[xwiki-users] RES: ERROR: XWiki 3.0M1 + Postgres + JBoss4.3 not working

2011-05-18 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I've got it working. For PostgreSQL, in xwiki.db property from xwiki.cfg, it
should be leaved commented out since the database name is already specified in
the postgresql connection URL from hibernate.cgf.xml. If you specify anything
on that property in xwiki.cfg, hibernate tries to connect to a schema that
doesn't exist, other than the public created by default on the xwiki database
by postgresql, following the instructions on Admin Pages of XWiki.org.

I would suggest to add this note on XWiki Postgresql instrucutions page at
XWiki.org, since this is NOT documented elsewhere. The relation between
xwiki.db option and connection URL, for the Postgresql case, is confusing and
poor documented. I've spent two days figuring this out.

Ramon Gomes Brandão

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a fresh install of XE 3.0 on a JBoss 4.3 + Postgres 8.3
production environment. XE application deploys, but it does not start at all
when I point the browser to it.

The stack trace root cause is: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR:
schema 'wikinf' does not exist.

I've change the default database name from xwiki to wikinf, to attend our app
names. I've set it properly in xwiki.db property from xwiki.cfg and, as well,
in hibernate.cfg.xml file, on the postgres config section
(jdbc:postgresql://server/wikinf), and I followed just exactly the Postgresql
installation database creation instructions on Config pages from Xwiki.org. My
database, called wikinf, has nothing but the default public schema with the
proper rights according to instructions (users and groups created accordingly).

I'm using the postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar connector.

Why it says the schema does not exist, if the database indeed exist, with the
default public schema? I'm getting really annoying with this no-explication
error, and could not find any instructions on Web. Could you help me please?

The Skin style makes all of them with the same style. How can I achieve this

[xwiki-users] Set a Maintenance Start Page

2011-04-07 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi All,

Sorry, this might be a silly question, but let's go: How can I set a temporary
start page on XE, or redirect all requests to a specific page in running time?
My need: during the migration from 2.4.3 to 3.0 I'm planning to do in the next
few days, I would like that all users (except the admin) that try to access the
wiki (the login page or whichever other one) be faced with a The system is
being updated and will be available at ETA bla bla bla. Our production
server doesn't use apache, but direct on JBoss. Until users view the
maintenance page, I'm working behind the scenes performing the imports and skin
preparation etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

[xwiki-users] Hide (don't show) some macros in WYSIWYG insert macro menu

2011-04-06 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi XWiki Team,

I would like to hide some macros from the user, in the list presented on the
WYSIWYG editor menu Insert Macro. How can I do that?

The matter is only hiding some of them from the user, to prevent him/her to
select it to use on the page creation. Some of them are not familiar to my
users, and I would like to disable the possibility of use. How can I do that?

And also, is it possible to show those hidden ones only to the admin or the
admin group, or a specific group?

I'm using XE 3.0

[xwiki-users] User Display Names in Acces Rights Table

2011-03-29 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi everybody,

I'm using LDAP for login into XWiki (MS AD), it works very well. But there's
something I'll need to change: when a user is editing some page's access
rights, when he/she selects the User radio button, the list that appears is
based on the user's objetc names (that came from the sAMAccountName LDAP
field). Since our login field (and the username) is the registering number on
our company, the user's list on the access rights appears as a bunch of
numbers, and not the users' names, what makes it difficult to the author guess
which one is to be granted the desired right. I would like that the
first_name field (or another one from the user's object, mapped from LDAP) is
shown on this list. I've been looking around the rightsUI.vm and
usersandgroups.js, but could not figure out how to do this. I'm using XE
3.0RC1.

Any ideas?

[xwiki-users] RES: External OpenOffice Server

2011-03-24 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi Asiri / Marius

I've been looking around in JODConverter documentation and indeed there's no
support for running OpenOffice in a remote Server. The only way I see (in a
very near future, I hope) is running JODConverter as the so called Web
Service mode, which is not available yet on the version we're using in XWiki,
right (3.0beta3)? It's said on Issues page:
http://code.google.com/p/jodconverter/issues/detail?id=40

Asiri, when the web service mode turns available on next versions of
JODConverter, will it be possible to use it in XWiki, in the way to have
OpenOffice and XWiki on different servers? I'm so interested on it because in
our company here, it's not (and I believe it won't be) possible to share our
production container server with an openoffice instance (policy restrictions
higher than we can deal), and we do have a dedicated openoffice server up and
running, on another machine, for other applications. We're running XE2.4.3
without Office Importer functionalities and the main reason to upgrade to the
last version, among others, would be the opportunity window do activate this
amazing feature, what would substantially boost our XWiki experience.

Aren't there any possibilities or approaches in the short term, at all?

Thanks in advance for your precious help.

[xwiki-users] OpenOffice Importer XWR_PATCH error

2011-03-23 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

When I try to create a page from an Office Doc in XE 2.7.1 (Add - Create a
Page from Office Document), some documents succeed without problems, others get
an exception caused by:

java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Incorrect string value: '\xEF\x80\xBD|(%...' for
column 'XWR_PATCH' at row 1

I get this also with the same docs when I try to use the office importer macro
on WYSIWYG editor.

I've searched the user list archive and found something about this was a
misconfgured charset. But I've created the xwiki database with charset=utf8
just like the instructions, and double checked on mysql:

My xwiki database:
+--++
| Variable_name| Value  |
+--++
| character_set_client | latin1 |
| character_set_connection | latin1 |
| character_set_database   | utf8   |
| character_set_filesystem | binary |
| character_set_results| latin1 |
| character_set_server | latin1 |
| character_set_system | utf8   |
| character_sets_dir   | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ |
+--++

My MySQL System database:
+--++
| Variable_name| Value  |
+--++
| character_set_client | latin1 |
| character_set_connection | latin1 |
| character_set_database   | latin1 |
| character_set_filesystem | binary |
| character_set_results| latin1 |
| character_set_server | latin1 |
| character_set_system | utf8   |
| character_sets_dir   | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ |
+--++

The strange point is why some docs succeed, others not. I've tested a bunch of
docs, and found this behaviour.

Any ideas? Is it a BUG? Other places to check? I've though at first the problem
happened just with docs containing some bullets markings, but not only.

Should I access the application first, without going directly to the import

I've tried the first approach and it's taking so long for a very small database

[xwiki-users] Migrating XE from 2.4.3 to 2.7.1 and 3.0

2011-03-11 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi XWiki Team,

Sorry if this is a recurring thread, but can't find more details on it. I'm
using XE 2.4.30451 in production enviromnent on my company, and due to the
numerous new functionalities of the new XWiki versions, I'm planning to migrate
to 2.7.1, and after to 3.0.

My question is: can I upgrade it as easy as just replacing the entire old war
file with the new one (of course, with the tunings I've made on it, such as
WYSIWYG macros, footnotes etc, setting the schema migration flag on xwiki.cfg?
Won't I lose any of my documents, pages, attachments, comments etc at all? Of
course I'll test it first, outside the production, but I would like to gather
as much information I can to plan the entire migration process. We have a very
large set of pages already on the wiki, and I wouldn't like to face big
problems :-)

Thanks in advance,

[xwiki-users] BUG: Attachments become empty after a while

2010-10-05 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I'm facing some trouble with attachments becoming empty (zero bytes) after some
time they were uploaded. I'm using XWiki Enterprise 2.4.30451. I've searched
the mail archives and it seems to exist a bug in the cache coherency. I could
not find anything related on JIRA.

My -Xms and -Xmx are both 768m. Although my max packet size on MySQL is 20Mb
for attachments, the files that are becoming empty are docs, pictures and xls's
of a few Kbytes.

Can someone point me some cause and solution on this please?

[xwiki-users] SOLVED: RES: FWD: TAG Application with internationalcharacters

2010-08-31 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi all,

I've found the issue: it's na Apache/JBoss charset configuration: on JBoss,
just add URIEncoding=UTF-8 to Connector section and on Apache, add
AddDefaultCharset utf-8 to the VirtualHost section.

It's working now. Thanks anyway.

Hi Alex,

Sorry, I forgot to mention this information. I'm using a clean install of the
latest build of XWiki Enterprise (2.4.30451), running on JBoss 4.3 and MySQL
5.0, with Apache 2.0. Using Firefox 3.6.8 and IE 8.

Something related to char encoding of DB/JBoss/Apache? Which one?

[xwiki-users] FWD: Calendar Application on XE 2.4 - i18n characters and others

2010-08-30 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT

Hi Raluca/Lockie/XWiki Users,

I have 3 questions:

1) How can I convert the XWiki.CalendarSheet from XWiki 1.0 to XWiki 2.0
syntax, so I can use Annotations on it?

2) Why international characters (like ç, õ, ã) are not displayed correctly only
on the event title, both on the events list as well as on the calendar itself?
They display correctly on all the other fields (description, category etc).

3) I would like to have independent Calendars for different Spaces. Only
creating a page and including XWiki.CalendarSheet on it (like
Main.EventCalendar) is the solution? Can I use Rights Access on this page as
well?

Thanks for all the help so far.

[xwiki-users] RES: Could not initialize main XWiki context - Xwiki 2.4

2010-08-26 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Travis,

It seems that your line in the default database config

property
name=connection.urljdbc:myql://localhost/xwiki/property

is misspelled in the jdbc:myql part. Isn't it jdbc:mysql? That would
justify the error in your Hibernate config file exception message.

Assunto: [xwiki-users] Could not initialize main XWiki context - Xwiki 2.4

I recently switched to a new server and upgraded to the Xwiki Enterprise
2.4. I was able to get the installation working, but after an update to
Tomcat6 from the Ubuntu repository, Xwiki stopped working. (I'm not
completely sure that the tomcat update was the problem)

I tried re-installing Xwiki using the same procedure as before
(http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HInstallingtheXWikiWARmanually)
 but it still doesn't work. Tomcat works; at least the default test page.

So, I then tried reinstalling tomcat6. Then I copied the previously
expanded xwiki WAR contents back into webapps. Same thing. Tomcat
appears to work just fine, but xwiki crashes.

Details about my setup:
Running Ubuntu 64-bit Lucid Lynx 10.04
Tomcat6.0.24
MySQL 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.6 (Ubuntu)

The error seems to be complaining about my hibernate file. I have tried
following the instructions from the link above by just editing the xml
to match to lines in the instructions. I have also tried uncommenting
the setup for MySQL in the hibernate file. Both ways produce the same
results.

Can anyone help, please? I'm pretty desperate.

Thanks,

I got it to work, however I had to to put the 'Use This Extension' part to

well if thats what you're after. I left the name part blank.

Yes, you have to edit XWiki.CalendarSheet document, add an object of
type 'XWiki.StyleSheetExtension', take the styles from the patch
(don't forget to remove all the '+'-es) and paste them into the
object's content, then set these properties:
Use this extension: 'On demand',
Parse content: 'Yes' .

This is what you have to copy from the patch:
/*
** Calendar
*/

#template('colorThemeInit.vm')
...
...
...
.wiki-calendar-daytitle {
  background-color: $theme.backgroundSecondaryColor;
  padding: 0px 3px;
  text-align: right;
}

[xwiki-users] Allow normal users to modify page access rights

2010-08-05 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi Sergiu,

So, there are two options:
- tell users that they can edit page rights if they switch to advanced
- change menuview.vm so that the advanced user check is omitted

I've choosen the second option, because I want to make it transparent for the
user. I've cut out, in templates/menuview.vm, the advanced user check. But the
modifications have not worked. I've also changed the order of the edit menu
options, to test, and they were not reflected on the edit menu.

It seems that it's looking on some other vm file, or other overriding
configuration. I've also changed skin/colibri/editmenu.vm, but no success.
There's other menuview.vm on skins/colibri/menuview.vm, but on it there's no
velocity code for the edit menu.

I've refreshed the browser, cleaned the cache, but nothing. How can I succeed
on it?

Any user that can edit a page can also edit the rights for that page.

There are two kinds of users, advanced and simple users. This is set
from the user's profile. For more details, see
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/Features/PageEditing#HSimpleandAdvancededitingmodes

Simple users have a simple edit menu, with just one entry, the default
edit mode for a document. Advanced users see the full edit menu. So,
it's not that only administrators can edit page rights, but that
administrators are by default advanced users.

So, there are two options:
- tell users that they can edit page rights if they switch to advanced
- change menuview.vm so that the advanced user check is omitted

[xwiki-users] Colibri CSS for IE (6, 7, 8 ...)

2010-08-03 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I've created a Skin based on colibri and set I as my default skin. I've
overwritten some css definitions of colibri.css due to my header logo ( I've
shifted and resized the search box). I've added this definitions on a new
attribute (myStyle.css) on XWikiSkin object and added it on the style.css
attribute, as well as microformats.css and colibri.css. My modifications are:

#companylogo a img {

  float: left;

  margin:0 0 0 -4px;

}

#globallinks {

  float:right;

  padding:5px 67px 5px 0px;

  width:130px;

}

#globalsearch {

  text-align:right;

  width:190px;

}

#globalsearchinput {

  min-height:16px;

  width:150px;

}

It works well on Firefox, but in IE neither of my modifications seems to work,
and the search box goes below the header logo, on a new line. Where I can
change CSS definitions as above for IE's?

Regards,

[xwiki-users] Allow normal users to modify page access rights

2010-08-03 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I want to give all users the ability to change Access Rights on the pages they
create. I've noticed that only admin group has this ability.

When a user creates a page, I would like that Access Rights appear on the
Editor drop down menu. This page access classification by the author is nothing
but essential on my

Xwiki instance at my corp.

How can I do that?

[xwiki-users] Important: Translation on ApplicationResources.properties file not effective

2010-07-01 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I'm testing the portuguese translation of Xwiki (both stable and milestone
versions) and I'm facing some problems.

Starting at Main.WebHome, when I set pt as default language, some links do
not translate, for example, the Annotations link right above the page content
on the colibri skin. Clicking on the Annotations link, the box appears with the
default message To annotate a piece of text, select it and hit Crtl-M. I've
checked on ApplicationsResources_pt.properties and added the translated field,
from the default properties file, for the property in english:

annotations.action.create.helpmessage=To annotate a piece of text, select it
and hit {0}.

There aren't any UTF-8 special chars on the translated message. I've restarted
the xwiki tomcat instance , cleaned the browser cache, but the message is still
in English. This problem occurs with all text I try to translate through the
ApplicationResources_pt file, other than the ones that are already translated
on _pt file (copying the original English text from the default properties
file, translating it and pasting into the _pt file).

I've tried other languages, but the same problem: many links, panels text and
others remain in English. Isn't that only translate ALL the default resources
file into the desired language and replace it like explained in the admin guide?

How can I solve this?

I'm also interested to offer the brasilian Portuguese translation of the
properties file.

Regards,

[xwiki-users] RES: Important: Translation on ApplicationResources.properties file not effective

2010-07-01 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi Thomas,

That's right. I've unjar'ed the xwiki core jar into WEB-INF/classes/ folder,
excluded the jar from the WEB-INF/lib/ and directly modified the
ApplicationResources_pt.properties file. I've translated all the original
ApplicationResources.properties file, but it seems not to work. Is there a way
that I can check if the file was loaded by the wiki? $msg.get ?

Another question: despite setting the Lucene search as default in the Search
Application configuration on 2.4-M1, when I search using the box on the page's
upper right corner, it uses the database search. How can I force lucene by
defaut?

 Hi,

 I'm testing the portuguese translation of Xwiki (both stable and milestone
 versions) and I'm facing some problems.

 Starting at Main.WebHome, when I set pt as default language, some links do

 appears with the default message To annotate a piece of text, select it and
 hit Crtl-M. I've checked on ApplicationsResources_pt.properties and added
 the translated field, from the default properties file, for the property in
 english:

You mean you directly modified the ApplicationsResources_pt.properties
file in the jar package or where did you put your modified
ApplicationsResources_pt.properties file (it's supposed to go in
WEB-INF/classes/ folder) ?

Note that you can find and fix all missing translations on
http://l10n.xwiki.org application which is dedicated to translate
XWiki applications.

 annotations.action.create.helpmessage=To annotate a piece of text, select it
 and hit {0}.

 There aren't any UTF-8 special chars on the translated message. I've

 I'm also interested to offer the brasilian Portuguese translation of the
 properties file.

That would be great ! You can follow instructions on
http://l10n.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/L10N/AddALanguage for that.

[xwiki-users] Page Rights Problem

2010-06-28 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

Is there any news or work done on issue
http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-5256 ? I've realized that this issue
doesn't appear on Firefox. I'm particularly interested on the solution of this
one, as well as some news on when xwiki 2.4 stable will be available.

[xwiki-users] Lucene Search engine failure

2010-06-22 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi Friends,

In my fresh installed Xwiki (ver. 2.3.28602), I've configured the Lucene search
plugin accordingly to the described in

http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Plugins/LucenePlugin

But when I try to search any keyword, it returns only the following result:

Failed to execute macro: HTML

And no information appears on the log. How can I fix this?

[xwiki-users] Fix Header Logo URL to a specific space

2010-06-21 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi XWiki'ers friends,

I've implemented this great wiki engine on my enterprise, and lots of questions
appeared. One at a time in different emails:

I've made a new Skin and changed the Logo successfully, but I don't know how to
set the relative URL of it, in a way that, regardless the space a user is
(Panels, Sandbox, MyDepartmentSpace etc), it points to the xwiki/bin/view/Main
space (or other than thatt). I've noticed that it points to the WbHome of the
space the user is actually, not the start-of-everything page - which I want.
I want it static to a specific space.

How can I change this?
