[xwiki-users] Skinless on myxwiki, why?

2009-11-09 Thread wangwh

Hi,
One of my users reported seeing skinless page after login. I created a new
account and see the skinless page also. I can see normal page login or not.

[xwiki-users] [myxwiki] new wiki request

2008-05-24 Thread wangwh

 Hi, MyXWiki,

Is it possible for someone to delete my site parents2.myxwiki.org and
re-create it?
It might be easier this way to fix problems caused by my moving TAR from an
old site.
 (my user name is weihsingwang)
I brought in Dodo skin and could not get out of it (to use Toucan).

 Second try.
Please, would someone roll back the import of Tar on my site?
I would try import again from fresh.

 Hello XWiki users and developers,

I'm in Boston today and tomorrow and could be available for a quick
meetup with users of XWiki if there are some in the area.
I will also be in New York wednesday to saturday.

Anybody interested in an informal Meetup ? I would love to hear what we
could improve in XWiki and show the latest things we are working on.

[xwiki-users] [myxwiki] new wiki request

My account on community farm is weihsingwang

 Hi Wei-hsing,

Thanks for pinging me. I'm in SF at the JavaOne conference right now
so I won't have time to do anything for a few days.

Also you need to go at http://myxwiki.org and read the instructions
there as I told you in my previous email. This farm is not managed by
me. It's a community farm managed by the community which means you
need to ask the community, not me. You'll see that once you send the
email as instructed on myxwiki.org the wikis will get created very
 quickly.

Last, the community will be able to create the new wikis for you but
you'll have to do the migration of data from the old farm to this
farm. Again if you want pro services then you should use the pro farm
and then the XPertNet company can do the migration for you as part of
 the hosting cost you'd pay.

 Thanks
 -Vincent

Hi, Vincent,

Thanks a lot. I have been using XWiki for a number of
  applications,
some of them might need pro-farm service in the future. I would
  like
to move a few sites to the Community farm for the up-to-date
features. Then request to move to pro-farm when need comes. Is
  this
direction OK?

   Sure.

Just to repeat myself the community farm has the following rules:
   * No support warranty. All support is done on the XWiki user
   mailing list by the community.
   * No stability warranty. We install the latest milestone version
of XWiki Enterprise Manager on this farm and we use it as a
  stability
test for the XWiki development team.
   * No uptime warranty. It's possible the farm will be down a few
days in a row although we'll do the maximum so that it doesn't
  happen.
   * The farm is open to anyone to create wikis on. However the
target users are mostly technical people who can support
  themselves to
some extent. This farm should never be used for business-critical
wikis. For that please use a pro farm service like the one
  provided by
   XPertNet.

If you're ok with these rules just follow the instructions listed on
   http://myxwiki.org
and I'll create the wiki for you.

Should I worry that the current XWiki farm be shut down any time
  soon?

We don't have any plan to close it right now. However we're not
maintaining it anymore (it's not evolving).

   Thanks
   -Vincent Massol

I would like to give my users best experience with XWiki to keep
growing communities on XWiki.

  Hi, Vincent,

Thanks a lot for the message. I think what you said is you
  can
help
me get an XWiki site on the community farm with the latest
version
of XWiki. It will have the best design and interface but it
  is
not
  guaranteed to be stable.

I need to upgrade an existing XWiki site, but I am not sure
  what
will the look and feel be when you help me move it over.
  Will the
native search work better? look better?

The look will be the one you want. The community farm has the
Albatross and Toucan skins ready. See
 http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/Skins
Re the search, not sure what you mean by work better.

[xwiki-users] new user registration

2007-12-26 Thread wangwh
Hi,

Anyone know the when and why about this.

Our registration page is currently getting a spam attack. We have needed to
disable registration until we find a solution to block the spam attack. We are
sorry for the inconvenience but we had to take these measures to keep our
platform running.

We can't add users to sites on the XWiki farm?
Is the problem being worked on?

Re: [xwiki-users] When adding a new page, can a standard template be used?

2007-09-26 Thread wangwh
Hi,
One way to direct user to a certain page after login is to make that page
require a login (guest view denied), a link to that page, say Members, enter
here, will cause the login page to show up, after login, they will be directed
to that first member page. This method is not the best, but cost no effort.

 Hi all,

 Anyone know the answers:
 * Does anyone know how to update the text on the login page with say an
email link for people to request an account, etc?
 * Redirect the user to a certain initial page when they login?
If anyone has any answer I can paste them to the FAQ section of the XWiki
 website.

 Regards,

 Richard

Ok, so I figured it out. The tutorial should be updated for the latest
release. It doesn't describe the process to associate the object very well.
 Anyhow, thanks just the same.

Ok, I followed the tutorial for creating an FAQ. I setup the class, the
template and the sheet as directed. I added properties to the template -
 but
these do not show up when I create a new document, any ideas?

Hi,

to do this you should probably first spend some time on this tutorial:

  http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/FAQTutorial
 http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/FAQTutorial to
find out more about creating XWiki classes.
Then you will need to tweak the class page to add the objects you need

(such as meeting leader, date, content, summary - the categories
defined on your meeting minutes form).
The next step will be to modify the ClassSheet to display your
 elements
the way you want them to be seen by users (using CSS). Say, a table to
display participants names, the meeting title in bold and so on...
The last step will be to add an input button on a page in order to let

people create new pages of that class easily.

All this may sound a bit complex and you'll probably need to dig a bit
into XWiki.org... Though having done it myself I can assure you it will be

  worth it :-)

  Hi Guillaume,

Sorry I was not more detailed. I am referring to the predefined
template - like a blog article. We will likely have areas of our blog for
things such as meeting minutes, and we would like to use our standard
 format
to post these. How do I go about creating those?

   Hi Sheila,

When you are talkign about pages look and feel, what exactly do
you mean? If you are talking about the general view of the wiki, you will
have to look into the Skin configuration. If you are talking about
 creating
new pages that are supposed to follow a predefined template (such as a
 blog
article template that would typically include the article's title,
publication date, author name and so on) then you can definitely do it and
create as many page templates as you want to using XWiki.

So the short answer is that creating pages with a standard look
can be done easily. I would be glad to answer you in greater length but i
would be easier if I had a better descrpition of what you have in mind.
