I get a number of folders with no name except for the Panels space. If I close XEclipse and relaunch it, only the Panels folder is shown. I use Mac OS X 10.5.1 with Europa 3.3.1.1 so this should not be the problem. Actually I see from the screenshot that you are working online so it might be a communication problem through the XMLRpc interface. Could you please tell us what XWiki version are you connecting to? In this way we could investigate the problem also on the server side. Thank you.
