[xwiki-users] can't start xwiki

2010-08-09 Thread Susan Wall
I downloaded xwiki enterprise stand alone for windows. I double click
the Start xwiki icon and the dos window pops open briefly. When I point
my browser to http://www.localhost:8080/, I get a network error. What am
I missing here?

Something is definitly wrong but that isn't enough information to go on.
Can you start xwiki from the command line? Open the command line and navigate to
where the xwiki exe file is and run it. Maybe it will output something which
makes some sense
before dieing.

I would say there's no exe, if I remember correctly, there's a .bat file
-- start_xwiki.bat if I'm not wrong (so if you don't find an exe don't
panic, just run the .bat).
What windows version are you trying this on? I could give it a shot as
well on my 7 to see what happens...

Thanks,

Re: [xwiki-users] can't start xwiki

2010-08-09 Thread afra

From the information you supplied I'd suggest your URL is wrong. Try calling
your wiki with:
http://localhost:8080/
Normally this points to your Webserver home (if you configured it to run on
port 8080). Usually you'll have your wiki run in a subdirectory e.g. /xwiki.
Thus your URL would be http://localhost/xwiki.
Since I didn't use the standard setup exe of XWiki I cannot tell you the
standard path it installs itself to but I hope this information helps.

2010-08-09 Thread Florin Ciubotaru
Hi Susan,

Your server window is probably closing because the application cannot write
files to disk(Eg: using Program Files folser).

You either need to install xwiki into another folder or run the server as
Administrator.
After that you should be able to use the wiki by typing
http://localhost:8080 into the browser.

[xwiki-users] Centrally aligning tables?? and creating directory tree

2010-08-09 Thread Kaya Saman
Hi there,

finally after managing to get XWiki installed on my FreeBSD system I am
trying to create a tree where information will go under according to the
specific type and heading:

Basically what I'm after it this:

Main - Howto's - FreeBSD
 Solaris
 OpenSolaris
 Linux

So far I managed to get the desired affect by: creating a new space
called Howto's and then linking in the rest of the items as pages
spanning downwards from the main root in the tree is this correct or
can I created spaces within spaces??

Also I am wondering how to centrally align a table? I have attempted the
following syntax as I couldn't find any graphic buttons on the editor to
perform the task:

(% style=table-align=center %)
|image:freebsdlogo2.png||alt=freebsdlogo.png style=display:
block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width=400]]FreeBSD]]
  |image:logomed2.jpg||alt=logomed.jpg style=display: block;
margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width=400]]Linux]]
|image:solarislogo2.png||alt=solarislogo.png height=208
style=display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;
width=400]]Solaris]]|image:OpenSolarisLogo2.gif||alt=OpenSolarisLogo.gif

style=display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;
width=400]]OpenSolaris]]

This however doesn't work as the table is still left aligned???

Any advise is much appreciated as I am struggling to find much
documentation on this wiki at all and what is around seems to be really
lean. If I manage to get as far as creating what I want with a custom
look then I will definitely create a manual on it as that's my intention
for the WiKi in the first place!!

Many thanks,

Kaya

I'm not sure how to help you with this. You could try using Firebug to
change styles affecting a table in view mode and then using the resulting
code to achieve the desired effect in wiki syntax.

That would be very nice of you. XWiki definitely needs more documentation
and every helping hand matters! We'll be looking forward to your
contribution on XWiki.org

[xwiki-users] Edit this attachment feature not working in Windows 7

2010-08-09 Thread Meng Wu
Hey,

We've had problems with this feature opening documents in read-only mode
instead
of editable mode when users are running windows 7 (this might be a WebDAV
interface problem). It is not a browser problem because running IE8 on windows
xp works. Has anyone had this problem and is there already a JIRA bug filed?

Thanks,

Felix

[xwiki-users] Wysiwyg Application Translation

2010-08-09 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

How can I translate the Wysiwyg application into portuguese? I've noticed that
there's the editor core resources file (Strings.properties) content on
http://l10n.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Wysiwyg/ , but I cannot understand how I
proceed with it with my running instance (where do I place it etc).

What should I do to enable this?

Regards,

Ramon Gomes Brandão
